Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest, the classic World War II first person perspective shooter with both extensions: Spearhead and Breakthrough, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

There are some memorable moments in the history of computer games. Among them, the Allied forces' landing on the Omaha Beach, depicted in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, remains one of the strongest and most realistic. As an American infantry veteran, Mike Powell, you land on the sandy shore of Normandy to witness a massacre among your fellow troops. The continuous fire of MG 42's cutting through people like hot knife through butter, making it impossible to capture the enemy bunkers. In that deadly chaos, with a Bangalore pipe-bomb clutched tightly in your hand, you make your way towards the far end of German fortifications. The lives of the many, and the success of the entire offensive, literally lies in your hands. That's only one of the many dramatic highlights of this game.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest takes you to the fronts of World War II and let's you take part in some of the allied forces most crucial operations. The game became famous for creating a believable and suggestive image of battle conditions with a real infantry soldier in the role of the game's hero. The War Chest edition includes the original campaign that will take you from German bases in Algiers, through the D-Day landing in Normandy, to the occupied France, and both Spearhead and Breakthrough expansions. With hundreds of carefully scripted events to intensify the action, realistic setting, historic missions, and excellent voice acting (including Gary Oldman as the protagonist of Spearhead), this game will take you on a cinematic, action-packed adventure of a lifetime!

Experience the World War II in its hours of horror and moments of glory in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest, the critically acclaimed FPS classic, for only $9.99! Do you have what it takes to make Ike proud, soldier?

Elmofongo: Far Cry, Half-Life 2, Rainbow Six 3, Domm 3 would like to have a word with you.
I just meant it began the whole "cinematic" nonsense.
This is the best MOH game by far and a steal at $10. Definitely wishlisting this for when my wallet refills...

I think it was really CoD4 that convinced everyone to start going that direction, though.

Yes of course, but what was to become Infinity Ward laid the groundwork here. That is all I am saying. My favorite FPS games of all time came out after this, FEAR and Crysis, so I know it wasn't all downhill. This is the origin though.
Great release

Yup. It's just the age old argument of which thing is the "real" genesis: the game that first introduced the idea, or the game that popularized it.

jamyskis: Just out of curiosity, how are GOG's legal eagles handling the issue of sales to Germany with regard to this and other WW2 games? I know the GOG version of Bloodrayne at the very least has a modified cross and most of the WW2 games I've played off GOG have iron crosses instead of swastikas.

MoH:AA has the full lot - Hitlergrüße, swastikas, SS symbols, the works. Technically speaking, GOG is breaking the law by allowing it's sale to German customers (not that I personally give a shit).
GOG isn't operating in Germany. They are no more liable for selling to a German than if a German went to Poland to buy it in person. However, the person buying a game that is prohibited in their own country may be breaking the law, depending on how this nation defines the prohibition.

GOG probably has a financial interest in blocking games that are illegal in certain countries since those countries could conceivably block access to GOG in various ways, including ordering local financial institutions to refuse payments to GOG. However, this would be by choice, out of respect for the laws and culture of a foreign nation, and not by edict.

SpaceManThe: Have they given up on Macs already?
Are we going to have to read this every time a game comes out for Windows only now?
Those expansions packs are the shortest ones I've seen for any game. I completed them both (boxedl versions) in one day, and I'm a slow and methodical gamer.
OMG! I love these games. I'm so glad to see them here. I will be re-purchasing them here also. Some of my personal favourite FPS moments came from this game and its expansions. Actually MOH was one of my first ever PC games. Awesome!

tfishell: Awesome, older FPS! :D Well done GOG.

tburger: No, NO! BOOOOOOO!!! Remember? ;-)
(I was going to reply to you about this, but I wasn't sure to what degree it mattered. ;-) I think I said something about my "limit" being around 2004 or 2005. The vanilla game originally came out in '02, so that's even closer to a good year. But I'm still with you, mate, in hoping to see older games remain the focus. :)
Well, this was an unexpected but very nice surprise. :) I truly hope that that may mean EA will eventually release The Sims (+expansions) here.
This game was absolutely jaw-dropping when it came out in 2002. Except for its lack of horses and bayonets, of course. But instead of War Chest, I would have preferred the 10th Anniversary Edition, which has an awesome soundtrack CD included in the boxed version. The Medal of Honor Theme is easily one of the best and most merorable gaming compositions ever. The soundtrack would have enhanced the value of this (already great) package a lot.
This was a great game, luckily released before a glut of WWII shooters killed my interest in the genre.Still, considering it's October, I would have rather seen Clive Barker's Undying or something...
