Point at the odd and click on the mad!

Edna & Harvey, a crazy cartoony point-and-click adventure spanning over two games: The Breakout and Harvey’s New Eyes, is now available on GOG.com for only $17.99--that's 10% off until Tuesday, October 23 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Hi. I said: "hi". Why are you looking around? I'm right here! Yes, the little blue stuffed bunny. You know--your best friend in the world? Well, actually: your only friend in the world. Still doesn't ring a bell, huh? They must've pumped you with all sorts of meds. Poor thing. Why would they lock you up like that? You don't do that to a helpless girl. Don't worry, love. We'll get you outta here in no time. Just trust me. What? You think I'm just a figment of your imagination? No problem, trust yourself, then--and let's get moving. Those padded walls give me the creeps. Why? It's because of what they have inside them. It's a stuffed animal thing, you wouldn't understand. So, can we go now? Your past awaits! Or is it the future? I always get these two confused.

From the creators of Deponia comes Edna & Harvey, a game--pardon me: two games--that earned the Daedalic Entertainemnt a place in point-and-click adventure hall of fame. Both Breakout and Harvey's New Eyes feature minimalistic, yet colorful cartoony graphics, insane storylines, thousands of lines of dialog, and immeasurable amounts of grotesque humor. Gameplay-wise, both games stick to the time-tested point-and-click mechanics with rudimentary commands that let you interact with items, people, and blue stuffed animals. But don't be fooled by their seeming simplicity--it will take you hours to get through each of them.

Dare to stare into the glare of blue bunny's crazy eyes and help two disturbed minds through a rough ride towards destiny in Edna & Harvey, for only $17.99!
I love how all the white knights are coming to the defence and completely ignoring any and all points I've raised. That's fine, though, there's no getting through to some people.

This isn't the first game, indie or otherwise, to have lots of recorded dialogue. It isn't the first adventure game of it's type, it isn't breaking new ground. I'm not saying it's not a good game, I'm saying this could have been priced differently in a way that would've made it easier for people to purchase it.

Please, stop trying to show "examples" of the amount of dialogue or responses. I've been playing games like these for over 15 years. You're not impressing me with your knowledge, just like I'm not getting you to see or even understand where I'm coming from or why my feelings are valid.

Really, "critical acclaim" and "awards" do not justify a price increase. That's the sort of stuff AAA games tout in order to get away with the prices they go for. You're really only succeeding in saying that because Daedalic is popular and make good games, they're allowed to charge high prices compared to other indies out there.

yeah yeah yeah. iv been playing adventures since the days of ega with text parsers. And im saying E&H has an extremely unusual amount of object interactivity. Of course you dont care about that because they didnt price it the way you think is fair compared to companies that are too small to make boxed releases.

HAHA, you're talk of text parsers is making me want to dig out my copies of the Hugo games, Space Quest 1, and Maniac Mansion 1. I, personally, love P&C adventure games, and this package looks well worth the money. I still hope for the release of the LA adventure games catalog, but I'm not holding my breath.

On a side note, I love Daedalic games, but I have yet to play these two. I am genuinely curious about what kind of humour is in the games (ex slapstick, dark humour, dry humour, etc...).

lol +1, lthe day gog adds game's like grim fandango will be a day of much adventure celebrating :D
but yeah im not holding my breath either...
Im not sure how i'd classify E&H's humor.. maybe quirky, off-beat, fourth-wall breaking stuff, and kind of zany all over the place. To be sure, if you hated the humor, that huge amount of responses would mean nothing. But i liked it a lot, and it kind of reminded me of jhonen vasquez's stuff. Also the story is pretty surprisingly dark. Its not a perfect game to be certain, but it is definitely special.

You and me both man. Yeah, I LOVE quirky humour, and I adore black comedy/dark comedy...it fits with my sadistic sense of humour >:) . AWESOME, I love Vasquez, I'm a HUGE fan of Nny, Zim, Wobblyhead Bob and I Feel Sick! That is a big plus for me if it's in the same grain as those. ^_^
I am happy with the release because the german localization is included. During next sale I will buy it although I already played it from a "borrowed" retail copy from a friend. But I will make up for it.

After seeing just a little bit from that video and having a good laugh I decided to put the game on my wishlist.
I'm 100% sure these games are tons of fun :)
Will buy definitely at a later date when i have some funds.
Thanks.

Mivas: ...Is it possible to play the game with German audio and English subtitles?
I'll reply to myself - No, it isn't. :)

Sadly, English voice-over suffers from same thing as general US non-native dubbing where a 30+ female dubber fakes a voice of 6 years old girl which almost always results in a squeal-fest :(. English VO is unbearable and I don't remember enough from German language classes to be able to play it purely in that language. It's a shame because German Edna sounds pretty good to me.

That's pretty much what I was expecting to have happen, Mivas, considering the way Whispering World sounded (and other such dubs).

Ah, I remember text games on the ol' Commodore 64. Anyways, as I said several times, if they had simply split this into two games, or offered it at a more reasonable price, I'd have probably been sold. I don't really know why I keep repeating myself, though. What's done is done, and I have options so it's not like I'll never play it.

EDIT: Well, I have some more criticisms that will, hopefully, appease those who don't like hearing "baseless" comments. I tried a demo of Harvey's New Eyes via Steam, since GOG doesn't have it. To be blunt, it runs horribly.

There is an incredible amount of lag on the cursor to the point where lining it up with what I'm after is damned near impossible. Unlike Telltale's Back to the Future, where I could reduce overall quality until it ran smoothly, there are no options to do this with HNE. The voice runs just fine, but the animation is jerky and usually missing frames, likely as a result of said lag. I can reduce the windowed resolution, but it does not change how intensive it is on the CPU and the graphics card - this seems a really stupid thing to do, including having the default resolution be something like 1900x1600 or whatever it was, took forever to find 800x600.. and that didn't even help.

So yeah. Now the possibility of my buying it is completely moot because I can't even run the fucking thing. Great handling of the optimization and related options, Daedalic. I'm not even sure it's displaying all of the video, either. There's times where I'll hear sound but see nothing besides a black screen.

The real ironic part is that I'd actually been trying to psyche myself up in an attempt to convince myself it's worth the money. With the way it handled on my computer, though, I basically just wasted the last hour or so of my time.

Hmm... it seems Steam only has Harvey's New Eyes. Well I guess I know where I'm getting this game then! No achievements sucks though... I know! I just like getting them and feeling completeness to a game!
i just completed harvey's new eyes and i liked it quite a bit. Its not an especially hard game, but i found the puzzle pacing particularly enjoyable. The english voice of the narrator was pretty much perfect. Sadly, the amazing object interactivity from "the breakout" does not appear in harvey's new eyes. The amount of responses is pretty standard in this game.. and also gone are the huge inventories, and ability to talk to everything. Nevertheless, the story really shines in this game, and it takes the dark twisted humor up a couple of notches... seriously its not a game for kids. One of the endings includes the line:
--****SPOILERS****--
"The morale of the story is you can do whatever you want! as long as you have free will. Even if it means stabbing an old man in a wheel chair to death. THE END"
