Are you hurt? Because you apparently just fell from the sky. Um, my place or your's, angel?

Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits and Misses!, a collection of six adventures that will have you looking for love (in all the wrong places), is available on GOG.com, for only $9.99.

Hey, who is a babe like you doing in a place like this? The correct answer is Larry, by the way. Larry Laffer. Aroused to meet you. I have to confess something: I lost my virginity. Can I have yours? You know, I'm a man, you're a woman--just do the math. By the way, those are very nice legs. What time do they open? Seriously, I'm not Fred Flintstone, but I can make your bed rock. Oh, come on! I'm doing you a favor. I know people who know people who could get you in touch with people who can get you into the movie industry. That's right babe, daddy can make you a star! So, where are we going, your place? What do you mean "stop following you"? This wouldn't be much of a date if I did. What are you talking about, what restraining order? Oh yeah, like that could ever get in the way of true love! You're breaking my heart. Seriously, I will never recover from such loss. Damn. Another one gone. And she was like a solid five. Maybe even a slightly outdated six. Oh, hi! Who is a babe like you doing in a place like this?

Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits and Misses! is your first exclusive chance to play the long lost Leisure Suit Larry 4: The Lost Floppies! Not. Just kidding, the infamous floppies are still missing, and the fourth game of the series remains Al Lowe's sweet mystery. The package, however, includes the following classic adventure games from the chronicles of the wannabe notorious womanizer, Larry Laffer:
-Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards (both the original and the VGA version!)
-Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking For Love (In Several Wrong Places)
-Leisure Suit Larry III: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals!
-Leisure Suit Larry 5: Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work!
-Leisure Suit Larry 6: Shape Up Or Slip Out
But that's not all. From GOG.com, the company that likes it cheap and unprotected, you would expect something extra, now wouldn't you? Especially with our milestone 500th release. Something that would make you blush (with excitement). That's why, with the Larry games' collection we give you its spiritual (if that word is even remotely appropriate here) predecessor:
-Softporn Adventure

Are you ready for the ultimate conquest? Don't forget to use your breath spray to feel fresh, minty, and attractive as you take part in Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits and Misses!, for only $9.99.
AHA!

Knew I wasn't going crazy... as I said - would've been nice if a PDF of this could've been included as an extra - as it DID come with the physical release of this... about 15 years ago!!

Too bad it doesn't contain 7 and there used to be a collection with this name that also included the Laffer Utilities.
A bit underwhelming for the 500th release to be honest.
Having tried King's Quest, Police Quest, and Gabriel Knight, I have come to the conclusion that I'd rather sit motionlessly in my chair staring at the wall than play Sierra adventure games. But obviously it's always nice when a big-name title comes along--I can wait another week.

kalirion: Unfortunately that won't get you past the "DRM" question.
avatar
Fred_DM: you're not seriously implying that a DOS-era copy protection question qualifies as DRM, are you?!?
It's loveable DRM. Modern DRM is the stuff chaffed ass-cheeks and itchy, asshair-tugging dingleberries are made of.

-Jańciu, boli cię głowa? :-D
Cała ku*wa pier**lona przyjemność po mojej ku*wa stronie :P I still have the game on disc and thankfully it can be run on Windows XP
I don't usually care about the reputation thing but, seriously people, what's with the downrepping in this thread? So a person thinks these games are not interesting and dares say something against them and how disappointing it is for a #500, that's a reason to downrep? Jeez. Feel free to click the minus in this commentary then, cause I have no intention of getting these games either.

Darling_Jimmy: Anyone else having trouble with the age verification questions, I found answers:

The answers are included with the games :D. You should find them in the Start menu :D.
Great release

Isn't this the type of thing that should be removed from GOG releases? I remember good ol' Neverlock removing things like this.

Hmm, wonder if it still works....

Edit: Nevermind, LSL 5 is the only supported game

Do other old GOGs still have the "manual search" copy protections? Lands of Lore for instance?

Dragonsphere still has it iirc.

Using scummvm would be the solution here. So far they removed copy-protections for games like Monkey Island in cases they were sure they don't get into trouble, but for most other releases they keep them. All games in this bundle work with scummvm, so it's maybe an option to get the permission from codemasters and then contact the scummvm-team to get a copy-protection-free build.

Edit: About the age-verification, I think it's a funny thing for nostalgia reasons and so they should be kept. Using the shortcuts is enough. If possible they should maybe add that information ingame or before the game starts.

Depends if it's possible to remove it they often do or in the case of Lands of Lore it does not have it since GOG's release is the CD rom version which already had the manual based copy protection removed anyway.

But games like Ultima 6 which has 3 of them one at the start two during the main quest chain and Ultima 7 which had 2 and 7 part 2 would be hard to remove since there quite embedded into the game's code

It really depends on a game. For example, for Incredible Machine, you can click on anything, and you will play the game. In some games it's not removed.

Sometimes it can't be removed, because manual copy protection is inside the game (like part of the story).

I would like to see GOG removing such things if possible, but I don't demand it - I understand this may be sometimes very hard or impossible (GOG doesn't have access to source codes)

Manual lookup is never removed in gog releases.
