Grow stronger turn, by turn.

Eador: Genesis, an impressive turn-based strategy with RPG elements, that sends you on a quest to conquer a shattered realm, is now available on GOG.com, for only $4.79! That's 20% off, this week only!

The world is no longer whole. All that remains are the islands of existence drifting aimlessly through the endless ocean of emptiness and oblivion. This broken realm houses many aspiring despots, hell-bent on uniting the floating shards of land under their own rule. There was, however, no single monarch who could achieve that feat since the time of the cataclysm. That won't stop you from trying, of course. Is it because you're even more hungry for power and wealth then your opponents? Or maybe you see a higher purpose in domination over Eador? Maybe you believe, that the world united under the rule of one strong leader will finally begin to heal? As one of the Masters, you're free to exercise your will however you see fit. But know this: history will judge you.

Eador: Genesis delivers a turn-based strategy experience inspired by the classics of the genre. It's a multi-layered game, equally stressing the importance of your kingdom's development and management, and your tactical battlefield abilities. There's also a strongly accented RPG element, that goes so well with the imaginatively crafted fantasy setting of the game. With over 170 structures to build, 80 magic spells to master, and 70 kinds of units to lead into the battle, each with its own goals and defining characteristic--this title will keep you busy for many long evenings.

Looking for a well-polished turn-based strategy game that's immersive, enthralling, and deep? Get Eador: Genesis, for only $4.79! That's 20% off until the promo ends on Tuesday, December 11, at 10:59AM GMT.
Thanks to Dischord in another thread I'm playing this now and am really enjoying it.

or use this way:

So far the most problems had to do with 64-bit versions of Windows 7. Here is a possible solution to problems occurring on that configuration (taken from Eador.com's forum):

1. Find (via Google) and install DXWnd (OG edition) tool
2. Extract and run it, go to Edit -> Add.
3. Press "..." button, find Eador.exe file
4. Check up "Hook DirectDraw" option
5. In Resolution tab choose your screen resolution (or set game default 1024x768).
6. Check up "Auto-Correct Mouse Position" and "Don't Hide Mouse Pointer"
7. Press ОК, go to Edit tab again and press Execute

If you're experiencing troubles due to the integrated Intel graphic card you may try this:

Manually delete old video drivers, download and install latest version for your graphic card.

Well I have to say that aside from the lack of eye candy, it is the type of game I love (I hate those new 3D and realistic graphics) and it is too good to be true. So far I haven't found anything that is a major annoyance or a turn off of the game. Just get the game and try it!!

Its the best thing the russians made since tetris and vodka. Its only $4.79 mate! I think that maybe once in your life you wasted more than that amount on something crappy. Please don't hesitate to get this game. Its just so darn good. Its so good to be true because so far its close to perfection

Well, it's very easy to lose... >_<
Oh, and there are no saves beyond "take a turn back", while the campaign stages are randomized, so it's got a bit of the roguelike/FTL "learn by dying" approach.

I'll second that this game is tricky! But its addictive and there is a sort of formula I suspect to working out its playstyle - its just a case of working it out.

Generally though always trust the battle estimations - if it says its too hard to fight chances are - its too hard to fight!

How could I find the battle estimation? I am having trouble picking my fights in this game

When you have a choice between attack and retreat, your hero pops up at the top of the window and comments on the difficulty of the battle.

My problem is balancing territorial expansion vs. territory exploration :(

Same here, though early on you really want to get as many territories as you can as they contribute income and give warning to the approaching enemy. I find that if you only focus on exploring early on you'll end up running out of gold if you want any troops.

few tips:
1) Right at the start you'll be exploring your core territory as you expand your base to be able to buy troops and spells. You'll want to avoid the fights, but keep exploring the whole time.

2) Don't get conned into hitting end turn too fast - make sure you've built at your main base and if not remember territories also have building upgrades to build.

2) After you've got a few troops and some gold go exploring - try to get as many territories as you can around your main home so that you can watch for the enemy approaching.

3) Always remember to check the heros equipment condition -last thing you want is their main weapon breaking in battle.

4) Remember health only recovers if you've left the party doing nothing for a good while. Adding healing troops and also building and then casting the healing global spell help a lot in speeding up recovery.

5) If you have the mage healing spell remember and you get a chance, don't end a fight too fast. Always try to recover your troops in battle till you run out of spell charges - although never do this if what is left is going to kill your troops.

6) Remember not every encounter is a battle - look out for shops and other goodies that can appear. Remember you can always revisit these places later

I just found out that this only pops up in the lower two difficulties! So maybe thats why he doesnt have them and has so much trouble, because the game is much harder on the third level.

I went up a difficulty each shard and one the third I didnt even manage to capture one province! This is awesome.
Normal difficulty level - Expert. On lower levels neutral units have less HP and AI have less starting resourses, on higher - neutral units have more HP and AI have more starting resourses

Found it! Thanks!

For some weird reason it didn't appear on the first shard of the tutorial (I just finished the first shard and chose the next one). Now I noticed it (its the screen that say "the enemies are doomed" or something like that). Each minute that passes by, I fall in love with this game more and more. Its just too good to be true. This should have been one of GOG's $9.99. I feel guilty paying only $4.79 when the game is so addictive!
