I'm not a corporate apologist in any way or form but it's fucking grating to see comments like these ALL THE TIME. GOG has no reason whatsoever to not include every language they can get their hands on.
That's freedom of speech. A very appreciated achievement of the modern societies. And to be clear: I'm NOT blaming our brave guys from GOG for this but Nordic Games and Deck 13. Perhaps there are legal reasons for this, but for me as a customer this is an unsatisfying situation and I wish to tell the responsible publisher and developer, that I'm not willing to buy the game on such terms - not here and not elswhere.

good release but...where is the First game?

What's this tendency of GOG to release other games in the series without releasing the first games?

We are still waiting for the first Journeyman project

We are still waiting for the first System Shock

We are still waiting for the first Blood Omen game

I absolutely HATE it when a series is incomplete here on GOG

It has nothing to do with "every language they can get their hands on", but with the fact that the original language isn't included. It might baffle you, but some people - like me - don't like to play translations, especially when they understand the original language.
If a game published originally in greek came here only in its english translation, you would be bummed as well.

hope you like our today's release - Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within is enriching our great adventure portfolio around The Book of Unwritten Tales & The Critter Chronicles.

Maybe some points for clarification:

German language: Unfortunately we are just the distributor for the English version and do not have any rights on the German one. You know that we are step-by-step adding German localizations as with the Gothic titles or The Book of Unwritten Tales Franchise, so that is nothing we do not want to do, we just can't do it this time legally.

The Fire Within = Das Auge des Schicksals?: Yes - Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within is the fully localized English version of the German language only release Jack Keane und das Auge des Schicksals

Jack Keane 1: We have no rights on the first part and therefore cannot offer this one.

Localization of Jack Keane 2: as I read here some comments that the English loca of Jack Keane 1 was not really good I can ensure that this is not the case for Jack Keane 2 - we have used several speakers from The Book of Unwritten Tales which was highly praised for its English localization.

Hope you will enjoy the game - release discount is valid for the first week.

Well, at least you made me smile with the freedom of speech thing. As with anything, that you can do something doesn't mean that you should, but anyway. The thing is that with statements like yours (no XXX, no buy) you sound more like a spoiled brat stomping it's foot down than a disgruntled customer.

In principle I don't disagree with you. There should be German and everything included. But I don't think GOG has shown so far to hesitate to include things like that and more. That's why I find statement like that on the first page bit tiring.

And how would a "disgruntled customer" sound, then ? "As a german-speaking person, I won't buy a german game if the german version is absent" seems perfectly reasonable to me...

I hate this rhyme, I really do. ;) Then I will go and buy Larry Reloaded instead. :p

Do you at least have the rights for German language versions from SpellForce? I've bought the Gothic series a third time when they got German language support here on GOG and I would do the same with entire SpellForce series. Would love to buy the latest installment of the series too. :)

You should'nt take the freedom of speech remark too serious. ;) Yes, my statement was short, but English isn't my native language and I'm a little bit lazy with learning my vocabulary and grammars. As I stated before: I love GOG, I really do and so I'm very disappointed if I can't buy a game here due such issues.

That one's probably stuck in publisher/rightsholder limbo. That one was made by Silicon Knights and published by Activision on PC, but SE has the IP now.

It is annoying, yes, but would you rather they released none of them?

Journeyman Project is likely hell of a load to get working (on 64-bit systems, which GOG supports), seeing how it's a 16-bit Windows game. The others I can only guess is due to thus far unresolved license issues that the sequels are not plagued by.

EDIT: Oh, the post above me says it doesn't look all that grim regarding Journeyman Project.

I should disclaim that we're not getting the original Journeyman Project, because that one would take way too much time and effort to get running on modern systems. However, we ARE getting Pegasus Prime, the enhanced remake of the first game.

It's nice when people who know what they are talking about come here and explain to others the complexities and difficulties that can go with IP rights. Hopefully the post from ThomNG will enlighten some people...
