Super Sonic Speedsters!

Freedom Planet, a very loopy and twisty arcade platformer where speed is king, just like the good old 16-bit times, is available 50% off for a week, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Freedom Planet is a combat-based platform adventure that pits a spunky dragon girl and her friends against an alien attack force. It’s fast and frantic – you’ll fly through the air at high speed like a comet, bust through foes with a flurry of punches or summon motorcycles that let you ride up walls and ceilings. With colorful retro artwork, an adorable cast, and tight but varied gameplay, it’s no wonder Freedom Planet is critically acclaimed as the Sonic successor we’ve all been waiting for.

Save the world like you usually do, but this time be real quick and fancy about it, in Freedom Planet, on GOG.com. The -50% special release discount will last until Tuesday, December 9, at 10:59AM GMT.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Want to see Jesse Cox taking on the many super-sonic challenges of Freedom Planet, over at ? We've recorded the whole thing for you on our vintage VCR! Here's [url=http://www.twitch.tv/gogcom/b/596407763]part one, and here's part two of the stream archive!

RadonGOG: I liked ShovelKnight a lot and I think I´ll like this one too...
avatar
IronArcturus: I wonder if Shovel Knight will be on sale for a GOG Winter Sale...
...and I wonder if GOG will release some the missing LucasArtsGames as our Christmas Present! :D

Well, I´d love it even more if they could be released earlier---planned to buy some gift copies of my fav. LucasArtsTitles... :(

It's been well over a month since they released the first LucasArts games. I still have no idea why they're waiting so long.
Wishlisted!
As a satisfied kickstarter-backer I don't feel the need to buy it right away, even at this discount... But in due time, in case of a major sale in the future, I wouldn't mind getting a GOG copy aswell.
Just a bit of a heads up. The devs are know to pull shady business with the user reviews for this game. I wouldn't trust any 5 star user review if I were you.
The game itself looks decent, but because of the suspicious copy & paste reviews from suspicious users on both GOG and Steam, I would buy this only when it's highly discounted. 75% or more.
I must agree with the above Hijack's comment after compairing Steam and gog reviews its obvious that some of them were copy pasted from Steam to here and as such can't be relied upon. Its obvious from the wording that they were made by professional writers and this points probably to the developers themselves posting them.

I call this bull***t.

Most probably thing happened that some people who have this game on steam purchased the game second copy and posted the same review. Most offensive thing they did was that they were lazy.

Tell me, what is the sense in faking reviews, when on other service you already got over 500 satisfied players that gave FP a positive vote? All of those 500 reviews are dishonest? Why devs would like to mess with GOG.com reviews when he was successful elsewhere?

Also, if someone can write a proper written review, that means that they are clearly devs? How logic works in this?

The reality is that no dev that have proper mind would mess with reviews, risking summoning Jim Sterling to burn their carriers. Take off your tinfoil hat.

BUT: True reviewers do the same, they repost reviews they originally made for other sites!
And look at the "non-positive" reviews on steam. They all seem to be written VERY bad, whilst the positive ones are written with skill!
Even if they are faked nobody was able to tell why the game wouldn´t deserve that praise jet! And look at the negative ones on the gamecard page: They couldn´t do either!
Yeah, what's so bad about copying the game review I already wrote somewhere else to GoG?

Smannesman: Oh right the Sonic-y thing, it looks great.
I never really liked Sonic all that much though (back when he was still mostly associated with good games), I wonder how much the gameplay is like the early Sonic games.
" I never really liked Sonic all that much though"

"I never really liked Sonic all that much"

"I never really liked Sonic"

Oh, ok...that's fine... It's not like you have to like it...*Lights torch and grabs a pitchfork*...i mean everyone has the right to have his/her own opinion, right?...

...you have 10 seconds...i would run if i were you...
Wonderful release! Just bought the game and could not stop playing it for 2 hours... Please, more 2D Jump 'n Run on GOG!!!

:-D Awesome list! Would buy EVERY game on GOG! But I know, it's hard no offer non-DRM gaming those days with publishers that scream if there is no "protection" on their games...

Soccorro: Das handy <snip>
I tried the demo, but all that had was time attacks so I can't really say if I like it or not.
But the graphics were nice and the music fun so I might still get it if it gets over 50% off and/or gets a Linux version.
Sadly, there will be no Linux version of the game... :-(

It's actually cheaper on GOG than on Steam. :-)

I'm pretty sure that's not what's happening. 500 reviews would be mighty impressive a sockpuppet campaign.

No, what I anticipate is that the game has a rather niche audience that's super into it. As such, there's not a large volume of reviews (since, y'know, niche), but what reviews are there are highly positive, barring a few more-critical ones.

(Also not sure what you mean by "the devs are known to pull shady business with the user reviews". I assume you have evidence of this claim beyond "some really excited/lazy people copy-pasted reviews from Steam to GOG"?)

I actually almost wish Jim Sterling would give it a look, for better or worse; the game didn't get much in the way of publicity at all (this being the developer's first game, they didn't realize you have to start advertising the game a few months in advance, so most places just kinda passed on it).
