Grand Theft Pixels!

Retro City Rampage, the ultimate 8-bit(ish) criminal sandbox of villainy and violence in the vein of 1980s classic games, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99.

UPDATE: Chiptune fans, rejoice! We've just added extra 10 exclusive tracks from the Retro City Rampage OST to our edition of the game (on top of the previous 10 demo tracks). GOG.com release of Retro City Rampage is currently the only offer to feature this content!

Blast those Evil Good Guys! Why do they have to meddle with every little thing we do? What does a fun lovin' criminal got to do to get those holier-than-thou morons off his back? All I want is some quality time shootin' my gun and drivin' my car. But will they let me wreck havoc in peace? Noooo. They have to swoop in and chase me, making my life harder and ruining all the sinister satisfaction for me. I've had it! This time it's going to be different. This time it's going to be me hunting them down. Hell yeah, this is going to be a real rampage! Ma'!? I'm going out, and I won't be back for dinner!

Retro City Rampage--the most anticipated nostalgic sandbox shooter in history finally arrives! From a brilliant veteran of NES homebrew scene comes the ultimate tribute to the 8-bit culture of the 1980s. With handcrafted pixelated visuals that will seem instantly familiar to all retro-gamers, elaborate chiptune soundtrack, dozens of references to classic games and popular culture, and satisfyingly modern sandbox gameplay, Retro City Rampage is going to take you on an insane nostalgic trip you won't soon forget. Hijack one of over 30 vehicles, grab one of 20+ guns, and embark on a multitude of varied missions as you rampage through the vast retro city of Theftropolis.

Could your day use a little auto theft and pixelated murder? A life of 8-bit crime and vintage violence awaits you in Retro City Rampage, available now for $14.99!

SimonG: How is that game not steamrolled by a bunch of overzealous lawyers?
Because it's not 1997. :)
I can't believe it! This game is out? Sweet!

I've pre-ordered on the developer's website, let's hope I can redeem the game on GOG soon.
So frustrating! I'm still waiting on my e-mail with the preorder key! :(
Out on Steam now too, with 10% off.

Why are the preorder people last to get it?
Interested on how this game pans out

I looked at the images, and you know how certain games look like a certain machine or a certain age. Well I can certainly see the 80's look in the game, but it looks more like an Amstrad 8bit game than a commodore 8bit or spectrum 8 bit game. Not sure why?, just something about the graphics and the colours that make me think "Thats an Amstrad game" LOL

So not a bad thing and very interested to know how it plays

I love all my retro stuff being from the Comodore Vic20 / Atrai 800 sort of time period, so people let me know how this game is :-)

Thanks everyone
Sure would be nice to play this. I don't know why they couldn't have given out keys in advance. They had months to get their shit together. Not sure why the pre-order didn't have a 10% discount. I'd really like to know what that's about. I hope they put a hell of a lot of care into the game itself, as they certainly didn't put any of it toward the people who pre-ordered.
Not really interested in the game but I feel bad for those who preordered. Devs should give you a compensation for the added wait...

On his Twitter account he says those people get all three versions now, that's pretty nice for a couple of extra hours of waiting.

Three versions?

Definitely not getting this, ever. :P

Well, at least that's something. I'm still waiting to receive my keys... :(

Well technically two I suppose, one DRM-free release from the Humble Store and one from GOG, and a Steam release. I suppose the Humble and GOG version will basically be the same.

Ooooh, you meant those kind of versions, I thought the versions were like different on a significant scale, my bad. I didn't think of that.

Just bought it. I'm guilt free and totally excited to get home and test this beast!
Quoted from the pre-order page:

"... You'll get it the instant it's released..."

So, as a pre-order customer you actually (1) pay full price of $15 with no discount (%10 on steam) (2) do NOT get it the instant it's released (3) must wait to recieve your Steam key despite the fact that it is already out on Steam (2+ hours now and counting).

Haha, wow. If that's not a slap to the face, I'm not sure what is.

As a pre-order customer, I sure feel used and abused - some of the pre-order bonus content is even available in their recently posted press-release package -__-

I'm sorry, but this was definitely NOT worth the pre-order, no matter how many places I can download the same game.
