A strange planet. High-tech weapons. Alien-shooting, head-bashing Space Marines.

Infested Planet, a game in which you take command of a squad of 5 weathered Space Marines who share one mission: to relentlessly push back wave after wave of chitin-covered aliens and ultimately destroy them, is available 25% off on GOG.com. That's only $11.24* for the first week!

Many a time during the lengthy campaign you may find yourself having to pull back and regroup, but fear not - with some tactical skill, your men will find a way to beat the onslaught, distract the alien bugs and attack their hive-like strongholds before the enemies evolve into an even more dangerous breed. Infested Planet has lengthy campaigns, mutating aliens, real-time tactics in play and multiple upgrades for you to unlock as you progress through the game to better fend off the blue scourge.

As Rocket Bear Games, creators of Infested Planet, say themselves: “it's all about striking hard and killing lots of squishy alien bugs” - and few things sound better than that. For just $11.24 we can thoroughly recommend it for many an evening of world-saving and alien-slaying. The 25% off special release discount lasts until Thursday, November 13, at 10:59AM GMT.

**$11.24 is the price for this title in the US. Other prices will apply in different countries. If you end up paying more than than the US price, we will reimburse the difference from our own pocket, giving it back to you in store credit (this is what we call the "Fair Price Package").
And here's the next Indie release with regional pricing. Pass!

+1
If Mongolians don't have to pay half of their monthly salary for a video game, I'm not buying this shit.
Ugh. Another disappointing release day. Well, on the bright side, though, this makes other people happy, so that's okay! :)
I've actually been playing a lot (over 10 hours) of Infested Planet over the past few weeks, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game. I wasn't planning on releasing a video of my thoughts until next week, but I've released it (unlisted) on Youtube if you want some gameplay footage (in game gameplay starts around the 2 minute mark).

Let's Play Infested Planet

I've really enjoyed playing the game. It's not realistic, but it is fun and can be quite challenging (I still haven't beaten the 3rd to last mission). Great to see the dev in the forum too!

RocketBearGames: Hi Everyone,

I'm the dev for Infested Planet. Thought that I would pop in and answer any questions that you have.
Good of you to stop by :-)

1. Why regional pricing?

2. Why did you give GOG a trailer meant for another distributor?

3. Not so much a question, more of a comment: The trailer doesn't do a very good job of showing how the game actually plays.

First off, you're right that fans of indie games of this sort are happy today, and second, if GOG is being its usual self, I will guess that, as is usually the case, this string of indie games is the calm before the storm. That means a major and highly desired classic is coming soon.
For those who are fans of classics only and who didn't pick up all the Lucasfilm/Lucasarts classics, this is a very good opportunity to do so.

For those who enjoy indie endeavors, enjoy the new releases for the week.

drewpants: Oh Gawd damn it... Don't mention Space Marines GOG, I'd hate to see some evil company set its legal hounds on you. You know the scum-bags of which I speak...
Ah! You speak of Games Workshop (it's okay, you can name them). But they can't do anything about a game that uses the term "space marines" not after the "Spot of the Space Marines" fiasco, where a writer used the term for her book and GW got all shirty and had it removed from Amazon. This led to an outcry against GW with many pointing out that they didn't have a legal leg to stand on because the term had first been used in the 1920s in pulp sci-fi books and so was a part of general sci-fi lore.

People then pointed out the numerous occassions that GW had themselves ripped ideas from other places, such as the idea of Space Hulk (ripped from Aliens), and how after the release of Starship Troopers in the mid-90s, their Imperial Guard miniatures suddenly looked surprising similar to the designs in the movie. This, and many other things made them squirm somewhat.

Not surprisingly, Games Workshop then backed down - LOL!

So, in my view, anything that uses the term "space marines" gets a +1 from me, because everytime it is used (like in this game) a GW exec chokes on the carpet he's chewing, knowing they can do nothing about it! - LOL!

So this game is good, even if it's just for that. And the devs of this game should remember all this just in case they do get a C&D order from Games Workshop.

It was the only way to make sure VAT is included in the price and I wanted to have the same price as on Steam. I didn't want any one store to undercut the other.

Wishbone: 2. Why did you give GOG a trailer meant for another distributor?
It's the only trailer I have. I don't have the resources to hire the voice actor again, and I didn't think to have them say "GOG" and "Humble Store" when I did the original trailer.

That said, I was going to ask my trailer guy to cut off the end of the trailer. GOG told me that they didn't need me to do that, since they had in-house experts on it.

I think that it's tough to show off a strategy game in a a little over a minute. Strategy games tend to be complicated, so I tried to show the feeling of the game instead - fighting against overwhelming odds.

If you want to see raw gameplay, there should be Let's Plays online.

Hah. Good to know - I'll keep that in mind when the black helicopters from GW raid my house. :)

Now laughing because I had pretty much the exact same thought. If the trailer makes you think, "Oh damn, how the hell are you supposed to hold off THAT MANY enemies at a time?", then you know the gameplay is going to get more than a little crazy.

It's surprisingly addictive! And very fun trying out different strategies/loadouts. I love how you can instantly switch a squad's composition. In the real world, it's impossible for that to happen but it's great to test things out without punishment. Glad you found the video helpful.
Is that creeper world ?

Yes its very addictive. There are some missions that are crazy hard after the aliens begin addapting to what you are doing so it can get quite hard. Its always the question - do I defend this choke point or rush the alien nests to stop them throwing troops at me. Fast response time is the key in this game indeed :)

Telika: Is that creeper world ?
No Creeper World is totally different :) The most this game is similar to is the Starcraft battlenet map where you play marine mutation map where you attack enemy bunkers (if the aliens were marines that is) :) But only in the roughest form. The game is really unike.

This game is FANTASTIC. I loved every hour I spent with it (and I've spent many). If you're even mildly interested in it, pick it up. Worth every penny.
