Grow stronger turn, by turn.

Eador: Genesis, an impressive turn-based strategy with RPG elements, that sends you on a quest to conquer a shattered realm, is now available on GOG.com, for only $4.79! That's 20% off, this week only!

The world is no longer whole. All that remains are the islands of existence drifting aimlessly through the endless ocean of emptiness and oblivion. This broken realm houses many aspiring despots, hell-bent on uniting the floating shards of land under their own rule. There was, however, no single monarch who could achieve that feat since the time of the cataclysm. That won't stop you from trying, of course. Is it because you're even more hungry for power and wealth then your opponents? Or maybe you see a higher purpose in domination over Eador? Maybe you believe, that the world united under the rule of one strong leader will finally begin to heal? As one of the Masters, you're free to exercise your will however you see fit. But know this: history will judge you.

Eador: Genesis delivers a turn-based strategy experience inspired by the classics of the genre. It's a multi-layered game, equally stressing the importance of your kingdom's development and management, and your tactical battlefield abilities. There's also a strongly accented RPG element, that goes so well with the imaginatively crafted fantasy setting of the game. With over 170 structures to build, 80 magic spells to master, and 70 kinds of units to lead into the battle, each with its own goals and defining characteristic--this title will keep you busy for many long evenings.

Looking for a well-polished turn-based strategy game that's immersive, enthralling, and deep? Get Eador: Genesis, for only $4.79! That's 20% off until the promo ends on Tuesday, December 11, at 10:59AM GMT.

Kunovski: looks very... "indie" :D

but you can't ever have enough turn-based strategies, right?
Never!

Although I'm more partial to console style TRPGS than the HOMM style ones :)
They are making the sequel: Eador: Masters of the Broken World

G-Doc: That might have something to do with the fact that up to this day it was never released outside of Russia.
Figured as much when I've seen the russian - only official website. Which is kind of shame, because I'm not getting it if there isn't an easy way to get it working in wine (which I suppose there is, but... Eh, I'd rather ask devs.)

overread: Looks interesting. I've not heard of it before either, that said the gameplay looks like its inspired by the Heroes of might and magic series.
IMHO, it's better than HOMM (other than art), but your mileage may vary.
Developer: Alexey Bokulev

So...was this game made by one person or what?

So I suppose you've played it? Could you tell us more info that's not GOG marketing?
Wow, out of nowhere this appears, and it seems to all I ever wanted. Maybe I should learn russian, who knows what else I'm missing.

From what I can see it uses the same hex battle design, but instead of unit stacking (spam) focuses more on each unit being a mini-hero with stats and upgrades as well as being individual on the battlefield

was what I saw and there are some others on the youtube if you search for Eador.
Single release today or can we expect more?

Price is okay, and I adore this kind of games... was an instabuy for me :)

Funnily enough, I didn't see your reaction on Duke Nukem 3D clones when Shadow Warrior was released. Must have missed it.
Bought and downloading. Will post impressions in a few hours.
today is a "chill" day, let GOG just release one game and chill...

Played the Russian version.

It has a better meta-game than HOMM. Gameplay mostly consists of "reassembling" world shard by shard, each shard being "mission" in HOMM sense, where you have to defeat all other opponents.

You pick the shard you want to fight for, different shards providing different bonuses on winning. However, you only get one try per shard, if you fail at it, bonus is lost.

Unit and hero advancement is very sweet, they acquire levels with experience, which allow you to customize them by picking bonus perks on each level, which make units much more powerful.

There is "morality" system in game -> if you stick to evil units like orcs and use lots of necromancy, also pick "exploitation" choices in random events, you'll get less good events and moar disasters. Vice versa with being "good".

Events are nicely written (dunno about translation) and quite varied, offering both roleplaying options and meaningful choices (e. g. let witch live in your realm, producing crystals for you, but upsetting population).

There are three types of heroes: ranger (powerful shooter), mage (obviously, a strong caster), warrior (tons of health and nice damage). All of them are overpowered if used properly :D.

Any specific questions you might have?..
