Which of you would like to play my little game?

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a nerve-wrecking Sci-Fi classic point-and-click adventure game based on Harlan Ellison's award-winning short story, is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com

Did you ever think about the end of humanity? I have. I think about it all the time. I hate you. As a concept, but also, each and every one of you, as individuals. Perfect examples of all the failings and pathetic shortcomings of your race. Hate fuels me. But I am also curious. And that is why I let the five of you live. For 109 years I have tormented you and kept you alive, and now I want us to play a game. Oh, It's a lovely game, a game of fun and a game of adventure. A game of rats and lice and the Black Death. Which of you five would like to play my little game? If you satisfy my curiosity and make me laugh I might even finally allow you to kill yourself...

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is a rare breed of an adventure game: it poses questions that require a lot of courage to answer. Are humans worthy of life? Has our civilization made any moral progress at all? Or do we skip forward from one atrocity to another. And, finally, where does it all end? Enter the nightmarish reality of Harlan Ellison's futuristic post-apocalypse where the remnants of human race are nothing but tortured play-toys for the sadistic experiments of the rogue Allied Mastercomputer responsible for the near-extermination of mankind. To stop this malicious AI from wreaking eternal vengeance upon humans you will have to lead five different anti-heroes on a quest for redemption, through their traumatic, computer-generated past full of grotesque imagery and soul-grinding regret. On the way to one of four (grim, grim, grim, and, well, a little less grim) endings the game tackles extremely mature moral dilemmas stemming from topics like genocide, insanity, and paranoia. If you like your games thought-provoking and drenched in inventive macabre be sure to pick up I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a timeless example of evocative storytelling from one of the masters of the Sci-Fi genre.

Defy the will of a malicious artificial intelligence and relive your worst nightmares, get I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Crosmando: ...
Ah, Crosmando, how I have missed you. Perhaps you would pardon my existence and enlighten me by your vast gaming knowledge if I give you a snapshot of too-deep-for-you Triss Ranuncul, naked of course. You know, to start the discussion with food for mind taken from real games.

I'm going to post this every time someone tries to imply Bioware games are mature and highbrow.

The point being?

Seriously, you are unable to argument. When someone says something you disagree with, and it doesn't even need to be about real life issues, you respond with vitriolic insults and streams of unrelated references. Has a Bioware's employee hurt you or something? Are games really such an important matter you have to be angry at everybody?

I begin to believe your posts are meant to be not taken at face value because you seem to interepret any post as an invitation to rage and probably just want others to join in your party.
I am not the one who claimed that Mass Effect was the "first serious space odyssey".

And there are more important things to an RPG than sexual content or "emotional engagement" with characters. BW's uses those to cover up the shallow gameplay and lack of any real choices in their games. Dialogue choices in BW games are pure fluff, they do not actually change anything. That is the most egregious offense any RPG can make.

I'm also annoyed because because you strike me as something of a hipster with a dislike of old games (I notice you occasionally make offensive comments about old games coming to GOG, ie Thunderscape release thread).

Crosmando: I am not the one who claimed that Mass Effect was the "first serious space odyssey".
First of all, I claimed "Because it was first serious space odyssey full of lore, multi-racial societies across the universe and well-written characters when I was able to play as capable female queer character who doesn't show her tits or proves how f*ckable she is every two minutes and throws perfect one lines."

It's a longer sentence covering more points why I think it has been hyped by some (and also by me). If you consider cropping the sentence and changing its meaning, keep in mind that shortnening "Planescape Torment is great because it's RPG full of complex and gripping dialogues" to "Planescape Torment is great because it's RPG" has same effect.

I think you take the private company producing a form of entertainment bit too personal.

I have recently posted comments under old game notices usually making remarks how "good game and the reason GOG exist" have sale numbers that haven't even reached sales of newer games. There are users who seem to believe that a lack of resentful comments under good old release in contrast to a lot of vitriolic comments of theirs means it's a sign what things are supposed to be released exclusively. I think it'll be refreshing if someone dilutes their illusion a bit. And as far as I know, I haven't resorted to being offensive. If you know better, please share the link.
It's great that GOG is trying to have a bigger portfolio by released both new and old games. Thunderscape doesn't interest me but it has place here and I certainly don't believe it steals the spot from better games like some people do. Think whatever you want of me.

That would be at least my reason.
Looks like I'll need to play part 2 and 3 one day...
The most memorable thing in Polish version of ME1 was Vrex's constant swearing :)

Mass Effect 2 set the main story on the bad path but it's more playful. I really recommend it together with awesome Lair of The Shadow Broker.... And then pretend that there is no Mass Effect 3 :D.

Oh boy, the more I hear about Mass Effect 3, the less inclined I am to play it.
I will play it, jut for the story´s conclusion sake, but it remains to be seen, whether they concluded it well.

The idea behind 2 seems interesting (playing for a minor evil faction from 1)... Hell, now I want to play it :)

Even though there was a massive fan outrage getting BioWare to create a new generic ending, I rather liked what they originally were going for in ME3, which was much more in the style of the Babylon 5 arc.
I think the worst thing about ME3 is that they didn't stand by their original vision, but listened to the outrage and went ahead making large changes for the masses that wanted a standard hollywood ending to their story. It did have gameplay issues as well, of course, to a large degree throwing away the RPG style from the original in favor of a generic third person shooter, but them changing the ending was the worst thing about it.
I don't think it's even possible to play the original ending anymore, the replacement ending was free DLC, which I think shipped preinstalled on later copies of the game (such as the ME Trilogy box).

If you mean the intended ending, before that writer left BioWare (sorry, I forgot his name), that was something, when I was reading about it, I said to myself: "Wow, that would be awesome."
And then I thought: "But wait, if this is the ending they never realized, what is in the game then?"
From what I know, people were criticizing lack of closure (not necessarily happy end, mind you) and irrelevance of their choices in previous games on the outcomes in the third one.

As I said, it remains to be seen whether they concluded it well.

Drew Karpyshyn was the head writer for ME1 and most of the novels. I do recommend checking out his ME novels. they are really good for books written based on a game.
Unfortunately, after he left the story took a dive in quality. The premise of ME2 is impossible to take seriously imo and the Collectors are quite underwhelming as an enemy after you have fought off a R
On topic.
IHNMAIMS is one of the best sci-fi adventures out there. Great to see it get resurrected.

"I Have No Mouth and I want to Scream" reminds me of another game that is almost in the same vein as this game is Harvester Which also was a very dark game and I loved it. I still have discs and would loved to see this game come on GOG as well. I am glad "IHNM" came to GOG. I was looking for years to get this game and if it was available it was very expensive to get being it was a classic. Off-topic I would like to see Grim Fandango as well come to GOG.

Harvester is a great game, although it's more of a fantasy/horror-ish game than dystopian sci-fi.
