Bad influence. Just like the Roadrunner cartoons.

, the infamous adventure game exploring the darkest corners of human psyche and boasting graphic violence in the best tradition of b-movies, is available in its uncensored version on GOG.com, for only $5.99. Our exclusive interview with Lee Jacobson, the game's producer, can be found in the [url=http://gogcom.tumblr.com/post/78954868646/harvester-interview]GOG.com Official Blog.

Remember, this is all just a game. You'll play as the amnesiac Steve (who is such a kidder!) as you try to figure out why you should join the Order of the Harvest Moon and discover the horror that lurks just beneath Harvest's small-town veneer. Meet some of the strangest characters to ever grace the computer screen--such as Mr. Pottsdam who really, really loves red meat or Colonel Monroe who guards the nuclear missile base and holds The Button. Harvest is a lovely town and the locals aim to keep it that way, no matter the cost...

Harvester is believed by some to be the inspiration for establishing the Entertainment Software Rating Board, as the game's first public showing at 1994 CES caused enough controversy to take the debate over violence in games to a whole new level. This title takes every possible opportunity to throw gore and graphic violence at the player. It wasn't, however, designed only to shock the audience. It's trippy story taking off in small-town America and touching down in mass-murderville can easily be attributed with a deeper meaning. How dark is the darkness at the bottom of the human soul? In its own campy, over-the-top way, this unique title looks for the answer to that question. With traditional puzzle-oriented point-and-click gameplay, live-action sequences, and characters portrayed by real-life actors, this nearly 20 year old game is still more than enjoyable. That is, if you can stomach the gore.

If you want to see a game that would never have a chance to be made in modern times, you really need a copy of Harvester, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

PS. The GOG.com team would like to heartlily thank our long-time user and supporter, tfishell, whose help in securing the release rights for this title was invaluable!

As tburger hinted at, I am going to take advantage of my momentary fame to again push for the Humongous Entertainment games to appear here.

...
Voting done (for support and because my kids love Humongous games.

JOHN RHYS-DAVIES :O

And here I thought he just did the voice over for one of Quest for Glory 4!

*still watching video*

SO many notable actors! And the acting isn't half bad! :O

I'd buy Ripper!
Really nice release: many extras, multi-languages, correct price and, it seems, a "cult" game. I'm not interested in gore games but this sure is a good release.
Oh my!

Yikes. I remember this being ... somewhat eccentric. Not a game I'm going to buy any time soon, but it's cool to see it here.

He was in Wing Commander 3 and 4 as well, and a number of other games that escape me at this time.

I'd welcome Ripper on GOG. And while we're talking FMV games, I'd like Black Dahlia to show up as well.
AWESOME!!!

Instabuy.Been hoping for but didn't really expect this game to make it to GOG.Thx a lot, classic release of a genuine good old game!

Novotnus: You like Sanitarium, right? :)
If you like it for fucked-up-ness, buy it now and thank me later :)
Is it that good ? The graphics kinda put me off, it looks FMV :/

zeffyr: I remember quite well a review of it, back in 1996 or 1997 in Secret Service magazine - older Polish users will know what I mean :>

Nearly 20 years have passed since reading it and I still have the image in my head of Harvester screens, which were included in that review.

Just imagine what they have done to a boy with 10 years of age. You can not erease it... :>
I believe I read the same review and the screenshot with cop and cherry pie (apparently) really got stuck in my mind.

Hm, I believe not? SS was old Polish computer games magazine. The review was probably in this issue:

They don't do magazines like that anymore :(
YES YES YES!

Thank you GOG. Every time it seem you're not getting enough old games you pull out something wonderful. I'll buy this today if I can.

the cover looks familiar. I did read SS as well as Gambler and SGK. but SGK did not have text under screenshots so hence why I think it was SS.
shall go to chomikuj to check it out.

It's the most fucked up game ever made (or at least - the most fucked up game I've ever seen). And the FMV adds to its B-movie feel. And by B-movie I mean ones like Brain Dead, Bad Taste or Attack of the Killer Condoms :)

It was Secret Service for sure. Still have a big box full of those somewhere :)
