Brandon, I have your saw!

Legend of Kyrandia, an unforgettable, classic point-and-click adventure game packed with wondrous locations, mythical creatures, and downright evil sense of humor, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Welcome to the wonderful kingdom of Kyrandia, a land of astounding beauty, home to countless enchanted creatures and spellbinding locations. Alas, dark clouds gather on the horizon: Malcolm, the court jester, has done something terrible and the magical realm will never be the same again. Unless you, Prince Brandon, can achieve the impossible and outfox the demented joker. Remember when adventure games challenged you to beat them, without cutting you any slack? Remember when you had to draw a location map not to get lost in the maze, or were wary of crossing a funny-looking bridge, in fear of falling to a terrible death? Legend of Kyrandia, in all its classic charm and glory, is the epitome of those games.

Legend of Kyrandia is one of the gems of the classic adventure games era. First in the series of three titles, it established the original setting of Kyrandia, a land of unparalleled beauty, and, at the same time, menacing dangers. Celebrated for its unique tone of mischievous humor and inventive quests, it has also been considered a milestone in adventure games evolution. The game introduced innovative elements to the genre, with extremely simple interface and creative use of inventory items. It also made you suffer and die in many imaginative ways (one of them including a particularly charming slasher smile and a very sharp saw).

Prepare for some old-school questing and lose yourself (literally) in a perilous kingdom of Kyrandia, get Legend of Kyrandia, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
By the way, the bad guy in this game is such a great character in the history of gaming.
It's about fucking time, GOG! =P I find it a bit odd though that GOG didn't release it for Mac as well whether in DOSBox or ScummVM (or whatever GOG decided to use for this one).

I've always known of the Kyrandia trilogy, but I've never actually gotten around to playing any of them. Now there's something to look forward to.

I'm still trying to figure out where that shower of classics. =P There's nly a week and a half left of summer, you know. Unless GOG decides to dump like 10-15 old games next week. Now that would be splendid, but it'd never happen.

And you get to play as him in part 3! ... I actually remember reading of how there was a way to gruesomely commit suicide in the uncensored version... just because.

Zacron: That is very true, but SVM offers MUCH better Touch Screen support, and is natively supported.

Then buy it and join us! we can play with up to 6 people. :P

fortune_p_dawg: I'm totally in for this weekend if I'm not blindsided by something (pregnant wife, packing to move, etc).
sounds awesome. :)

SirPrimalform: I wasn't suggesting you use DOSBox on your phone, I was saying that even if GOG had used DOSBox here you'd still be able to use ScummVM on your phone/tablet because the data files are the same. What GOG uses doesn't dictate what you use on your phone, thus it doesn't matter what GOG chose to use as you'd still have the same options for your phone.
I understand that. :) and besides, you need an android build of either one to make it work anyways.

tfishell: Eventually! :) Probably in the coming weeks. For right now, my money is going towards HIB 9.
Sounds good, just let us know.

BadDecissions: Remember when adventure games killed you completely at random for exploring, but you had to explore everything because missing anything prevented you from completing the game? Well, I wasn't around at the time, but I did try some early Sierra games, since you ask. I can't say I found that mechanic super amusing, though.

Still, for the price of $6, I'll probably give it a shot at some point, since people seem so enthusiastic about it.
Kyrandia is waaayyyy more forgiving than old Sierra games, mate :) You won't get killed every 5 seconds on every screen in this game.
I bought this game for $5 back in 1998 at the mall. The berry cave puzzle was terrible, but it's an otherwise nice game reminiscent of Kings Quest.
i was hoping the trilogy will be sold in a bundle for 9.99 and then instabuy!
When I think about what I paid for the box and CD versions...

I know my floppies were go longer any good after 1999.
\o/ I'm liking September so far! (gotta cherish it while it lasts)

If money is a problem, wait for the Christmas sale and buy them all for ~10 bucks then, assuming 50% off.
Very nice release!
My faith in GOG is restored... for now ;)
Excellent addition to the catalogue, thx GoG!
Was hoping we'd get a trilogy pack, or some such. Still, nice release. Already own this one, so I'll wait for the sequels.
Nice release was a bit of a surprise but cool.
Amazing! My favourite part is "The Hand of Fate", but this one also great and I'm ready to buy all trilogy. There are too many good memories from childhood... Wonderful games. And I liked Kyrandia much more then King's Quest series.
Just wondered, if the 2 other Kyrandia games get released on GOG, will we see Blade Runner afterwards?
