Synthesized heartbeat.

FRACT OSC, an abstract sound-driven exploration-focused puzzle game that is also a first-person perspective interactive music synthesizer largely inspired by the aesthetics of the TRON movies, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $13.49 for the first week.

FRACT OSC is a musical exploration game. You arrive in a forgotten place and explore the vast and unfamiliar landscape to discover the secrets of an abandoned world that was once built on sound. As you start to make sense of this strange new environment, you work to rebuild its machinery by solving puzzles and bring the world back to life by shaping sound and creating music within the game. FRACT features a beautiful open world to explore and decipher with music-based puzzles, stunning visuals, and an amazing score that evolves as you play. As you progress through the game, you unlock tools to make your own music in the FRACT studio, where you can also export and share your creations with others.

If you've always felt you could need a little bit more of music synthesizer in your puzzle/adventure games, or a nice bit of gaming in your music synthesizer FRACT OSC has you covered, for only $13.49 on GOG.com. The 10% special launch discount offer lasts until Tuesday, April 29, at 4:59PM GMT.
Awesome times, gotta burn through that backlog.
I've been waiting for this but I fear this is another one of those 2 to 3 hours of playtime kinda games, which very rarely feel worth the asked price...
This looks like a pretty cool game, though not exactly my type. However it exceeds both the technical specifications of my only 2 year old MacBook Pro and also my current budget for adventure-puzzle type games.

Nevertheless, I know the audience for this on gog will be pretty big and I hope it does well. Thanks for giving us such an eclectic catalog from which to choose and thanks for the new release!
Interesting one. I´m waiting for some GOG reviews about gameplay and time-lenght
This seems like a game where, to really appreciate it you should be high. Much like Beat Hazard playing with the nyan cat song.
I found the music in the trailer pretty unappealing, so how about I don't spend fifteen bucks on a game based entirely around the music.

Tron-like in style. There's something in it's simplicity, the soft colors, floating platforms that follow simple rules vs having to explain it with normal physics. It looks rather beautiful in it's own way. I'll definitely have to try this when it's on sale.
Just bought and played for a bit and there's a definite problem. I'm getting all kinds of weird side crackle sound effects, which I'm pretty sure is not supposed to be there. Basically the bigger a sound sequence and the closer I am to the source I get more crackling. Curiously the 'stabilize audio' option, which is very probably the wrong solution in any case, makes things even worse.

Dropped a question directed to the developer on the game's Steam forum since curiously we don't have a subforum for FRACT on GOG yet and their own website doesn't have one at all. At least they seem to be active on Steam.

The gameworld is indeed pretty and the initial puzzles I've played around with were nice enough, but if that audio issue can't be resolved then the whole game is ruined as it is pretty much the main point of the game.

Edit: Looks like I'm not the only one with that very same issue... =/

Is it only me or is there a glitch with pictures? - all of the pictures are the same.
Any chance that this will come with a soundtrack? I was waiting for it to appear on GoG and was a bit bummed the only extras are some wallpapers.
Giant Bomb has published a gameplay video of this, though they mostly seem to go through a relatively early section of the game, I think, but gives you a sense of how it plays and what the puzzle design is like: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-fract-osc/2300-8770/

Which probably means music isnt done inhouse (although i cant really tell)..OR they see everyone else selling the soundtrack so try to squeeze a few extra $$$ :/
I'll have to wishlist this one. The studio seems interesting and the puzzles seem alright. Not sold on the aesthetics of the game though.

Yeah, there seems to be a pattern developing with small developers and indie developers who sell music separately from the game. It seems to be a standard pattern at the moment. Same happened with the soundtrack for The Last Federation game.
