A dreamy platformer with a world-shifting, identity-changing twist.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, a beautiful platformer that delivers a blast from the past while remaining modern, juicy, and delightfully fresh, is now available on GOG.com for only $13.49! That's 10% off the regular price until Tuesday, October 30.

They say that there's only one way to understand a teenage girl: you have to be one. In case of Giana this can prove to be even more difficult, as there's much more to her than meets the eye. But the same thing can be said about almost every single thing or being inhabiting the dream realm in which the girl is trapped. Have you ever been trapped inside a dream, wanting to wake up? A dream in which every time you thought you broke free you just fell deeper into the recurring delusion? That's what happened to our heroine. But luckily, her predicament allowed her to unleash an alternate, feisty persona and harness the ability to flip from nightmare to a dream and back, just like flipping a coin. That's more than a fair fighting chance against the twisted odds.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams takes all you love about classic platformers: jumping platforms, stomping on enemies' heads, solving simple puzzles, collecting shiny tokens, and searching for secrets--and puts it in a unique double-vision environment. While the blonde "cute" Giana travels through the dark land of nightmares, her redhead "punky" alter-ego blasts through a much lighter and cheerful dream realm. The player is given the ability to dynamically switch between the two worlds and characters at will, using both personas' unique skills and taking advantage of each world's slightly different layout. It's like playing two games at once (which in most cases doesn't make much sense apart from being a nice party trick; but here, it makes for a challenging and original gameplay).

Make yourself a nice pot of strong coffee, cause you're not getting any sleep tonight, while you run and jump through the fantastic realms of a teenage girl's fancy in Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, for only $13.49.

gameon: That looks so much like mario from the gameplay.
Which is why the game was pulled from the shelves originally. It was basically a 1:1 clone of Mario Bros, up to and including a lot of the graphics. Many people (like me) preferred Giana over Mario, not because of any differences in gameplay (there weren't any), but because of the difference in style.

I never heard of it until today. You mean the graphical style differences?

Also, does it have anything to do with the new Giana sisters?

SCPM: Good! :D We don't move our clocks back till next Sunday, so I'm off by an hour.
It is the same for you in Croatia, me in Czech Republic and GOG in Poland, so don't worry :D
Cool. Has anyone tried the Keyboard + Mouse controls? On the Kickstarterpage stood a gamepad recommendation.

I play with KB. No problem at all. May be easier with a gamepad, but I'm lazy to try it out, now that I've gotten used to the controls.

Ok, thanks! :)

Yes, those, and especially the music.

Well, it's the same IP, so yes, it does. Also, the new game uses updated versions of the original music.
Out of curiosity, how do you pronounce "Giana" in English? I always pronounced it like "giant", until I heard TET pronounce the G like in "guy" in the weekly update video. So which is it (and - if you're super sophisticated - why)?

Well, I say "Guy-ana". I don't know about everybody else.
For me, this is the first Kickstarter-game I've backed that's actually been released. It will be fun to see if it was worth it.
I pronounced it as gee-anna lol

me too
Yeah, but the question is does everyone just pronounce it like they think it sounds right or is there evidence of a 'correct' pronounciation? And how did the developers pronounce it etc.? :)

A third possibility could also be something similar to "John", based on the italian pronunciation of Gianna (as in Gianna Nannini), seeing that the Giana sisters like the Mario Brothers might be of Italian origin? ;)

Wishbone: I think you are mistaken. It says "Giana" everywhere in the game except in the main menu. Thus, the main menu (which does indeed spell it "Gianna") has to be where the mistake is.
As I said, it's based on Hülsbeck's statement, I have it on tape somwhere (actually on my HDD but "on tape" sounds cooler). It's possible that after the error on the box cover they tried to adjust the name everywhere and forgot about the intro screen. Will have to listen to that recording again.

It was not a 1:1 clone. Multiple mechanics and enemies work in a different manner, the levels are different etc.. I'm really shocked that even people who actually liked Giana Sisters fail to notice that.

I heard two of the original devs pronounce it like "giant" so I'm sticking to that one.
