They say the dead know no pain. Things are about to change!

Meet Raziel: a vampire-turned-wraith, who will show you how to have a soul-devouringly good time for just $5.99 on GOG.com

Soul Reaver is technically the second installment in Legacy of Kain series, but practically it’s a beginning of a new adventure. What is important is that the game brought the franchise into 3D and introduced a completely new character while maintaining the uniquely dark and seductive atmosphere. The player controls Raziel, once one of six powerful lieutenants of Kain who was later broken and killed by his former master. Reanimated in the Spectral Realm as a wraith by The Elder God, Raziel serves as the deity's "angel of death" and will not stop unless his five undead vampiric brothers--and Kain himself!--are destroyed.

The gameplay is flawless, fights are violent and gory, and the game requires you to shift in real-time between the material and spectral planes to solve puzzles and defeat monsters. Raziel, the series’ new anti-hero is a character who feels real despite his wraithlike nature. His striking visual appearance (a wrap hiding his jawless face, radiant pupilless eyes, tattered wings, and claws and feet), tragic nature, personality change throughout the game, and his blue symbiotic blade, made him one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history.

Once you get ahold of the Soul Reaver sword, you will never want to stop hacking and slashing, especially for just $5.99 on GOG.com.
YES.

So we can expect the rest of the LoK series I hope. Good show GOG!
Absolutely loved this game the first time I played it on PS1, heck I still OWN the game. Oh yes GOG, release Soul Reaver 2 ASAP. I have a PC version of SR2 but it is in Spanish and the voice dubbing does not make justice to the outstanding original English voice actors. I would buy the game on GOG just to be able to play the game in its original language.
I'm having some trouble calibrating my Joystick, does anyone manage to get it work? I don't feel like to play this with a keyboard.

Also, some flicks in the title screen

Many thanks GOG, this game is one of my fav games ever

The games internal gamepad controls seem to be bugged. Your Raziel won't stop walking right? You'll need to change it to keyboard controls and then use a mapping software to map the controls to the controller. If you are using 360 gamepad just get Xpadder or whatever you generally use.
Hm, can't download the Artworks file. I'll file a ticket if it's still not working tomorrow or so.

Starmaker: ...
Oh come on man, this is exactly the same situation as with the EA EULA that makes reference to Origin. It's just what Squeenix's current EULA looks like (because Deus Ex: HR has in game advertising).
This is the kind of Eidos' titles I want onboard, nice. :)
Yes oh yes!!

JudasIscariot: Wow, this game looks a lot better on PC than the PSP/PSN version...
Probably down to resolution... didn't the PS1 have a max res of 320x240? The PC version looks to be at least 640x480.

Gundato: I absolutely LOVE how this claim is made every time someone feels the need to stroke their e-penises....

Seriously, how about rather than running around rubbing your e-penises and pretending you are superior, you just acknowledge that there are different ways to enjoy games....
All this talk about rubbing or stroking e-penises has got me perplexed. I didn't know GOG issued such things to their members.

Going up to whatever your native resolution might be, including widescreen. Yes, of course the textures and general geometry definitely show their age, but it looks great at 1366x768 on my lappie.

It's games like these and Unreal that really have me perplexed that a lot of other 3D games of the same time period only offered a limited amount of fixed resolutions. It certainly makes these older future-proofed games stand out significantly in comparison.

Yeah for a game released what 13 years ago this future proofing resolutions keep it fresh.

Just look at this 1920x1080

I can download the artworks file just fine, but the avatars are giving me a 404 as someone already pointed out earlier in this thread. Would some kind GOG-person please fix?

Sequiro: snip
Okay, so it may not be perfect. It's probably the aspect ratio in that case... or maybe it really is too high a resolution.

Still it isn't locked to just 640x480,800x600,1024x768 like so many 3D games of its time... or even weirder resolutions when you keep in mind games like Outcast.

Oh no I agree the game holds up well because of that.

Here is how the game originally looked on the PSone

Being able to bump up that Res is great. sure the textures are still dated but the game is crisp and clear.
