The adventure begins anew!

Prince of Persia the 2008 beautifully re-envisioned installment of one of the most prominent action/platformer series with gorgeous visuals and an a fascinating storyline, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Yet again we find the young Prince chasing after Farah... Oh, wait. This isn't Farah that we remember! The Prince looks entirely different as well. And this girl, Elika? What's her story? She looks intriguing - not your typical damsel in distress. Quite the opposite, actually. She's the damsel putting the Prince in distress. Not a problem! The Prince is ready to take on any trouble head on with his deadly Daggertail, while stopping time with the magic of the Sands. What? That's gone too? Then how is he gonna whoop his enemies' behinds? Oh... I see. That's amazing swordplay, indeed. No need for gadgets and gimmicks when you have that good old sword. Alright then, Prince. As the unwitting incompetent narrator of this story I'm now convinced that you'll do just fine. Even though you're up against an angry, destructive deity this time. Oh, you didn't know about THAT? Well, don't worry, carry on with your adventure.

In 2008 Prince of Persia served as a reboot to the iconic action-adventure series, originally created by the gaming industry visionary Jordan Mechner. The game features a new storyline, brings in a fresh batch of characters and enemies, offers some original gameplay mechanics, and--once again--re-designs combat sequences. It's back to the original one-on-one sword duels, but this time the enemies are often larger, stronger and more dangerous. Luckily the Prince has the mysterious (and frankly: quite cute) Elika on his side, to support him with her magical powers. All of this, presented in highly stylized cel-shaded graphics that makes the game a real feast for the eyes.

Feel the sun-scorched desert sands under your feet as you race towards a whole new breathtaking adventure in Prince of Persia, for only $9.99!
Got this for Xbox a few months ago, for £5.

It's actually quite a fun game, although not as much as the previous trilogy. Worth playing though!
An awesome newish game for a pretty good price! Good job there, GOG!

Don't succumb to the hate surrounding this game. It's quite different from the other PoPs, and somewhat experimental, but still great. It's a bit like the first Assassin's Creed: an excellent idea that only needed a little more tweaking to shine.

EDIT: Oooh, soundtrack included. I've got to pick this up for the soundtrack eventually.

Already have it on Steam... I've had it there since like 2009 and never played it... It's really one of those games I just know are brilliant but I still can't get myself to play. o_o
Maybe grabbing it from GOG at some point will be the necessary impulse. <.<

Looks interesting wishlisted for now
I loved it despite the critics and I must say that I am quite impressed by this release: multilingual, a lot of extras and the price is fair. I already have it on disc (already DRM-Free) but I might pick it up later (maybe even at full price to support those kind of releases).

Thanks GOG.com & Ubisoft !
Cool release, although for a moment I thought it's original PoP game (only saw name of the thread on the forum).

ps. More Ubi!

For a moment I cried: FInally! And then I saw 're-envisioned installment from 2008' That was cruel GOG.
Cool, I've always been curious about this one (more than the previous series except sands of time).

Does it support natively (no joy2key, etc.) the x360 gamepad?
Nice! Ubisoft is possibly my favourite GOG publisher (even if they also seem to have a couple of missing expansion packs IIRC). I don't know why everyone hates them. :)
This is a great game. Like others said do not listen to the haters that say it looks like crap and is way too easy. It looks stunning and it just has loads of checkpoints. If you never played it: buy it. You won't regret it. This is my second favorite pop (after sands of time).

sebarnolds: I loved it despite the critics
Actually it's one of those games that were loved by critics but failed commercially anyway (the metascores for the three versions range from 81 to 85 - hardly bad results).
Man, for a moment there I thought you'd managed to get the original. Sigh. Now that is a classic worthy of a GOG-release.

From the pics it looks stunning. And the easier the better in my books.

Only problem is i hated the prince of persia sands of time. It was really tedious and boring.
Worst prince of Persia game ever...
