Brandon, I have your saw!

Legend of Kyrandia, an unforgettable, classic point-and-click adventure game packed with wondrous locations, mythical creatures, and downright evil sense of humor, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Welcome to the wonderful kingdom of Kyrandia, a land of astounding beauty, home to countless enchanted creatures and spellbinding locations. Alas, dark clouds gather on the horizon: Malcolm, the court jester, has done something terrible and the magical realm will never be the same again. Unless you, Prince Brandon, can achieve the impossible and outfox the demented joker. Remember when adventure games challenged you to beat them, without cutting you any slack? Remember when you had to draw a location map not to get lost in the maze, or were wary of crossing a funny-looking bridge, in fear of falling to a terrible death? Legend of Kyrandia, in all its classic charm and glory, is the epitome of those games.

Legend of Kyrandia is one of the gems of the classic adventure games era. First in the series of three titles, it established the original setting of Kyrandia, a land of unparalleled beauty, and, at the same time, menacing dangers. Celebrated for its unique tone of mischievous humor and inventive quests, it has also been considered a milestone in adventure games evolution. The game introduced innovative elements to the genre, with extremely simple interface and creative use of inventory items. It also made you suffer and die in many imaginative ways (one of them including a particularly charming slasher smile and a very sharp saw).

Prepare for some old-school questing and lose yourself (literally) in a perilous kingdom of Kyrandia, get Legend of Kyrandia, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
One of my top requested to see on GOG. Great to see this game (and hope to see the second and third) on GOG.

fortune_p_dawg: I'd be down with that, so to speak, as well. Love those games!

Zacron: In that case, I think we should set up a time to play.
That, sir, sounds like an epic idea. However I've not played any of the HoMM games multiplayer, but I do find their single player campaigns right addicting.

I've not played them Multiplayer in some years, but I have set them up Hot-Seat and over a virtual LAN to be sure they still work, and they do. Though, not without some additional setup. What time zone are you in? And Would you be down for some HOMM 2? I prefer it more more than any other in the series. With 5 being a possible second choice/ game to play to add variety.
Excellent release, GOG!
Hooray for classic adventure releases. :)
Finally, I used to save special location for the songs it play. I really love this game. I'll wait for Chrismas, since I have enough of backlog of games already! :-)

(Besides, I kept playing the one I already own - like Might & Magic.

There was a lot of DOS games with lots of disk. Ultima 8 came with 8 disk, speech pack another 3.

On the related topic, I think GOG knew right from the start the hit games and the lesser hit games. And I think by following certain sites around, they also knew which games that will work right of the bat. They released it under schedule since they doesn't want to lose their customer, and missed most sale after a single Christmas (or other type of sale).

If not, they would have released games publisher by publisher, FIFO. Based on agreement they do. And they might release games that easier to made to work than more technical ones.

So I think the release schedule is under business decision, and not technical / or legal ones. My assumption.
So Legend of Kyrandia has finally arrived. =)

GOG.com: or were wary of crossing a funny-looking bridge, in fear of falling to a terrible death?
Remember when adventure games killed you completely at random for exploring, but you had to explore everything because missing anything prevented you from completing the game? Well, I wasn't around at the time, but I did try some early Sierra games, since you ask. I can't say I found that mechanic super amusing, though.

Still, for the price of $6, I'll probably give it a shot at some point, since people seem so enthusiastic about it.
Heck yes, GOG! :D Looks like your comment on the Facebook page was actually a strong hint. Another wishlist item with 1000+ votes bites the dust as "completed". ;)

But I do have to wonder, and maybe somebody can help me out here, with deals like Lands of Lore 1 & 2 and King's Quest 1-3 here, can the one book of LoK stand up on its own for 5.99? Is there enough content to justify the price tag? I know not everything is doing to be perfectly "even" (I mean you can get Ultima 7: Complete for only 5.99, and Quest for Glory 1-5 for 9.99), but I wonder - given how we normally see DOSBoxed games bundled - if a LoK 1 & 2 release for 5.99 would have been better, and then LoK 3 by itself for 5.99.

EDIT: Perhaps it could be compared to Simon the Sorcerer, who was released here one at a time?

I'm happy to see my favourite point&click series here, thanks gog! :)
Yes! Even more classic point-and-clicks! At this rate, my goal of rebuilding the huge adventure game collection I used to own certainly looks achievable. ^_^
I wasn't here for just a couple of weeks and you guys go on andв release two gorgeous games. Were you just waiting for me to leave into the wilderness??? WHY???

Well, just you wait till I grab my credit card…

I love YOU guys. Seriously <3

P.S. well, one word can change it all ))))

Kyrandia... series I have a love hate relationship with. Pretty graphics, good music and sadistic, sadistic puzzles. I'm looking at you fireberry cave maze. And here's for hunting for gems and other junk in order to solve puzzles..

It really depends on your opinion of the game. Personally, I LOVED Kyrandia. I even set up the SVM system on my Tablet to play it on the go. But I was not as thrilled with Ultima, or LOL. I love King's Quest also, and I think they are worth a lot more than they are selling for, but I do not think that LOK 1 is overpriced at all.
Haven't played this but old adventures are just somehow.. umm. magical? Will buy at some point.
