Where in the world did that little silver ball go?

Pinball World, a remarkable pinball game with 19 tables to play on as you trot around the globe, is available on GOG.com 100% DRM-Free for just $5.99.

Not enough games pioneer a new space in the plot-based geographical exploration pinball sim genre, and that's a shame. You've got your Pinball Worlds, you've got your..hm. Other than rumors of a Carmen Sandiego / pinball FPS that was abandoned back in 1998, we can't think of much. Each of these genres singularly is something special, and when you mix them all together, you get a truly remarkable achievement. Pinball World creates a grand vista of interconnected pinball tables that are all united around the theme of travelling around the world via small tables trapped under lucite.

It lacks some of the majesty of travelling to destinations in real life, but it's hard to knock the convenience.

With 9 main tables set in the UK, Germany, Africa, the Big Apple, the Far East, and more, each table brings a number of special effects, cool features, and even unlockable bonus tables. As one of the very few pinball games with a save/load feature to help you make the most of the sprawling, interconnected nest of tables, it also has cool little driving minigames between each of the tables, giving you a break in between ceaseless flipping flippers and bumping bumpers.

For just $5.99, it's hard to say no to a game like Pinball World that pushes the limits of what can be conceived for a pinball game, and manages to turn out an excellent experience in the process.
Hey, an old pinball game. Not bad. Wishlisting for now.
Not my cup of tea but at least it's oldie so I'll pick it in the future. If gog adds games with <10 votes I hope we will see those Microprose/Tommo flight sims as well
This is what happens when GOG is forced to release an old game every week, whether they have any worthwhile ones or not.
This release should appease those who feel G.G doesn't publish old games anymore.

But now they'll complain that it isn't any good. =P

I presume "good" is not as important as "OLD", as in "gOg". :)
Well, hmm, thanks, but no thanks... In 25 years, have never felt inclined to buy any pinball game. Received one free in a bonus disk that came with a video card (I think) and another on a disc mag, a while ago, and that's about it.

They probably have a reserve list of "outsiders" to fill the gaps, sure. On the other hand, some may like the genre and could be happy out such a release.

Russonc: Funny what games could do with 37mb back in the day (heck, I remember some good games that were 64K...yes, I'm old...)
That's exactly what I was thinking, when I saw the filesize on the game page. Pretty amazing.

All the old cartridge console ( and handheld ) games had to make do with a very limited filesize, as well.
So much nostalgia!

This is a very unique pinball game, never played anything like it. It might not be for everyone though so perhaps check out some gameplay video's if you're unsure. I know what I'll be doing tonight :D

Atari 2600 (for 2600 bits .... 2.6K...) modern games can't pop out a the menu screen for that little!

Hah hah. In a way it's good that modern gamemakers don't have to worry about such limitations any more. On the other hand, back in the day these very limitations caused developers to work much more efficiently and lead to a certain "perfectionism" and degree of optimization which modern games usually seem to lack.
Interesting release. Will wait for a sale.
