Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time casts you as Gage Blackwood, legendary Agent 5 of Temporal Security Agency (a kinder, friendlier TSA), who has saved Earth and time a few times already. The TSA has been closed down as the "powers that be" decided that time travel is too dangerous, but rogue Agent 3 manages to cause a temporal rip and Gage must once again travel back in time to capture her and protect the Earth from an alien invasion. Ok, it's not been a full 24 hours yet, so I'm still expecting what they're supposed to "deliver".

Fuzzyfireball: Nice release, I wonder how fucked the rights are for the first game.
I don't know about the rights, but it's a Windows 3.1 game. No DOS release and guaranteed to not work with any current Windows OS. Given the sizeable amount of games that GOG must have by now as potential releases I reckon that one's going to stay very low on their list of priorities while easier to release games get prioritised over it.

They're also doing a much better job of actually linking to the game's page rather than taking an obscure link on the end, almost as an afterthought.

Longcat: Well, Pegasus Prime is already implemented in ScummVM but they can't release it yet because of legal issues. So maybe, sometime later this year, you might actually e able to play PP on your PC:P
That is a Full of Win statement! I hope they get it here soon enough!

I have great memories of this series, though it hasn't been ten years since I played it. JP3 was the first one I had contact with, because of a small demo in a Myst Masterpiece copy I had. :)

JP3 is my favorite of the series. :D

This has probably been asked a million times before, but is it one continuous story from Journeyman Project 1 through 3 or just separate stories with the same premise?

Ahhh, that's a tough question. The first game has it's own story, and the second game has it's own story, but the third game has a story that builds on events and elements from both games before it. Though the first game IS skippable if you watch the recap in the second game.

It pretty much is (you're a member - and later the Commander - of an elite time travel unit which is tasked with studying and safeguarding history from bad guys), but you don't have to have played JMP or Buried in Time (JMP2) to know what's going on; the writers did a pretty good job of bringing you up to speed on what's happening and why during the prelude missions. However, if you did play both games, you get to really appreciate how well they were integrated into the plot and back story to Legacy of Time.

I'm guessing that the legal issues would be with Bandai Interactive, but the real challenge would be to get at the actual data files; IIRC, the game came with a Mac OS 9-native installer app.

Well, they could easily make a tool to extract the necessary datafiles, so that shouldn't be much of an issue. It seems it has more to do with time constraints on the licenseholders part, projects like ScummVM isn't really prioritized in the real world of game development. So I guess we are just going to have to be patient.

In comparison, they have been waiting on a green light to release the first Discworld game as freeware for the last three years, so don't hold your breath :P
