lostwolfe: once again, beamdog and gog:

i own the originals here.

you'll pardon me for not shelling out what i think is sort of a king's ransom to buy this again with these little extras.

i'll wait until the price point drops a fair bit [ie: a sale] before committing.

i completely appreciate that you're releasing these, but:

a) i think the price point is pretty steep.
b) i think that it could have been handled better for those of us who already own these games.
Aren't the publishers different?

At this price, I'm waiting for a good sale myself.
Not fond of Beamdog, but great to see this version here as well.

Piranjade: Hmmm... If I did not like Baldur's Gate how are my chances of liking Icewind Dale?
It depends on what you didn't like about BG.

I liked IWD a lot because you get to roll your whole party at the start instead of recruiting a party of NPCs.

It is shorter, fairly linear, and more combat focused, so there is less story and role playing. I still felt like it had a lot of exploration though.

IWD also has an amazing soundtrack, with a couple of scores (the first town and the druid settlement) that still get stuck in my head once in a while.
I'm surprised to see such a low hype for this release. Maybe everybody is busying playing the game.
Cash grabs, cash grabs everywhere.

Luned: If you didn't like the companion NPCs in BG, in IWD you get to customize your whole party, and you get up to six characters in the party from the start, which makes the early going a bit easier.

jalister: The lack of companions and being able to make my entire party is one reason I liked Icewind Dale a little more than Baldur's Gate.

You could and can do the same in BG if you start a multiplayer game and play it alone.
Sounds good, but proberbly waiting for press and player reviews...
...BG II EE is called to be somehow not completly bug-free;would like to know how ID EE worked out!
I will get it eventually...
Just noticed this :P

Are they gonna do an EE for Planescape:Torment too ?
Definitely interested in this since Icewind has always been great for when you want a whole lot of D&D goodness without 8.7 million conversations. Hopefully someone will put out a full rundown of all the additions soon.

MaxFulvus: I also would like to have a French version for the original IWD 1 !

GOG, why not to add it now, considering the EE has a French version ? You can't say anymore it's a question of right issues !
Wasn’t a rights issue but a technical one. I don’t remember where I read it, probably in one of the sticky posts in the Icewind Dale sub-forum.
Even though I own the original, this is an insta-buy. I love that you can zoom in on the action while keeping a high-res UI, plus I know that supporting Beamdog on these remakes brings us closer to an official Baldur's Gate 3!!!
Nice release and I will eventually get this ..but for now Lucasarts gets all the juice ..

I've looked into this for a long time and I don't remember seeing anything official about it. I think they would be interested in doing it after they finish up with IWD2, and I recall reading somewhere that the creators of PST would have no objection to them making one.

Even though the original release of BGEE was really buggy, after about 6 months it was a very playable game and I think BeamDog has done an excellent job with these editions. The only thing that I worry about with PST is them adding content that doesn't fit quite right. PST is high art. That said, I'd love them do it so that PST can hopefully get into more people's hands that never played the original, as long as it is done with respect. I believe BeamDog is capable of doing that.
Nice! I will buy this someday. Will there be an Icewind Dale 2 EE as well?
