Where in the world did that little silver ball go?

Pinball World, a remarkable pinball game with 19 tables to play on as you trot around the globe, is available on GOG.com 100% DRM-Free for just $5.99.

Not enough games pioneer a new space in the plot-based geographical exploration pinball sim genre, and that's a shame. You've got your Pinball Worlds, you've got your..hm. Other than rumors of a Carmen Sandiego / pinball FPS that was abandoned back in 1998, we can't think of much. Each of these genres singularly is something special, and when you mix them all together, you get a truly remarkable achievement. Pinball World creates a grand vista of interconnected pinball tables that are all united around the theme of travelling around the world via small tables trapped under lucite.

It lacks some of the majesty of travelling to destinations in real life, but it's hard to knock the convenience.

With 9 main tables set in the UK, Germany, Africa, the Big Apple, the Far East, and more, each table brings a number of special effects, cool features, and even unlockable bonus tables. As one of the very few pinball games with a save/load feature to help you make the most of the sprawling, interconnected nest of tables, it also has cool little driving minigames between each of the tables, giving you a break in between ceaseless flipping flippers and bumping bumpers.

For just $5.99, it's hard to say no to a game like Pinball World that pushes the limits of what can be conceived for a pinball game, and manages to turn out an excellent experience in the process.
I'm going to wishlist for now. As much as I tend to prefer older to newer I have to side with Redfoxe on this one. Whereas a good point and click adventure can only get better with age, pinball games tend to suffer. I can't be sure if this is the case here because I've never played it but for....oh god I'm starting to bore even myself.

Brings back some memories. And still works as a game. Cool.

Russonc: Funny what games could do with 37mb back in the day (heck, I remember some good games that were 64K...yes, I'm old...)

psadler: Ha. I remember good games that were 16k.
A lot more went into the imagination (since there were so little graphics...)
GOG when are you going to release what I consider my first PC game 3D Ultra Pinball by Sierra.

Pinball games are not my cup of tea but it doesn't hurt to have one more here on GOG. :D
Another blast from the past :) I just need Psycho Pinball and Extreme Pinball and I'll consider my collection complete :)

I know, right. Nowadays they need a full 96k! Where will this madness end?!
Yeah, I waited for this game to be released here - thanks! :D

amok: However it is good to see that gOg will not be following TeT's "Moby Rank" scheme for new releases, as it is firmly on a 55 there :)
And 8 wishlist votes. Good to see schemes going down the drain indeed ;)

That brings me back
The PC pinball game that I remember most from 1995 was Hyper 3D Pinball. I don't remember who developed it, but it was published by Virgin Interactive in the states... I had a lot of trouble going back to any other PC pinball games after that one, including stuff like this and the 3D ultra pinball series from Sierra...

Hm, never heard of this one. I do like these old school pinball games from the 90s, so I'll wishlist it for now. Would have been an insta-buy if it had been the 3D Ultra Pinball series, LOVED those games!
I wish they added Psycho Pinball - the only PC pinball game that I really loved...
I think I have every pinball games from here so whishlisted to complete the collection, it looks a little bland so I'm going to wait for a good promo before buying it.

Epic Pinball would be an insta buy, I wonder why it's not here already.

Vote for it here!

Each and every table includes multi-directional scrolling and loads of realistic mechanical animations thanks to pinball simulation technology which was truly cutting edge in its time.
No, thanks. I have a hard enough time putting up with regular up and down scrolling anymore these days. Having to worry about the screen scrolling left and right, too, is a no go for me - not that I'd expect the game to be anything special as is. I most definitely prefer pinball tables to be fully displayed on one single screen.

Amen. As far as the 2D ones go, that was my absolute favorite.
