Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.
As a female gamer I am happy for once that GOG has an anime or anime style game. For all those complaining about sexualized the girl, I think you need to step off. There are plenty of other GoG games where you do far worst ranging from killing innocent people or **coughs** Leisure suit Larry where its all about getting some.

I would love to see GoG start even adding real Japanese visual novels to play through as well. Bring on the Otome games for us female gamers who love anime style art work. I did end up getting long live the queen and can not wait to see the different endings as I play through.

If you do not like the art style or the form of playing of this type of game just move onto another game that you might like but trying to make it out like its the devil game and should not be on GoG well then I guess we should look at ALL the games on gog and start removing all the ones that may or may not have sexualized a woman.

So when it comes down to it... From a female player THANK YOU gog for adding this kind of game, and i hope to see in the very near future you guys add English translated Japanese visual novels for both male and female gamers.

Long live the Queen!!

mqstout: Now that this kind of game is here, does that mean we'll see Black Chicken Studios games (Academagia/Scheherazade) on here now? I promise I'll be a day-1-buyer of them. I've been wanting to try them for ages!
This. GOG...make it so!
This would be an insta-buy if it were akin to a Nippon Ichi title like Disgaea, but I'm a sucker for anime graphics (for better and worse). I'll wishlist this for now until I have some more money.
I found the cover art with a scantily dressed fourteen-year-old, combined with a game description gushing about how this game is awesome because you'll get to see her die over and over again, to be pretty disconcerting, honestly. Still, that was only a first impression; the screenshots and trailer don't support it. I'll look for reviews around the web, and then we'll see.

Now please can we have Bunny Must Die on GOG?

I already own the game from elsewhere, but I want to read the GOG release thread for a Metroidvania starring an anime-styled bunny girl.

xa_chan: I couldn't have said better than both of you. No wonder we never see any japanese translated game of that kind if the prejudice are so high.
That's patented bullshit. We have Guilty Gear here, and the reception (to Reload, because it's good) was positive.

...

so i guess you missed the "...of that kind" part of my message, because if you sincerely think Long Live the Queen and Guilty Gear are the same kind of game, we might have a problem, here ^_^
Of that kind or not, there's still a humongous lack of Japanese games in the western market. At least in Europe, that is.

tajemniczybeton: Not in the CODBLOB era!
Don't play CoD on easy mode then.

ditto, I have it on Steam already but I would get it again here..it's surprisingly good if you can get past playing a petite girl in a playboy club bunny outfit.
Ok, I've played the demo and I encourage all sceptics to do the same - as a very short demo it won't take much of your time but will definetely shed a completely different light on your perception of the game.

The demo ends at Week 10 at which time you you either feel that you haven't made much progress or that you've made the wrong kind of progress, because the game's more complex than at first glance.
You have to raise, manage and balance skills and mood through taking classes and your interaction with others/ choices you make.
There are fourty two skills, eight different states of mood and thirty nine classes.
The tricky thing is that you can only pick one class for the morning and one for the afternoon and won't know where your choices led you to until the end of the week - and that might be a week too late, as you have no idea beforehand what encounters you'll have and what skills would serve you best in each case (at least in your first playthrough).

There's not much variety of gameplay (or even much of "gameplay" in general), there are no animations, nor voices and some repetative and rather annoying music (at least in the demo). But the scenes of dialogue and choices depend on what classes you took and how you managed your skills and mood during the week and that's what makes you want to continue.
There's also replayability value to it as there's a ton of choices that - I assume - lead to different endings.

RaggieRags: It always makes me sad to see people automatically connecting anime with hentai. Every genre is explored with this art style. It's like looking down on movies because porn films exist.
This couldn't be more true about any game than this release.
Now go and watch Hayao Miyazaki and stop with the... how did William Shakespeare say it? Ah, yes - much ado about nothing.
