Oddworld just got Stranger... in HD!

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, the remastered high-definition version of the bounty hunting shooter set in the colorful Oddworld, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Where there's a frontier, there's always a person that arrives from nowhere on his way west, and while he's in town bullets are shot, bandits are captured, asses are kicked, and a justice is served. No one ever knows this person's name, so in all frontier towns on all planets in the multiverse, people refer to such a character simply the Stranger. Here's a story of one of them Strangers. The Stranger of Oddworld. The strangest Stranger of them all.

In Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD you become a gunslinging bounty hunter hell-bent on cleaning the Mongo River Valley from the criminal scum and claiming the bounties for the heads of them all. The game is full of Oddworld Inhabitants' signature humor and art-style. The world around you is teeming with peculiar life forms, insane mechanisms, and mind-blowing landmarks. Armed with his trusty double-barreled crossbow that shoots live ammunition (as in: small creatures), the Stranger will stop at nothing to collect his prize. Be wary though, even with the HD release it will not guarantee the game will run flawlessly on your system. Check Steam forum for more info.

Also, make sure to set your AA to FXAA or none. Anything other than that will seriously impact your performance as it isn't properly optimized yet.

Subtitle (in-game) also not working properly, sometime it work flawlessly, sometime it appear only for the Stranger's dialog, sometime it doesn't appear at all.

I hope this is based in the last build of the HD DRM-Free version, the same one that was put off from the downloads in the "Groupees: Be Mine 5 Bundle" by the developers for weeks, "to fix one last bug", according to them, a month ago.

From the readme, it's version 1.5.
Anyway, this is still a great game considering the developer team just consist of 12 employees. The game doesn't feel or look cheap at all. Combine that with reasonable price, i say it worth the risk.

I bought the Groupees Be Mine 5 Bundle, and I have the downloaded DRM-Free ZIP with the setup files. Once I run the setup, it shows version 1.5 (see screenshot).

Now i'm not sure, from the readme it show 1.5. But the installer show 2.0.0.4. From Steam forum, the latest patch was released at the end of last October, i guess it's same build as that.

This was totally unexpected, nice to get this for free when i already have the standard edition.

I think it has to be version 1.5 (the same latest version). The numbers 2.0.0.4 in the setup file refers to the setup version itself. I've notice that GOG has a different way to catalog the versions of the games, for example, the first "2" refers to the new setup files.

Works great! Just tried the update and it runs great. The graphics look crisp and clean and I can play the game in the highest resolution (that my card will support) with full graphic options without the game slowing down. Unless I select FSAA in which case the game slows down to a crawl. So just turn it off if it happens to you as well.
