Empire Rising

Moebius, a contemporary metaphysical adventure from the master storyteller Jane Jensen, the creator of Gabriel Knight and Grey Matter, is available for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com for $29.99.

When a secretive government agency enlists Malachi Rector to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, he is left with nothing but questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him--a dealer of high-end antiques--to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come everytime Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles. The game comes with the original soundtrack both in high-quality MP3 and FLAC format.

If you miss the times when adventure games were played mostly for the great and immersive storytelling, not just for the puzzles, humor, and views, be sure to get Moebius for $29.99 on GOG.com.

htown1980: Anyone know how long the game is?
avatar
Niggles: Kickstarter page says 10-20 hours
Thanks!! That's a fairly wide range...

I assume Crosmando is furious about this game's length...

No I'm more furious at this annoying tablet-y UI to be honest.... also for some reason the game isn't giving me more dialogue options with this woman character even though I researched her and did the "datapoints" thing

Well at least you're furious!!! :)
Yeah but if an adventure game makes you angry, it's doing it's job, it's better when you figure it out.

Oh man this lack of a right-click is killing me, I need to click once for a radial menu to come out, and THEN examine or use. Also you can't hold down a key to see all objects of interest, you need to open the top menu and select the "bullseye" picture.

RadonGOG: Looks nice; but the pricing point will cause the same discussions like every time before.

Although I still hope that SOMEDAY most around here will understand that GOGs pricing is never something writen in stone and YOU effictvly decide at which pricepoint you´ll buy the games...
avatar
Crosmando: Price seems fine to me for what you're getting. Tbh what amazes me is that Tesla Effect is only $20, given how great it looks.
Yes I can't understand that pricing for the Tesla Effect either. I don't expect a new release game to go for those prices, especially with the production involved. What I can never understand is people expecting a new release game to be at prices similar to a game 10 - 20 years old. Now not paying $90 AUD for a new release game, that I can understand.

Niggles: Wait til Dreamfall Chapters comes out (and if it comes to GOG even) -- that will be at least 29.99 if not more....
I backed that one as well, I guess I'm into Adventure games.
avatar
Mivas: At least he is trying to do something new... as opposed to a majority of his AAA colleagues.
avatar
Novotnus: I don't mind the way he tells his stories (interactive fiction is as good as any other genre). The stories, on the other hand... well, they can do without casual sex (with and (un)dead guy in one instance) and those characters could use some actual personality :)
You've piqued my perverted interest now :)

I'll just leave this here and run...

GOG.com: [...] be sure to pre-order Moebius for $29.99 on GOG.com.
Call me reckless, but when you pre-order a game now to have it available at now + 3 seconds, that ain't a pre-order anymore ;)

Screw RPS

I notice they even put something at the end saying that the protagonist is sexist, lol

Dang. With all the pre-orders happening lately, I didn't notice anything wrong even looking at your post. Thanks for the heads up!

At first I read that as Cheapskate Bay Bridge. :P
So, this is the only release for today? Pre-orders now count as new games, it would seem. Still, at least we have a fun sale. :)

The game I'm talking about is here on GOG :)
And you'll have to go through a lot of QTE 'fun' to get to that sex scene :)
