Grow stronger turn, by turn.

Eador: Genesis, an impressive turn-based strategy with RPG elements, that sends you on a quest to conquer a shattered realm, is now available on GOG.com, for only $4.79! That's 20% off, this week only!

The world is no longer whole. All that remains are the islands of existence drifting aimlessly through the endless ocean of emptiness and oblivion. This broken realm houses many aspiring despots, hell-bent on uniting the floating shards of land under their own rule. There was, however, no single monarch who could achieve that feat since the time of the cataclysm. That won't stop you from trying, of course. Is it because you're even more hungry for power and wealth then your opponents? Or maybe you see a higher purpose in domination over Eador? Maybe you believe, that the world united under the rule of one strong leader will finally begin to heal? As one of the Masters, you're free to exercise your will however you see fit. But know this: history will judge you.

Eador: Genesis delivers a turn-based strategy experience inspired by the classics of the genre. It's a multi-layered game, equally stressing the importance of your kingdom's development and management, and your tactical battlefield abilities. There's also a strongly accented RPG element, that goes so well with the imaginatively crafted fantasy setting of the game. With over 170 structures to build, 80 magic spells to master, and 70 kinds of units to lead into the battle, each with its own goals and defining characteristic--this title will keep you busy for many long evenings.

Looking for a well-polished turn-based strategy game that's immersive, enthralling, and deep? Get Eador: Genesis, for only $4.79! That's 20% off until the promo ends on Tuesday, December 11, at 10:59AM GMT.

Adrageron: If you find campaign too difficult even on beginner - try to play single huge map with 2 opponents-beginners (I advise to pick more then one opponent to allow diplomacy, in 1:1 duel there is a permanent war). In such a mode you will have much more time to expand, explore and learn the game.
thanks, I might, but I find these storyless games kind of boring, I always only play campaigns that have start, middle and end (and after that I stop playing :o)

sure, it will be needed for me to "learn" how to play, but man, if I need to learn to play the game outside the actual game (kind of) then I don't think I'll ever be able to finish :D

but I still think it's a wonderful game, I've already spent many, many hours in it (being massacred :)

towerbooks3192: I had to take a risk and use my mac bootcamp without anti virus and it works like a dream on my mac bootcamp compared to how it runs on my alienware.

HiPhish: You should try Wine instead, it runs Windows programs on OS X (and Linux) without needing Windows. I have a Wineskin wrapper for Eador over at The Porting Team, give it a try. Much better than having to reboot to Windows. i use Wineskin for almost all my Windows games.
Just to add to this, laggy mouse issues aside (which also seems to be a problem on Windows), the game runs just fine on my MacBook (10.6.8, GMA 950) with both Wineskin (using WINE 1.5.18) and the latest CrossOver 12 release candidate build.
I was so angry about having to redo the tutorial on my mac to the point that I used my main hero (Scout) to kill the guards and besiege the castle and now finally done with it. I have the laggy mouse and framerate issue on my alienware but I played with it just now. Its pretty hectic and to think its just a tiny shard.

Edit: Was going to share a screenshot but for some reason I can't attach it

You can skip the tutorial - when you're going through the intro just select the last line of text that the "wandering mage" gives you which references that you know who he really is. From there you can quickly choose to skip past the tutorial level.

Also I'm fast hating when the AI storms into your lands and not only gives you a major pain to kill, but also leaves behind a whole army in each province that is levels higher!

Kunovski: in that case I probably need about 5 more avatars to do the exploring for me :D my main avatar just runs from one corner of my kingdom to another trying to capture back lost hexes and fight off the ever present intruders (also getting back hexes that just went nuts and did an uprising :D
I had that problem, too. But it gets better as soon as you can have the "Tribes" defenders, which are barbarians on plains. They were capable of killing AI warriors so far, this is on the third difficulty.
Also you need to make strategic use of limited but strong contract defenders like adventurers. This way you can seal off parts of your domain. Building outposts works, too. Just put one unit in the garrison and the enemy hero is stuck there with the siege for many turns.

Also, always use turn back time when you lose a hero, it only lowers the score, so who cares. As new players we have no clue how strong encounters can be, so unnecessary death happens often.

Really? Will try this tomorrow, have to stop or else I will get fired from work. Eador is just so darn addictive. Currently playing tug-of-war with 2 enemies on 2 fronts with my uber mage and my hardy warrior. I don't know why some of my men have morale penalties when I don't have any units with opposite alignment on my team.

You know what I hate that the AI does? leaving a province with 9 thieves!! Its so aggravating having to kill all those 9 thieves which are immune to counter attacks. Will continue my tug-o-war with the AI on my alienware while starting a new campaign at the same time on my mac

Did you do anything evil, or use necromantic/chaos magic?

I had the same problem until i figured out that your actions give you an alignment as well - and if yours differs to much from the one of your troops they get morale penalties.
For example in one game i practiced a lot of necro and demon magic ... and let the thieves guild survive (after getting those yummy 200 gold for sparing them), sold the virgins and accepted bribes - well in the end my lawful troops had -3 base moral.
In another game i was nice and good and they got +1 bonus moral.

Oh and yeah awesome game can't stop playing it - thanks HiPhish for the wrapper - it works like a chram.
Am I missing something, or is there no way to demolish buildings in your stronghold? (as you can in your provinces)

After a few false-starts in single-player mode, I finally got some early traction by using the cheap, disposable brigands to expand my territory. I built the Brigand Lair on the assumption that I could tear it down (as the tutorial seemed to suggest) once I could afford the recruitment and upkeep on the "Lawful" units.
In the absence of any obvious interface to allow for stronghold demolition (the procedure for doing it in provinces is perfectly intuitive), I now seem to have locked myself into going down the "Evil/Unscrupulous" path, with all the income/looting/mood consequences that it brings.
Not a huge deal, I guess. But at this point, I've also built the the "Good" magic structure (heals, bless, etc.). I haven't projected down the build tree to know if that's going to be a conflict, or force me to omit another magic school I might need more.

This game definitely isn't big on "do-overs".
Is there a website or forum dedicated to discussing all things related to Eador: Genesis that is in English?

I notice the official SnowBird website has an english section in it's Eador forums, but it doesn't seem to be used at all. Not to mention, the whole site is in Russian - Google can't translate Russian buttons.

lowyhong: Did you do anything evil, or use necromantic/chaos magic?
I thought that it would only affect them if I have a unit with opposite alignment on my party? Well I kind of heavily relied on summoning Skeletons, Zombies and Imps but did no sacrificial ritual or anything.

Will I get a penalty if I only used Fear or Ammo burn but not summoning creatures?
I'm not sure, but I think you will. You should ask the experts on the Eador forums :)
Yes! Most of spells are evil! Not just summoning))) Most of de-buffs, direct damage spells and control spells degrade your alighment.

Sorry, but you went to the other site, maybe. On our forum, webmasters did the simple forum for English speakers and translated buttons as a "reply""post". So:
Here our forum: http://www.eador.com/B2/index.php?c=9
