Burning Trees, Driving Cars, Exploring a Dense African Jungle, While Holding an RPG-7.

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition an open-world first-person shooter in a sprawling African landscape, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Far Cry 2 may seem like a regular FPS in an open world, very realistic and graphic, but it’s more than just a sequel to the original. Far Cry 2 takes game realism to another level: you’re always looking from first-person view, the HUD is almost non-present, the environment is fully destructible, you need to pick up an in-game object when you want to see a map or use a GPS system and take wind, rain, day and night (this affects enemy’s AI!) into consideration when planning your moves and attacks. The African setting of Far Cry 2 is rich and detailed. Each of the twenty square kilometers of beautiful wilderness--ranging from scorching deserts to thick jungles--hides weapons, objects, and missions. The level of freedom and immersion is unmatched, and the experience of constructing your own story while you take down the sadistic but intelligent arms-dealer known only as “The Jackal” is rewarding and spectacular.

Far Cry 2 isn’t a short game, either. It’s a long open-world extravaganze which takes from 40 to 70 hours to to beat. And after all this time, when you recover from malaria and bullet wounds, you can create new multiplayer worlds for up to 16 players, making full use of vehicles, weapons, and weather systems in four different game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond and Uprising. Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition contains the full Far Cry 2 game, including all previously released patches and the Far Cry 2 Fortunes DLC with additional content like new weapons and vehicles.

Get trapped in a fantastic story and brilliant setting for only $9.99, DRM-free and equipped with goodies, only on GOG.com.
On Steam this game comes with

3rd-party DRM: SecuROM™
5 machine activation limit
$10? Really? When they're selling Heroes V, which came out 3 years earlier, for $20? Ok. Regardless, I find Far Cry 2 something of an overambitious mess. The shooting is fine, as is the way you are allowed to approach any given scenario however you like, but the aimless open world and constant enemy ambushes really killed it for me. Still, a lot of people seem to like it. I'm not one of them.
Damn! I already bought it on St&#%...Not happy.

A great game with a well publicised flaw. A fatal flaw as far as most are concerned. But those who battle it out to the end are rewarded by what is probably one of the best endings of any FPS.

wolfsite: Weird how Steam always ends up doing a sale on something that GOG has a new release or special of.
More likely it's down to the publisher. Steam can do what it damn well pleases when it comes to sales. But that doesn't mean that every sale is at its instigation.
I loved Far Cry 2. I've played a lot of games, and finish few; Far Cry 2 was one I not only finished, but restarted and played again.

Of course, if you like run-and-gun type shooters that don't require much thinking, you may not like it as much as I. But to me, it gave a really good feeling of actually being there... having to plan your strategy and shots. I loved hiding in the grass, taking in the enemies and planning who to take out first. And then trying to find the best way to avoid the enemy when he found me. The immersion factor was fantastic.
Really not interested in that release but I must say that Ubisoft and GOG pulled a great relzase here : a game that might interest people with a fairly good amount of extras for a really decent price.

Good one, continue like this please !
Question: was this game a console port or it functions well for PC using Mouse and Keyboard?
Great Release at an awesome price! Too bad I'm broke... Wishlisted.

Driving is about as crap as any FPS's vehicles get.

Beyond that though, this felt like a PC game. The sights seem a bit off (I think this uses firecones, even in iron sights), but I never felt "this is a console game"

Ya it's just funny how it all works out.
Not a bad addition. Not terribly interested myself though. Here's to hoping that Ubisoft will eventually bring the first two Call of Juarez games to GOG. They can keep the sucky third one.
Great deal. Suprised it wasn't #19.99! Highly recommended. First official DRM free release for this one.

drewpants: if my humple PC will play this I may need to invest

tfishell: Love that spelling error. ;-)

And my brother loved the realism of the first Far Cry. We may both invest in this game ($5 each), because it won't run on my machine but he can be a bit of a cheapskate at times. (Good man, though)

Awww man, would you look at that. I've got to stop leaving comments when I'm at work and don't have time to check my spelling... :D
