Featuring the Fearsome Fangs of Fury!

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2, the action-adventure game following the exploits of the blood-hungry anti-hero Kain, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Kain, the Vampire Overlord had it all. He had the gruesome glamour, the sinister swag, the mighty magical blade called the Soul Reaver, and an army of obedient minions ready to storm the fortified gates of the great city Meridian. The world of Nosgoth was his blood-filled oyster. But then the Serafan Order had to show up with their fancy glyph magic and it all just went to hell. Well, not literally, because when Nosgoth is your home hell seems like a holiday resort, but still--the power and glory days came to a sudden and unexpected end for our blood-sucking anti-hero. Now, after a 200-year slumber, he wakes up to a twisted world where his brethren are treated like scum. And to make things worse the power of the Soul Reaver is now in the treacherous hands of the Serafan Lord. Take it back and make make sure that the city of Meridian once again finds its respect for the vampire kind.

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 is a third person perspective action game with many lavish locations to explore, legions of fearsome foes and bewildering bosses to slay, and a pile of puzzles to challenge your wits. The Games action-oriented 3D gameplay is more in the lines of the series' future installments, like Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, rather than its 2D predecessor.

Get your gruesome groove back and paint Meridian red in Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2, for only $5.99!

Tarhiel: Off topic: you know, from behind, Kain looks a bit like Geralt of Rivia. Alas, Geralt is cooler :)

Tallin: Untrue. Kain is a vampire ergo he has no body temperature ergo Kain is cooler...

Yeah.
Good one.

I just finished the first mission myself for the first time. First impression? Quite close to Defiance but still better than Soul Reaver 1&2 for some reason. I do worry about the annoying check point system but I guess it will have to do.
I wonder when we´ll finally see the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain of 1997...

TheEnigmaticT: There are licensing problems with Blood Omen 1; we're working on resolving them as we can, but we figured that you guys would rather have Blood Omen 2 now and Blood Omen 1 (maybe) later, than no Blood Omen at all.
Yes, I am copy/pasting this quote to everyone asking that question (assuming I see it of course) :P
For the love of god, WHY ARE YOU RELEASING THEM BACKWARDS????? I will not buy any of them till you release Blood Omen 1.

Keep fighting the good fight. Apparently it's not working, but whatever. I believe in you.

How is it backwards when they released Soul Reaver (the second game) first, then SR2 (the third game), then Defiance, and now BO2. It is out of order, but it's hardly backwards...

Anyway, see the quote above for why...
Hope the licensing problem can be resolved soon (or at all). BO1 is the game I want to play the most.... :D
Awesome. One more title remaining to complete series.

SpectralWanderer: Blood Omen 1's story is the entire foundation of this series (more literally so than usual - Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance literally revolve around it, and make significantly less sense when it isn't available).
You may be right about BO1 being the series' foundation, but it happens all the time whenever GOG releases a game from some publishers or resembling other very loved game in its genre. Suppose GOG hits us with Monkey Island1 tomorrow. I'm pretty sure half of the thread would be:
"Are you kidding me?? Where's MI2??????"
"Oh comeon, I need The Dig NOW. And Full Throttle. And also Maniac Mansion 1 and 2"
"What the hell GOG? Are you nuts?? This isn't Zak Mckracken. How can you do this to me?"

Swap these games with anything on the PC section of this page, change most posts to upper case and it'll be very very accurate. It's a very common (and very annoying) forum mentality.

But what I feel is even worse is that people don't read the f*ing thread before posting the same stupid question that was answered 30 times already. JMich is fighting an un-winnable battle there. People just don't care to read, God knows why.

Well, OK, I'll take your word for it. I do believe this is a special case and there's some justification, but I can only speak for LoK fans.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the issue of BO1 is probably that while Activision may own the rights to the game, Square-Enix likely own the rights to the name "Legacy of Kain", one of "those" issues.

Edit: I remember that Activision published the PC version, but I strangely overlooked the Acti logo on the back of the PS1.

Just doing my part to help repeat this statement :-)
