Burning Trees, Driving Cars, Exploring a Dense African Jungle, While Holding an RPG-7.

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition an open-world first-person shooter in a sprawling African landscape, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Far Cry 2 may seem like a regular FPS in an open world, very realistic and graphic, but it’s more than just a sequel to the original. Far Cry 2 takes game realism to another level: you’re always looking from first-person view, the HUD is almost non-present, the environment is fully destructible, you need to pick up an in-game object when you want to see a map or use a GPS system and take wind, rain, day and night (this affects enemy’s AI!) into consideration when planning your moves and attacks. The African setting of Far Cry 2 is rich and detailed. Each of the twenty square kilometers of beautiful wilderness--ranging from scorching deserts to thick jungles--hides weapons, objects, and missions. The level of freedom and immersion is unmatched, and the experience of constructing your own story while you take down the sadistic but intelligent arms-dealer known only as “The Jackal” is rewarding and spectacular.

Far Cry 2 isn’t a short game, either. It’s a long open-world extravaganze which takes from 40 to 70 hours to to beat. And after all this time, when you recover from malaria and bullet wounds, you can create new multiplayer worlds for up to 16 players, making full use of vehicles, weapons, and weather systems in four different game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond and Uprising. Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition contains the full Far Cry 2 game, including all previously released patches and the Far Cry 2 Fortunes DLC with additional content like new weapons and vehicles.

Get trapped in a fantastic story and brilliant setting for only $9.99, DRM-free and equipped with goodies, only on GOG.com.
This game is great but it really made me feel sick... The character is way too inmoral.
Already have it elswhere , but would have been an instabuy otherwise ... though I still might get it here on gog too at some point. :)
FANTASTIC GAME!!!! Extremely immersive!
Wow, this is a great release, one of the best games of this generation in my opinion, mostly because it has zero handholding and a pretty mature theme. How many games allow you to play as an ex-Mossad mercenary promoting pointless wars in Africa? And the price is awesome (it was released after AssCreed, but is half the price, hmm!)

I see that Ubisoft is being very serious about gog, they are working hard on redeeming themselves after their stupid DRM madness. Can't wait to finally buy AssCreed 2.

P.S.: With so many releases lately I'm starting to miss some of them, o_O

One of the most flawed games I've played. Respawn is not a minor flaw: it's very, extremely annoying, as the enviroments cannot be enjoyed that much. This game really needed more thought on the design. Anyway: there's a great engine and wonderful first few hours here.
What initially held me back from buying this game was of course its DRM. Then a few months ago I found out there is a version free of DRM. It was released quite some time ago by ak tronic, a german based retail publisher for budget software. So I was close to getting this DRM-free version for 10€. But the I thought about the possibility of a GOG release and I decided to wait. And you know what they say: Good things come to those who wait. Thank you GOG!

Another great release. Thanks !
Fantastic release again. Thank you GOG. Now the next one is Crysis!
Very flawed game, but still well worth playing. I hated the mouse control in the PC version though.

Phaidox: Dear Ubisoft, please be so kind as to release Settlers 7 on GOG. This gem of a game does not deserve to be dragged down by the always-online requirement.
IIRC, they'd have to rewrite large chunks of the game to do that as online elements have been incorporated into many parts of the game.
One of my favourite FPS'es of the last few years. It has its flaws, but at its core it's like the action movie game of my dreams - except without a director telling you what to do.

I wish more sandbox FPS'es like this were made.

drewpants: if my humple PC will play this I may need to invest
Love that spelling error. ;-)

And my brother loved the realism of the first Far Cry. We may both invest in this game ($5 each), because it won't run on my machine but he can be a bit of a cheapskate at times. (Good man, though)

F1ach: I loved this game at release, I remember people bitching about the malaria pills and the respawning checkpoints, both insignificant in the ultimate scheme of things ...bitching about the respawning chekpoints is like complaining about extra shooting in a FPS, its just weird, The malaria pills....they are rewards for missions, it keeps you focused...but not too much, you can still dick around and explore.

If I was to complain about something, it would be the lack of wild life in the open plains... on saying that, I did accidently run into a zebra while driving across country.

A gret game.

Roman5: Yeah, those Malaria pills were very annoying when I played the game as well

From what I understand though, the PC version has a lot of mods and freedom to customize your game to play how you want, which is great

Console versions don't really have this, even if they did try the whole "make your map and play it" thing, which I have to admit was quite cool on a Closed platform
My mates and I have a discussion forum that covers FC2 (with maps etc) and other games, if you want to check it out I'll pm the details.

Pretty good. I will get it once I finish the first game, which is sitting in my GOG backlog for 1.5 years now.
This game sucks!
Sorry to all the fans out there, but that`s the way I feel about it.

-The enemies respawn immediately after you left a checkpoint "cleared".
-In towns there are "safe zones" and "enemy zones" (I don`t remember the ingame-term,...it`s a long time, since I "enjoyed" this), the first on one side of the road, the latter on the opposite site of the same road - when you step over the line - you are getting shot.
-Weapons jamming all the time...if this was happening in real wars in that way - there would be no wars - never again!
-Pills must be swallowed all the time... (man, how many bitter pills must be swallowed, if you want to play this game...literally)

So, if you want to see nice graphics - go and get it!
If you don`t mind the things I wrote above - go get it!

But if you`re no graphics whore and you do bother about unrealistic weapon failure, endless and immediately respawning enemies and a "free" world, where everyone is after you without a reason - well,...then you better think twice, before you get it.

PS: to be honest - I don`t know whether there are some mods, that get rid of all the annoyances, this game features - if so, post `em here, please - maybe I will give it a second chance.
