Here's to new beginnings!

Risen, a robust fantasy action-RPG from the Piranha Bytes studio, the developer behind the classic Gothic games, is now available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 48 hours to start a new epic adventure!

It all begins on a mysterious volcanic island. The heavy tremors on the island bode ill for its inhabitants. Ancient temples have risen from the ground recently, bizarre creatures are terrorizing the area. Fear and terror is spreading among the population. Is it the end of all hope? A group of powerful men who call themselves "The Inquisitors" have taken it upon themselves to put an end to these events. They send an expedition to this remote island, but a storm takes hold of the ship and destroys it at sea. It was foretold that a hero will come, and the fate played its marked cards to set the events in motion. As if by a miracle, you survive the shipwreck and are stranded on the volcanic island alone. You find yourself amidst a chaos of rebellion, tyranny, and mystic rituals. It is up to you to decide to which side the pendulum of fate will swing.

In the epic world of Risen, filled with mysterious earthquakes, fearsome monsters, and unimaginable treasures, forge your path with the sword, learn the art of staff fighting, or become a powerful mage. Delve into a gritty, raw, and atmospheric fantasy world in which every action has a consequence. The game comes from the German Piranha Bytes studio, the team who brought us all three classic iterations in the fan-favorite Gothic Series. Do you want to see how the creators of one of the most acclaimed RPGs could do with the power of the modern gaming machines? Now you can, and with the 48-hour special launch offer you'll be amazed by the value you get for just $3.99 of your money.

With the addition of Risen to our DRM-Free catalog, we welcome a new publisher, Deep Silver, onboard GOG.com! There's no better way to start a new beautiful friendship, than with an epic RPG, especially when it comes with a 60% launch discount, that will be available until Saturday, April 5, at 9:59AM GMT.

JudasIscariot: Gdoc, our Social Media Master, is out sick so there's going to be a slight delay on things such as GOG Blog posts :(

Get well soon, Gdoc!
Wishing Gdoc a quick recovery!

I only asked because there's an entry for Broken Age, but not for Risen and Deep Silver.
It now looks like whoever added the Broken Age entry deemed it more important/ of higher priority than Deep Silver joining GOG.com.
Decent game, enjoyed it a lot.
I was rather hoping for both Risen 1 & 2 together. I already have this on GamersGate DRM-free, but I will sill pick this up here when the second half is available.

Looking forward to more Deep Silver releases such as Saints Row The Third and Sacred 2

Tarhiel: Instabuy - do you even have to ask this?

Lemon_Curry: Well I do as I have neither played this nor any other game by Piranha Bytes before. According to most of the reviews I've read the narrative of Risen is rather bland and I happen to prefer RPG's with strong narratives.
I think the games by Piranha Byte are more about exploration and world lore than about strong plots, even though I have only completed Gothic 1 and played a bit of Gothic 2 and Risen. If you want a more linear and story-oriented RPG that pushes you forward and constantly suprises you with story twists, this might not be it, but that's not to say that the games' storytelling is bad, world and characters are actually pretty good and more believable than in the average RPG. If you can spare a few dollars, I'd suggest you try it for yourself.

Best game ever but I already own it.

Some fellow played and stopped playing.. I feel sorry because it is greatest game ever almost. =)
Ohohoho, so you do put up games that have been sold on other platforms for a long time. Contrary to what you've told developers when they were declined.

PaterAlf: As far as I can see there won't be regional pricing for Risen 2. The article says there will be differnt versions though. Base game for $19.99, Gold version (for unknown price) and Gold upgrade.
I don't like the precedent of GOG having tiered pricing for a non-new game; this is somewhat understandable for new releases but Risen 2 is two years old now.
Great Release for a great Price, Thanks Gog!
Instabuy. Already finished Risen 1 but it's such a fine RPG that it deserves to be in my DRM-free GOG shelf :)
Good release, I already own the DVD and steam version. Buying it here anyway for backup. Cheers gog.
Must buy, if I did not already own it. All of Piranha games are wonderful exploration RPG adventures, love them. Hopefully Risen 3 will improve on flaws of Risen 2.

Yeah.. Until then we can just listen risen one theme. ^^
Nice release but seeing Deep Silver on GOG is even better. Way to go!
Great game. Smaller in scope that Gothic 2 but the same excellent RPGing.

I already had it DRM free on Amazon but I figured the soundtrack alone was worth $4, plus the convenience of having it on GOG. Thanks guys.

Hopefully some of Deep Silver's Steam only stuff comes here next.
I actually got this on Steam (won it, I think). So I'll give it a try there sometime and if I like it, I'll probably get it over here at some point, too.

Now, on to more goodies!! =)
