The anti-hero with a symbiotic blade returns with a vengeance.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/legacy_of_kain_soul_reaver_2]Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, fallen vampire’s personal vendetta turned into a video game, is available on GOG.com right now for $5.99.

Just two months ago GOG.com released Soul Reaver and you had a chance to meet Raziel, a vampire-turned-wraith reanimated in the Spectral Realm by The Elder God in order to kill Kain. Well, the fight is not over as Raziel needs to go back through time and continue his quest to destroy the almighty vampiric lord. Soul Reaver 2 picks up at the moment Soul Reaver left off--you’ve chased down Kain to kill him, he’s gone through some sort of time portal. And now it’s time to settle the score. However cliche the story might seem, Soul Reaver 2, even though it’s a combat-focused third-person action adventure, offers a brilliantly written and very intelligent gothic story. The characters, interactions, and tension between them are deep and provide very satisfying interludes between the bread and butter of the game, which is devouring Raziel’s enemies as he makes his way to a reckoning with his creator.

With a great story, beautiful graphics, and a lot of puzzle / platforming elements, Soul Reaver 2 is something more than your usual action-oriented romp. Drift away and kill some extra-dimensional demons in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 for just $5.99 on GOG.com.

serpantino: This is a great game but not having the original is a crime GoG! I know it's a pain in the arse to get working or is it a rights issue?
Many people have asked about Blood Omen. I get the feeling that GOG sometimes holds off on providing the MOST WANTED game in a series until the "lesser" ones have had an opportunity to sell. ("I want Blood Omen, but I guess I'll get Soul Reaver 2 in the meantime.") However, it could certainly be a tech issue.

Tried to play blood omen on the psx... frankly wasn't that great... or at lead I didn't find it that great. Too dark to see anything, tedious, etc...

That's because you played it on the psx... The PC version is far superior.

Lesser? Dude, Soul Reaver 2 is the best part of the series. It was the one with the biggest scores from critics, and also the one with the biggest sales figures...

I really enjoyed some of Soul Reaver 2 and was highly impressed when I first saw it (first PS2 game I saw back when PS2 was new.) but it got repetitive. Sure I'll say Blood Omen is better... though I don't know why I'm saying it lol. Guess I just preferred the more RPG feel.

gameon: I never had the chance to play blood omen. Whats the differences between that and soul reaver?

As i played alot of soul reaver, i'd say that it has cool characters and decent action. It does get tedious in some puzzles though. I remember the gold eye that you had to zap and quickly jump/move to another point quickly in order to progress. It was very specifically timed.
Blood Omen has a top-down perspective, and it's more of an action game with RPG elements. Also, the puzzles are too easy, at least in comparison to Soul Reaver.

gameon: I've only seen pics of it from old ps1 game magazines back in the day, lol. From your description it kind of sounds like baldurs gate.
You didn't read what i wrote carefully, did you? It's not an RPG, it's an action game with some RPG elements. There is zero customization, no skill trees(or skills for that matter) and all new abilities( there aren't that many of them either) must be learned from a specific place. Despite being kind of sandbox in design, it's actually quite linear...

It's nothing like Baldur's Gate, to be honest.

The closest comparison I can make is that it's a Gothic Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with better graphics and a MUCH better story.

lugum: no it isn't.

Thank you GOG.
I'm sorry is this the right room for an argument?

I played SR2 on PS2. I wasn't as thrilled with it as I was SR1. SR2 didn'r feel as open and there seemed to be more back tracking across the same areas to solve puzzles.

Sinizine: Blood Omen por favor. Or even Defiance. I want to play as Kain again.
I agree. I want the first game in the series. That was the only action RPG in the series and it was a classic.

I will still buy Soul Reaver 2 however.
Thank you, GOD! I mean, GOG!
GOG Y U NO BRING US BLOOD OMEN?!

/offtop

Great release, in my opinion game superior to the first Soul Reaver because of more dialogues and story, even though it doesn't have pseudo-open world.
Is this game a console port?
