Grand Theft Pixels!

Retro City Rampage, the ultimate 8-bit(ish) criminal sandbox of villainy and violence in the vein of 1980s classic games, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99.

UPDATE: Chiptune fans, rejoice! We've just added extra 10 exclusive tracks from the Retro City Rampage OST to our edition of the game (on top of the previous 10 demo tracks). GOG.com release of Retro City Rampage is currently the only offer to feature this content!

Blast those Evil Good Guys! Why do they have to meddle with every little thing we do? What does a fun lovin' criminal got to do to get those holier-than-thou morons off his back? All I want is some quality time shootin' my gun and drivin' my car. But will they let me wreck havoc in peace? Noooo. They have to swoop in and chase me, making my life harder and ruining all the sinister satisfaction for me. I've had it! This time it's going to be different. This time it's going to be me hunting them down. Hell yeah, this is going to be a real rampage! Ma'!? I'm going out, and I won't be back for dinner!

Retro City Rampage--the most anticipated nostalgic sandbox shooter in history finally arrives! From a brilliant veteran of NES homebrew scene comes the ultimate tribute to the 8-bit culture of the 1980s. With handcrafted pixelated visuals that will seem instantly familiar to all retro-gamers, elaborate chiptune soundtrack, dozens of references to classic games and popular culture, and satisfyingly modern sandbox gameplay, Retro City Rampage is going to take you on an insane nostalgic trip you won't soon forget. Hijack one of over 30 vehicles, grab one of 20+ guns, and embark on a multitude of varied missions as you rampage through the vast retro city of Theftropolis.

Could your day use a little auto theft and pixelated murder? A life of 8-bit crime and vintage violence awaits you in Retro City Rampage, available now for $14.99!
Finally I can play the game! The keys are available to preorder customers now, thankfully.

Indeed. 'bout time too.
One of the best indie game of 2012 in my opinion.
Hey, does anyone else has problem to save the game? i'm playing the DRM Free Version (not GOG nor Steam) and it keeps telling me Save failed - Would you like to try again?" Anyone got the same problem?

Skunk: Sure would be nice to play this. I don't know why they couldn't have given out keys in advance. They had months to get their shit together. Not sure why the pre-order didn't have a 10% discount. I'd really like to know what that's about. I hope they put a hell of a lot of care into the game itself, as they certainly didn't put any of it toward the people who pre-ordered.
I don't know the specifics of this release but I must say as an indie dev myself the sentence everything that can go wrong will go wrong does apply to game releases at this scale. just when you think you sorted everything out and all will be well all the bugs, marketing and technical issues that can be, start popping up, and at the day of release no less.
if you plan ahead nicely and have some experience it might go smoothly but as an indie you have quite a lot of surprises on the way, even AAA have those issues when they delay the product again and again (mostly due to bad marketing/PR decisions and high staff shuffling, and yes in few times even bad design decisions).

just my take on it.

Well, I had to wait several hours longer than I was expecting but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! Retro City Rampage is brilliant! Just brilliant!

It's honestly the second best new game I've played in 2012, behind only Crusader Kings II. I know that sounds like hyperbole but it's just amazing. Highly entertaining, addictive, beautifully designed. I can't say enough about it.

And it's funny. If you were on the fence about it, I highly recommend you to purchase it. It's a hundred dollars of fun for fifteen!

Find the link to the bonus goodies that was sent to your e-mail for pre-ordering from the developer, if you follow that link it should now have the keys on the page. Kind of misinforming since it sounded like it would be a separate e-mail I know, but I checked my pre-order bonus e-mail again and I got my keys and the game downloaded from GOG now.
It goes nearly 1 dollar per one megabyte...
This game is great!
I've been playing for 1.5 hours now and seen so many refferences to my childhood.
This game truly is a achievement for such a small team.

Thank you so much!

oh and btw:

you mean 0.5 Dollar, with 15 dollars and a 28mb download.
Despite the wait, the game is great fun. I won't be preordering from this guy again, but I'll probably buy his next game anyway!

@Videotraf

And? Dwarf Fortress is all of 70mbs and it's the only game that's been on my computers non stop since 2008. Obviously RCR isn't on the level of DF, but the point is a games size in mbs is not an indictment of quality.
Looks awesome, short on cash right now so this and Hotline have to wait a moment.

The keys weren't available on my humble account page when I posted this morning. That's sort of how the concept of time works, you see?

Yep, Geneforge is the same (106 MB for 5 games!) :) Small game, but one I'm playing again and again and again.

Apologies, I wasn't sure if you were still having problems with the keys when I posted.
I preordered directly from the site, which gave me 2 DRM free copies (one GOG one regular), a Steam key, and everything in the GOG extras list (except wallpapers). I'm sure I'll have a good time with this one, delay or no delay.
