Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

Wishbone: what you are presenting is a game with the same graphical style as hentai
avatar
RaggieRags: It always makes me sad to see people automatically connecting anime with hentai. Every genre is explored with this art style. It's like looking down on movies because porn films exist.
A hundred times this. If I could I'd make every one of them sit through Geneshaft, Serial Experiments LAIN and Infinite Ryvius.

Licurg: It's a game, there is no actual law-breaking...
Sorry I forgot a smiley.

But seriously: now we know which game to blame for teen pregnancies!

PMIK: You can't blame us for coming to these conclusions with the way the game is presented

G-Doc: This makes me very sad, actually. I made very sure to avoid any sexual innuendo and emphasize the challenging and complex gameplay in the news post I've written. Still, conclusions will be drawn from one controversial screenshot.
May I try to cheer you up? :) I did read the game's description, and I see the same enjoyable gameplay elements there that I've read about in the two reviews that were linked in this thread. The game description does clearly advertise the gameplay, not some sexual thrills. Though I wouldn't even have problems with the latter, if it represented the game accurately - but that's the thing, the more I read about this game, the less important the "sexual stuff" seems to be.

Even the screenshots are less sexual than this discussion would lead people believe. I mean, there is a screenshot with a giant squid apparently killing the princess, and people think about tentacle porn? Did they really look at the screenshot? Whatever the problem is here, I'm not so sure that it's the screenshot ... ;)

Starmaker: A 14-year-old dating a 31-year-old? Wtf.

jamotide: lool dating, they would just marry them, maybe even to a relative, and 14 would be pretty old.

Doesn't explain why she looks like 6 years old. Seems like an interesting game with terrible graphics, maybe there are mods for people who don't like toddlers?
toddler who rules a kingdom? how cool is that? :D

I realize the game isn't aimed at that audience, but honestly, you couldn't tell that from the front page pictures. If anything it looks like a kids game. I get the feeling lots of people here haven't seen any recent cartoons, and have only viewed anime-style art in porn. :-(
Your comment pretty much sums up what's wrong with people, so I'll expand on your post a bit because there are a number of comments in here that gave me cancer.

1. Anime is not (usually) kiddie cartoons, nor is it porn.
2. Watching a number of uncut, Japanese dubbed, supposed kiddie (e.g. Sailor moon) anime should make it pretty obvious that it wasn't just aimed to 8yr old girls, but then, people wouldn't know that apparently.
3. People who fret over this game's style being used in porn shouldn't be the ones wielding pitchforks in the first place, it means they know more than they say they know, which is pure hypocrisy, besides being totally uninformed.

Wishbone: See Judas, you know all the context because you've played the game. But the game card is supposed to tell people about the game who know none of the context, not having played it. As such, what you are presenting is a game with the same graphical style as hentai, a screenshot with a comment saying "My, what big breasts you have", a screenshot showing tentacles and a screenshot of a 31-year old male talking about having an affair with a 14-year old girl. You're not exactly going out of your way to try to avoid all the possible prejudices people might connect with the art style, now are you?

JudasIscariot: As I said before, the game has nothing carnal in it, implied or otherwise.
You know, repeating yourself here will not make the game card any less misleading for new readers. I know what you've said. I believe what you've said. What does that have to do with anything?
There's nothing wrong with the way the game is presented. The issue is in the people who saw what they want regardless the description.
What good it does for GOG? I think all kind of games should be made and should be available regardless their gameplay or their contents and have the same dignity as a product. Customers will have access of all the games and decide what they want and what they like. In that GOG proves to be good and liberal.
and I see someone has created a GOG mix for this titled "Trash"

Fortunately, you can't. Still, I'll admit that the hentai comparison was out of place. I did not mean to imply that everything featuring manga-style art is pornographic in nature. I am well aware that this is not the case. So my apologies for that.
a technical question - is it possible to win the game with EVERY style? or is there only one good ending?

No worries, it is a common problem. Most games that acutally make it to the west, are so called "bishoujo" games, which are visual novels with lots of hardcore content. But these games like Long live the Queen, 100% Orange Juice (which was on the last indie royale bundle) and a lot of indie and doujin games only share the common anime art style.

Not long ago TB reviewed one that popped up on steam, Unholy Heights the name I believe, where you have to manage an apartment complex for monsters xD

The outcry here isn't predominantly about the game card being misleading; it's about the game being tasteless, sexual, and probably involving pedophilia. I'd say that JudasIscariot's comment is pretty much the final word on that, so pretty on-topic...
As a big fan of anime, this game looks appealing to me. In a way, the princess's attire reminds of Madoka Magica, which is a pretty darn good start. :)

You know, if you're an up and coming Japanese developer, trying to do your own thing with limited funds and you get your game translated into another language, it's pretty damn sad that in western culture your game is immediately compared to porn just because of the art style, and some "racy" comments. Because god knows no western releases have that.

I expect better out of people on this forum.

You people are just as bad. Maybe we don't have problems with porn, but we just don't want characters to look like 6 year olds because we just hate kids?
