History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest, the classic World War II first person perspective shooter with both extensions: Spearhead and Breakthrough, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

There are some memorable moments in the history of computer games. Among them, the Allied forces' landing on the Omaha Beach, depicted in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, remains one of the strongest and most realistic. As an American infantry veteran, Mike Powell, you land on the sandy shore of Normandy to witness a massacre among your fellow troops. The continuous fire of MG 42's cutting through people like hot knife through butter, making it impossible to capture the enemy bunkers. In that deadly chaos, with a Bangalore pipe-bomb clutched tightly in your hand, you make your way towards the far end of German fortifications. The lives of the many, and the success of the entire offensive, literally lies in your hands. That's only one of the many dramatic highlights of this game.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest takes you to the fronts of World War II and let's you take part in some of the allied forces most crucial operations. The game became famous for creating a believable and suggestive image of battle conditions with a real infantry soldier in the role of the game's hero. The War Chest edition includes the original campaign that will take you from German bases in Algiers, through the D-Day landing in Normandy, to the occupied France, and both Spearhead and Breakthrough expansions. With hundreds of carefully scripted events to intensify the action, realistic setting, historic missions, and excellent voice acting (including Gary Oldman as the protagonist of Spearhead), this game will take you on a cinematic, action-packed adventure of a lifetime!

Experience the World War II in its hours of horror and moments of glory in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest, the critically acclaimed FPS classic, for only $9.99! Do you have what it takes to make Ike proud, soldier?
I don't know why I'm surprised when I see a new "old" EA release show up, they have got the largest vault of "acquired & abandoned" titles .... I doubt they -could- run out of things to dig up and release on GOG.
Regarding WWII FPSs, another good one from the same time was Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Activision is already in GOG, I hope to see this one here in the future

RTCW is owned by Zenimax.

Zenimax? I know Zenimax is the owner of id Software, but the rights aren't Activision, who published the game?

Originally Activision published the game, but they no longer own it.

If you need further proof, look at the publisher for RTCW on Steam :P

Protoss: We would like to know, if any historian knows, if it is true that American soldiers did a lot of friendly fire on Omaha Beach.
avatar
Licurg: I'm not a historian, but I read quite a few books about WWII and don't recall reading about any excessive friendly fire on D-Day.

EDIT: Editing function is now fixed. YAY! :D
Many thanks, your reply is very much appreciated.
It's been a while since I've bought anything from GOG, but this is an instabuy for me! I played this game and its expansions to death when I was younger! I'm looking forward to reliving those great memories!
I'm running out of money but this is tempting oh so tempting.
This is good.
Airborne is a good game too IMO, and the disc version is annoying as it forces Ageia Physics and some other crap. Hope it comes here as well.

Pacific Assault was shit, as I recall.

It was ok, for the most part. The one thing, however, that I found absolutely infuriating was that one mission in which you had to fly a bomber. It was way too long and virtually unplayable with keyboard+mouse. >_<
