The cheesiest game you'll ever get addicted to!

MouseCraft, a sleek-looking fun puzzle game that's a lovechild of Tetris and Lemmings with a weird science theme, is available 20% off for Windows and Mac OS X, DRM-Free on GOG.com. That's only $11.99 for the first week!

Science! It makes the world move forward. And the cutting edge of science often operates on the verge of madness. Its the crazy people and their fantastic ideas contribute the most to civilization's progress. Here is a story of such a mad scientist and his revolutionary idea that could lead to ending the global energy crisis. Forget fossil fuels! Mouse-powered devices are the future. Sounds crazy? Well, you need to know that the person behind this concept is a Cat Scientist by the name of Schrödinger. Now, everything falls perfectly into place, just like well-handled tetris blocks!

MouseCraft answers the not-so-trivial question: what a cross between Tetris and Lemmings would look like? It's an A to B puzzle game where players help mice in their relentless quest for cheese by stacking the world's most famous blocks: Tetrominos. Starring: Mad Cat Scientist, Three Blind Mice and tons of irresistibly delicious Cheese. What we have here is a remix of two classic gameplay mechanics: pile up Tetromino bricks to create a safe path for as many mice as possible. With 80 increasingly challenging levels to beat, lots of block types to discover, and adorable animations to behold, this refreshing puzzle title will keep you entertained for hours!

If you're missing the times when puzzle games were big on the PC, and you'd love to see one bringing some neat gameplay concepts along with great-looking graphics, make sure not to miss MouseCraft, for only $11.99 on GOG.com. The 20% off special release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, July 15, at 1:59AM GMT.

HypersomniacLive: It would appear that devs are so trained to hand out Steam keys, that they operate on autopilot, i.e. they don't handle offering choices to their early supporters too well.

We probably need to use every opportunity and actively raise awareness to our preference and the merits of GOG. :-)

As for the game released, admit to never have heard of it before, but then I never was much of a fan of Tetris or Lemmings.
I suspect it had more to do with the game being in Beta until now. Steam and Desura offer auto updates, and there tend to be a lot of updates to a Beta title.

IAmSinistar: The devs wrote this back in regards to my question about getting a GOG key:

Unfortunately GOG changed their policy and they don't provide keys if the game is already available on Steam.

Can a bluetext confirm this is the case? I thought devs always got keys to provide to early buyers if they wanted them.

G-Doc: Looks like a misunderstanding between us and the devs. There was no policy change - that's how we usually approach such things. We do offer devs the option to let their early buyers choose their final game platform. It was no different in this case: we offered to provide GOG.com keys, as long as the users would get a choice between the GOG.com and Steam version of the game. Alas, no such choice was made possible and all of the early buyers received Steam keys.

Only one way to go about it now, since GOG.com users got the short side of the stick in this deal: we'll provide Crunching Koalas with GOG.com keys for MouseCraft and everyone who still wants to get their GOG.com version will be able to contact them about it. Sounds good? :-)
Very, very nice of you!!! Thanks for being awesome!!!

p.s. Can you please make this post somehow more visible for the devs and publishers? Because I'm sure there are others who still probably don't know about it... (saying hello to Deconstructeam / Devolver Digital :D)

Nirth: Is this like some kind of modern lemmings with crafting abilities?

LinustheBold: This looks way fun! But as I am the worst Tetris player in the Multiverse I will wait on it for a while.
It's mostly Lemmings-y, the Tetris elements are really just in where and how to place certain blocks to create crossing or obstacles (at least in the demo). The emphasis is on getting the three mice to trigger all the devices needed to open the way off the level, ideally with all of them alive. And since you can't control the rate at which they enter, there are timing elements with placing the blocks so that you can send one ahead to do one thing while redirecting the others do another.

Overall it's a series of one-screen 2D puzzles, although the screen may scroll and the visuals are 3D. The ability to work out the puzzle is the main requirement, with the timing element the second.

While it is the case for alpha/ beta, I was referring to final releases, I suppose I should have made it clear. :-)

Thanks, Sinistar - that's a nice clear clarification. It does sound like a good time. I have fond memories of Lemmings, long ago.

I'm a Lemmings fan as well, which is why I splashed out on this one in spite of it being in beta at the time. Not something I do often.

Siannah: For anyone interested but unsure: Jesse Cox playing Mousecraft.
Thank you for posting that. That early version looks quite splendid. Hmmmm...
By the way, the dev did write me back and confirm that they have worked things out with GOG. Keys might available from them as soon as today. Very nice that both parties worked it out so quickly and smoothly!
This game looked pretty cool. Has anyone tried it yet? Is it like Lemmings with Tetris shapes?

Thanks for the link! I guess I entered the thread too late! X)
I've gotten a similar response from S7 concerning Downfall. I bought the game from their site long before its release on GOG, but I was told that "GOG do not supply keys for their games, unless there is some kind of very special promotion" and that I can't be given a GOG key for the game.

Anyway, Mousecraft is cool, those who appreciate the genre will enjoy it.

I think if you buy a complete game from the devs then they don't always provide a key for another vendor. In the case of MouseCraft it was a beta purchase, with a final key forthcoming when the game was finished. So I'm just converting a promised key from one vendor to another. When I bought Downfall before it came to GOG, it was a straight buy from the dev, no additional keys offered. So I ended up rebuying it on GOG.

EDIT: Better phrasing, hopefully. :)

tinyE: XD I thought this was a joke.

I will need to have this game but not at the price....not right now. Sure fire wishlist though. :D

I love stupid shit like this.
Same here. I'll wait for a slightly better discount, but it looks really cute and entertaining.
