So heinous are the crimes of witches that they even exceed the sins and the fall of the bad Angels; and if this is true as to their guilt, how should it not also be true of their punishments in hell? -- "Hammer of the Witches", Henricus Institoris, Anno Domini 1486

Inquisitor, the dark medieval story of witchcraft prosecution that looks and feels like a product of the golden age of PC RPGs, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99.

The world stands on the brink of collapse, and you, a member of the Holy Inquisition and a witch hunter, are the only force that can protect the faith, fight the heresy, and solve the conflict fueled by hellish forces. As one of three main characters you will delve into the gloomy world full of atrocious crimes and powerful enemies, and try to unravel the monstrous conspiracy that threatens the Realm. Soon, the burning funeral pyres will light your way and the screams of tortured heretics will let your enemies know that the fearless Inquisitor is here to investigate, judge, and punish.

Inquisitor, a game that's been developed and polished over the course of 10 years, tosses you into a large, open gameworld and a non-linear gameplay, which contains over 1,5 million words in its dialogs, side texts and descriptions. This story-driven action RPG will present you with hundreds of quests, items, spells, robust player statistics, and skill sets. You'll be following a gritty, mature, and captivating story that dares to go deep into one of the darkest chapters in the history of humankind. All this, and more, packed in the form of an RPG true to the isometric roots of classic PC gaming.

Unleash God's wrath on the heads of the heinous heretics as the Inquisitor, for only $14.99!

Bodkin: Priests in front of the Church? They just heal me, but poison remains :/
Yeah, enter the church, go to the dude who sells you stuff, and tell him to heal you. It'll cost you money, but also get you rid of poison.

He heals me for free. Might be because I'm a priest though.
Aah. Not viable option :)

I dont remember BG being that much of a pita :)

Caedryan: Nevertheless I just begun Planescape: Torment and told myself that this would be the only game I play now.

Fenixp: If you haven't finished at least BG games, PS:T, Arcanum and Fallouts, Inquisitor is not worth buying. Those games are cheaper and quite simply better. If Inquisitor was released back then alongside those gems, it would be barely remembered today.
I'm not sure - thing thing which I find intriguing is the setting and this whole "investigating against heretics" because I don't know any game which has done that to the extent where you could actually torture people.

I honestly never really got into Arcanum (I only played the remake of the first part), I cannot say why. It's strange because usually I get really sucked into those games. Played PS:T for 4 hours a day for the last week now...

i'm disappointed there is no wiki for the game with more info on spells/alignments (pagan etc.), or suggested builds as the character sheet while helpful to a degree, isn't much use for planning builds, which to me is half the fun of an rpg.

the spells/alignments look interesting and diverse though.

agree with the first review more than second, not a awful game but should of waited for a price drop before i bought it. have to agree with what they say about the journal this the lack of customization and the awful combat mechanics are stopping me enjoying what could of been a great game

Fenixp:
Could you post a link to that Czech walkthrough that you mentioned earlier? I'm kinda in need of a nudge in the right direction. Google translate would probably be enough to make it comprehensible.

Ask over here. It's walktrough posted on discussion boards, so you would first need to get trough czech directories, then figure out Czech quest name :-P

Ah alright. I did actually figure out what I was doing wrong almost instantly after posting my request, but in case I get stuck again, I'll ask in that thread.

I can't believe that just happened... I just confused Arcanum with Avernum. Shame on me.

No worries, on the bright side it perked me up quite a bit for awhile :)
