Hack and slash like there's no tomorrow!

Hammerwatch, a fast-paced fantasy hack-and-slash with exciting multi-player modes and lots of pixelated nostalgia, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.99 for the first week!

Hacking is fun, slashing is too! In a fantasy world what else should you do? Go, grab a hammer, a mace, or a sword, and strike against all evil, corruption, and woe. There's bound to be some riches to find on your way, so remember: loot bodies of all that you slay. Take some friends on adventure, strength in number lies, just don't linger too long when a companion dies. Whatever freaks cross our path with their devious tricks, we'll dismantle their pixels with stabs, jabs, slashes, and kicks. Dungeons, oh sweet dungeons, let us answer your call--experience points and glory, that's the true hero's goal.

Hammerwatch is a modern indie game with the heart of a classic. The main idea--conquering dungeons and other formidable locations--is almost as old as computer gaming itself. The execution, however, makes it a perfect pick for contemporary gamers as well. With fast-paced, dynamic gameplay full of nice ideas, optional local and online multi-player, and even a scenario editor that allows for creation of your very own adventures from scratch (including new graphics!), this little pixelated gem can bring you hours, and hours of nostalgic hack-and-slash fun!

Unleash the pixelated fantasy mayhem with all the right RPG flavors with Hammerwatch, for only $7.99 on GOG.com. The 20% discount offer lasts until Thursday, August 29, at 9:59AM GMT.
Glad to hear it plays fine single-player, that clinched it for me. Bought, with a second copy going into giveaway.
hmmm... looks interesting definitely something I can play with the girlfriend when shes over.. but what im wondering is, is this the FULL game yet, because I read the devlog and it seems to have more features that are to come i guess o.o

cyboff: hmmm.... great game, nice pixelart, addictive gameplay...

But hey, GOG, please do me a favor and announce such games, that they are coming to GOG too, when they are released on Steam just a few days before you.
I bought it week ago on hammerwatch.com (=humble store), just because there was no sign it will be available here on GOG too :(
For what you have that New & Coming tab on the homepage?
Can this point just be highlighted in big neon signs?

(for then to be ignored by gog...)
game is great. coop is lots of fun, but the game can be boring after you beat the campaign. hopefully the community releases some maps soon.

BlueKronos: Does it have controller support, and can you have more than one controller or if you want local co-op do you have to divide the keyboard like some of the older games with local play?
yes, you can have up to four, but you need that many input devices [controllers/keyboard]. i have played with three on two controllers and one keyboard.

BlueKronos: And with online play can you also have coop local players as in 2 players local and 2 more online at the same time?
no. this does not work

the dev has plans to add and update things. i've been following this game for a while and from everything i've read it sounds like the game will have updates once in a while.

nijuu: That argument is tiring. Doing it all the time would devalue the products and means less sales for GOG overall. And if they did it for many games, well i think most of us prefer GOG to be around right?.
What's tiring? You basically repeated what I just said.

Shame. It'd be intersresting if it had much replayability, randomly generated stuff. How long to finish the official campaign ?

Waitlist and see, I suppose.

misfire200: When was hammerwatch on groupees?
It wasn't? That was in response to the "a GOG 4 pack? ^_^"

Ha, makes sense now...i think=) I was digging through my groupees purchases to make sure I did not already own this game. I like the look of the game, but I have bought enough crap lately.
This looks awesome.
Watched the trailer. It appeals to my tastes, yet I don't know if I want it.
Very nice, sadly, wishlisted for now.

Thanks for sharing your experiences sporb! +1
Downloaded the beta to see if I would like this game at all. (From the video it looks like rather than your character being an "adventurer" or anything sane, they are a suicidal maniac.) Found out the beta requires .NET Framework (got an error message when I tried to run it), and on x64 (at least according to Microsoft) that's a 2GB install. I can't really spare the hard-drive space just to try this game right now (I'm already below 10% free space -- will be getting a new rig soon hopefully).

Does the full game also require .NET Framework? If so, the "Minimum system requirements" on the gamecard are a bit misleading as it says "Hard Drive: 300 MB available space", which (it would seem) will be completely inadequate if you need to install .NET Framework on your x64 box to play the game.
