One of these days we're gonna get organizized.

Gangsters: Organized Crime, a multi-layered strategy game that puts you in charge of a small family business (a.k.a. crime syndicate) in a prohibition-era Chicago-like city, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Dear judge Michaels! I'm writing to you in hope to clear some common misconceptions about myself, my family, and the business we run. We take pride in our little Pizzeria and we won't have anyone badmouthing us. There's simply no reason anyone should believe that we sell liquor. My grandma is a god-fearing woman, see? She wouldn't have that. Someone must have mislead our dear law enforcement. Must have been the Firnellis. It's just like them to try and frame honest folk for their own shenanigans. And while I'm on the topic of Firnellis, I was devastated just as everyone else when the young Antonio Firnelli was found in that alley. Why would anyone suggest that it was one of my boys that stabbed the poor fella? I knew him since he was a bambino! He was like family. And speaking of family: your grandson is having such a great time in our lakeside cabin, that I thought we should let him be our guest for a little while longer. I know you'll be passing a ruling in the case of my nephew Roberto (who was visiting his aunt at the time of that terrible shooting, by the way) on Friday. So let's say we keep your kid entertained till Saturday. Fresh air is good for kids. We can even take him fishing. Or not. It's entirely up to you.
Sincerely,
Donatello "Don" Casandrino

Gangsters: Organized Crime lets you manage all aspects of a mob "family business". Set in a vast city presented in detailed isometric view and populated with over 5,000 individual characters, it features real-time action mixed with careful planning. Did you think that being a Don is easy? Now you can see first-hand how complicated a life of crime might get!

Become an "honest businessman" and put the concrete shoes on your competitors' feet in Gangsters: Organized Crime, for only $5.99!

I remember playing this a lot. I wasn't very good at it, so I just threw explosives into random buildings, or if some building had a lot of cars parked in front of it, it was my primary bombing target.

grviper: gog, was it really necessary to rename the default gang leader to Good "Old" Games? I appreciate the CD music running off HDD (even though the ambient noise fits the game better, than the OST), but what the hell? Gogless One in Planescape next?
Rest assured that the little pesky gremlin responsible is going to sleep with the fishes.

He has a fishbowl next to his bed? Lucky him, always a snack nearby :)
Not familiar with the Gangsters series (1 nor 2), albeit I'm sure I've seen the Gangsters 2 gamebox with the Capone face somewhere. I have Mob Rule from GOG already and even played it a bit, are the Gangstesr games similar?

MobyGames user reviews were funny to read: Gangsters 1 was panned for being overly complicated and hard to play, while the sequel was panned for being dumbed down. :D Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

timppu: *snip*
I didn't understand what I was doing back when I played 1, but Gangsters 2 is a violent clown car simulator. It got that special sequel dumbing down treatment.
It's not that hard to get into: It's only a slide show overview, 4 tutorials and a 104-page manual.
Oh awesome, I wasn't expecting to ever see this one again.

Uh, not that I'm too excited about Gangsters as such, but I'm guessing this means that we'll be seeing Cutthroats very soon?
One of the best gangster sim ever made.
Instabuy.
wow, this reminds me of a very old game I once knew... does anybody remember?

you had a map of a city, you could play it in two people and you took turns - when one had his turn, he could move certain distance, hire thugs to his gang, fight the other player or NPC enemies or play special "sokoban-like" puzzle minigames to earn money to buy weapons.

anyone? :o)

Daaang. I remember the name, I remember the logo and after checking the screenshots on Mobygames I even remember that I played it. But my memories are SO vague... I don't even remember where I got it from.

Also:
Gangsters is pretty neat. Quite a sophisticated game that also manages to deliver exciting moments. In my memory it was overly complicated though (which is confirmed by the user reviews).

YES! This is the one game which I was waiting for from the Square Enix catalog. And now I can finally get it! :-)
