Test your intelligent design!

Incredipede, an imaginative puzzle game with unique mechanics and remarkable art style, is now available on GOG.com 20% off. That's only $11.99 until Thursday, November 1, at 10:59AM GMT.

Creatures changing their ways and their physique over thousands of generations, adjusting to their ever-changing natural habitat? How impractical! Had there been a chasm in their path, they would have to wait hundreds of years and sacrifice countless legions of their brethren on futile attempts to get to the other side, before one of them was finally born with legs strong enough to complete the task. What a waste of time and energy. Why in the world would you want to wait for them to learn to solve their problems on their own? That's not the way nature works, I tell you. If they need need wings, give them wings! If they need gills, just strap some on them! Ha! Evolution--what a laughable concept.

Incredipede is an exceptional game on many levels. The first thing that instantly stands out is its art style. The world of Incredipede looks like a woodcut illustration of some XVIII century book. The unique look of this game is easily matched by its original concept. You help a strange creature named Quozzle reach its goal in a multitude of cleverly designed stages. To do so, you equip it with extra limbs and strap muscles on its body, to handcraft it into a fantastic specimen designed exclusively to conquer the obstacles at hand. But there's still a whole other layer to the game. The ability to produce your own levels and creatures, share them online, and browse other players' creations and solutions, make Incredipede a limitless sandbox for devious puzzles, mindblowing experiments, and perfecting your intelligent designs!

Step in to the beautiful, woodcut lands and become the Creator and master of faith of the strange creature known as the Incredipede, for only $11.99.

lowyhong: Hi Colin! Out of curiosity, is your wife by any chance the Sarah Northway that made Rebuild?
She is! She also helped me finish Incredipede for the last six months or so. I owe her pretty big so I'm going to help her with a little game she's working on called Word Up Dog and then hopefully (if I can convince her) Rebuild 3 :)

ColinNorthway: If someone doesn't play Incredipede because they think it's too gross then they're probably not inately curious enough to enjoy the game.
Or more likely the art style is too gross for them

It's an interesting question. I get something being so gross you don't want to go near it. Like goatse gross. But Quozzle definitely isn't goatse gross. I can see her being challenging but I think to play Incredipede you need to be ready to challenge yourself in some ways.

Rebuild is an excellent game, despite its casual roots. There's so much potential in it. Hope to see a sequel that's 10x more complex sometime in the future though :)

Incredipede looks really good. Shame I'm burned out on purchases this month.

Have you tried the new Winter mode in the mobile version of Rebuild? It's pretty core.

You can always play the demo version of Incredipede on Incredipede.com for free. It's pretty limited compared to the full version though.
Thanks, I will try that first :)

jefequeso: I personally like the character. The impression I get is closer to that of a real animal (cute in its own way, but organic and functional) than a typical videogame creature.
I think that sums it up pretty nicely.

It makes me think of an insect.

I think part of it might be the thickness of the limbs and how they are jointed.

Mammals (or lizards or birds for that matter) don't move that way or look that way when they move.

Insects do.

I think if you removed that endearing big eye and replaced it with the multiple eyes of a spider, you might have gotten more players pretty grossed up.

As it is, you just look at that central very mammalian eye with the little limbs moving and you go awww.

Awesome artwork I gotta say.

I just finished playing the demo. Quozzle is absolutely adorable. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Quozzle is especially cute by giant sentient appendaged eye standards.

I can see myself getting stumped pretty quickly into the full game. The mechanics are rather hard to wrap your mind around, but I think I started getting the hang of things a little by the end there.

I'm afraid I simply do not have the money for this one quite yet, but I'm definitely going to be picking up Incredipede in the future, without a doubt. :D
I've only gotten past the first "gate", but I'm just loving this game. I don't quite get why some find her gross, but that might be because I'm "seeing" the functionality rather than just the visual appearance. However, after playing through a few "levels", I found myself starting to "care" for her in a way; probably because she's "my creation" and I want her to succeed, but also because of the "helplessness" in her movements. That alone makes for a great game in my book.

This is an absolutely fascinating game, well worth the price - given that you enjoy puzzles and don't get easily frustrated. You don't simulate "an organic contraption" in this game - you create a being, and then take it for a "walk".

I don't know if this is something that concerns you, but a couple of people are having issues with "Parameter Missing".

Worked like a charm for me.

Probably some specific glitch.

My gf finds the eye creepy... Guess there is no accounting for taste :P.
Will there be any mods for this?

I mean, I like the artwork, the 17-18th century woodcut style, but I woul really like to change the creature, aka I would like to change the color, maybe, the the whole form. Could I make a Godzilla-type or dinosaur thing out of it?

ColinNorthway: Hey everyone!
Hi! Welcome to GOG. I'm not into this genre but it's great that GOG supports a diverse range of games, unique Incredipede included. I hope you will find many fans here :).

I wouldn't call it gross, gross is something that makes me vomit. Quozzle looks just... like trying too hard to be unique and different and then it just reaches a point where the presentation doesn't really do anything for me. Don't get me wrong, I think all the overly cutsy Japanese and the brown-grey Western clichés are equally lame, but when you try go differentiate yourself too much from them you end up creating a third extreme, which is what most indy developers end up doing.
