Release of the Beast.

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition (also known as: Kult: Heretic Kingdoms), a sleek isometric fantasy action RPG with many interesting gameplay ideas, set in a vast gritty world deprived of hope, but filled with monsters and dangers, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

At the first glance, the sword seemed like nothing special. Yes, the craftsmanship was excellent, and you could see that its creator went to great lengths to make the weapon look as ominous as a piece of steel can get, but there were many similar blades across the land. If anything, this one looked a little bit rusty and battered up. It was only as she reached for the hilt, when a slight vibration could be noticed. Like an electric charge hitting her hand. For a moment, the blade seemed to be gleaming--barely noticeable inner shine. What she thought to be flakes of rust shined in crimson red, like fresh blood embedded into the metal itself. But then, nothing special happened. She just stood there, holding the sword, looking at it in silence. Nobody else would even notice, but she knew. In her hand, rested the blade that tasted the blood of god. The Godslayer.

Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition is a classic action-rpg that has the ambition of delivering some original ideas an making your experience unique. It makes sure that upon completion, you won't just feel like you've completed another generic hack-and-slash. It succeeds by the means of excellent storytelling, dynamic gameplay, and some original RPG mechanics. If you are a fan of the genre, but somehow you managed to overlook this title in the past, you're up for one satisfying experience! The GOG.com edition of the game comes with a full MP3 soundtrack.

Adventure awaits, so go on--discover the land that needs hope and decide if it deserves it in Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

You never heard of it? YOU HERETIC. Kidding :p
Heretic Kingdoms...got this one on cd. it's quite a cheap game. avarage but mostly flawed gameplay. nevertheless it has 2 nice innovations - beeing able to enter the 'dreamworld', and the expansion of skills by equipping items( the diversity is not worth mentioning) - and some very pretty graphics... anyway, I couldn't stand the annoying fights, the rather cheap appearing parts of the game and the world you just can't immerse in. it's comparable to the 'quality' of the game 'Dawn of Magic'. put them both aside soon.

Loving the game but (and this could be viewed as good or bad) characters look like they clinching a giant turd in when they run. Anyone who was on the track team in high school can relate to this. :D

AND does anyone know what 'low particles' means in the settings menu?

Schnuff: RPGs, or like this one action RPGs are welcome.
If they are any good!
Sadly this one is another falling in the line of you better never play this.
The plot sounds great only that they never used it. You want to save people or do like to slaughter them...
its up to you. Either way nothing changes.
And the action part, well i've played better Diablo clones.
Oh, so the plot isn't really there? That's a shame, 6 different endings sounded pretty good....

And thanks IAmSinistar, tfishell and of course GOG for this game! Wishlisted :D

Fesin: Thanks to IAmSinistar and tfishell. I hope you at least get the game for free for your work. ;)

Looks very interesting, I will check it out in the future.
^ This! Looks like a nice addition to the GOG catalogue

As I recall (though not for this game), certain visuals rely on a number of particles to produce a proper effect (think rain with raindrops). Low particles mean that the number of particles used for the visual, thus producing a lower quality visual but at a better performance.
Your computer shouldn't have any trouble with low or high particles.
Does this mean that Kult: Heretic Kingdom is the 666th game? Not a bad choice...

Thanks. I wasn't worried about performance but some of the models looked kind of funky and I was wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Nice work IAmSinistar, tfishell, and GOG team! :)
Never heard of that before...but it looks like something, that I could have fun with, so...bought!
I got a copy of this back in the day and could never get the thing to run. Nice that it's finally made it's way here.

The people on the Search thread are wizards for sure.
Oh, wow, you got this to work on Win8? In that case it's a must-buy for me; it was kind of complicated to run it even on Vista. Much thanks to IAmSinistar and tfishell, you guys rule! :)

Johnmourby: Who else saw the word Heretic and thought "GOG's got Ravensoft games!"?
How I would love to see those games here. It totally baffles me how no one is making any new RPGs with Ravenloft as a setting. It's my favorite D&D world and I'm kinda sick of Forgotten Realms. Imagine PS:T like game set in Ravenloft? Until the day comes when someone kickstarts such a game, GOG, please bring Ravenloft into your game library.
