Test your intelligent design!

Incredipede, an imaginative puzzle game with unique mechanics and remarkable art style, is now available on GOG.com 20% off. That's only $11.99 until Thursday, November 1, at 10:59AM GMT.

Creatures changing their ways and their physique over thousands of generations, adjusting to their ever-changing natural habitat? How impractical! Had there been a chasm in their path, they would have to wait hundreds of years and sacrifice countless legions of their brethren on futile attempts to get to the other side, before one of them was finally born with legs strong enough to complete the task. What a waste of time and energy. Why in the world would you want to wait for them to learn to solve their problems on their own? That's not the way nature works, I tell you. If they need need wings, give them wings! If they need gills, just strap some on them! Ha! Evolution--what a laughable concept.

Incredipede is an exceptional game on many levels. The first thing that instantly stands out is its art style. The world of Incredipede looks like a woodcut illustration of some XVIII century book. The unique look of this game is easily matched by its original concept. You help a strange creature named Quozzle reach its goal in a multitude of cleverly designed stages. To do so, you equip it with extra limbs and strap muscles on its body, to handcraft it into a fantastic specimen designed exclusively to conquer the obstacles at hand. But there's still a whole other layer to the game. The ability to produce your own levels and creatures, share them online, and browse other players' creations and solutions, make Incredipede a limitless sandbox for devious puzzles, mindblowing experiments, and perfecting your intelligent designs!

Step in to the beautiful, woodcut lands and become the Creator and master of faith of the strange creature known as the Incredipede, for only $11.99.
Basically I was repulsed by the trailer... it looked kind of gross..

Then I saw this video made by the dev of the game & pretty much loved the concept :

Please note that there might be a small SPOILER in the video as it shows how to beat a (fairly simple) level

Please note again that the video is made by the developper of the game, as he tries to beat his own level !

deadfolk: Looks very interesting. My only concern is that it appears you have no direct control over the creature. I understand why, but I can imagine yelling at the screen because she's not doing what I want.

And in the game, obviously.

N0x0ss: \You have direct control over the creature once you've given it muscles.. you can control its movements using the directional keys.
Ooh, didn't realise that. In that case, it's totally wishlisted.

Trilarion: Modern Indie games are kind of always the same: plattform or puzzle or casual action.

HiPhish: Or pondering to retro nostalgia.
Well, it all depends on perspective. In my book, all of those things are good.

G-Doc: Aaaah! Love it. I toyed around with Framsticks at some point, but didn't have the patience to do anything that interesting.
I too thought of Framsticks as soon as I saw the trailer. The game looks like a cross between Framsticks, Spacechem and Crayon Physics. It also looks devilishly difficult.

In my book, those kinds of releases have emptied GOG of all the excitement it still retained one year ago. I remember how exciting release-day still was then!!!
Nowadays, at least for my part, I have grown so used to being disappointed here that ironically release/day has become some sort of a joke. That is very sad. And the most strange effect of this going-down-the-hill is that it drove me to open a Steam account!!! Something completely unimaginable for me when the original GOG still existed.

This looks crazy; wishlisted :o

edit: there was a game that was released recently (earlier this year, I think) that was similar to this - where you had to build your own machines and use them to fight enemies. Anyone know what I'm thinking of?

Wow it looks amazing!! I love the tarot card-like medieval art and the creativity of the game.

Curious though, I saw Sandbox mode on one of the screenies. What does sandbox do?
btw, you can buy GOG key for Retro City Rampage on humble store, so it's possible we'll be seeing this for Incredipede too.

Oh, and this game looks incredible fun. I had my eye on it anyway, and I'll buy it probably this year, but not right now, sorry.

The art style is fantastic! And I like how the incredipede's eye is reactive.

I see myself buying this very very soon.

amok: and not to rain on gog's parade, but if you want to support the developer, then it is now the same price in humble store:

Hm, a pity that the GOG version doesn't have anything else going for it than avatars and wallpapers ... that makes it a lot tougher to compete with the Humble Store's offer. :(
