Empire Rising

Moebius, a contemporary metaphysical adventure from the master storyteller Jane Jensen, the creator of Gabriel Knight and Grey Matter, is available for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com for $29.99.

When a secretive government agency enlists Malachi Rector to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, he is left with nothing but questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him--a dealer of high-end antiques--to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come everytime Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles. The game comes with the original soundtrack both in high-quality MP3 and FLAC format.

If you miss the times when adventure games were played mostly for the great and immersive storytelling, not just for the puzzles, humor, and views, be sure to get Moebius for $29.99 on GOG.com.
Let's pop it in the forums.
Looks nice; but the pricing point will cause the same discussions like every time before.

Although I still hope that SOMEDAY most around here will understand that GOGs pricing is never something writen in stone and YOU effictvly decide at which pricepoint you´ll buy the games...

Price seems fine to me for what you're getting. Tbh what amazes me is that Tesla Effect is only $20, given how great it looks.
Not my cup of tea but looks fun for adventure fans.
Price is a tad steep....

So you kinda expect it to be 5-10 bucks?.

Heh, it's kinda structured like a movie, the credits play at the beginning in this intro thing with (voiced) music, "Directed by Jane Jensen", I'll try it out now.

With a price of $29.99 this game will sell as "good" as Jack Keane 2. :D

For me? Proberbly 10€ would be a nice pricing point; that would equal a 50% off. So it´s wishlisted for now and will be picked up then.

BUT: If I were more in adventures, I would have instantly picked it up---this game looks like nice work, and, which is most important, it looks like done by hearth.
So no, I´m completly fine with that pricing point, no wish to comlain!

No, No, No!!!
You´ve got it wrong: Jack Keane 2 even sold bad when it was on heavy sale and STILL sold very bad.
The pricing point at launch doesn´t matter for those who aren´t diehard fans of the games´ genre!
They wouldn´t have picked it up anyways, as long as it´s not on sale!

YAY! It always feels like Christmas when I get a game I've already backed over a year ago.

Now I just need to find some time to play it.

I dunno... I like adventures but i'm not a "diehard adventure fan" so i would never pay 30 bucks for an adventure.
And even some great adventures like Daedalic's Deponia series and Chains of Satinav "only" cost $19.99 here so $29.99 for Moebius is too expensive IMO.

And let's not forget that Moebius isn't even half as awesome and exciting as Jack Keane 2! I think people are just scared to buy it because it is too awesome. :D

Wait til Dreamfall Chapters comes out (and if it comes to GOG even) -- that will be at least 29.99 if not more....

I don´t know that much about Moebius but wasn´t it announced to be an extremly long adventure, proberbly as long as two episodes of Deponia?

Oh, and @JackKeane II: Couldn´t it be that the magazine reviews just were so bad that nobody wants to buy it?
Just finished the first puzzle with the historical figures. Thoughts:
- I like how everything is narrated, so you click on every item in Malachai's office and he gives a little description.
- Voice acting is actually pretty good, it does sound kinda "soapy" but it fits.
- Music is cool.
- The game has nice atmosphere, as I mentioned the credits are at the start of the game, it's obviously going for a "movie" feel like GK2 I guess. Has a very polished feel.
- The 3D models and animations are kinda crap, it isn't a big deal given it's an indie game, but it is noticeable because during dialogue it goes close up. Movement is also a bit wonky.
- I like how the main character has his own distinct personality, many adventure games give protagonists a bit of a blank-slate role.
- It's pretty cool how you can get Malachai's phone and get information on people.

This gives me a terrible David Cage impression... :)
But I hope this one will be much better than his games :)
