Grow stronger turn, by turn.

Eador: Genesis, an impressive turn-based strategy with RPG elements, that sends you on a quest to conquer a shattered realm, is now available on GOG.com, for only $4.79! That's 20% off, this week only!

The world is no longer whole. All that remains are the islands of existence drifting aimlessly through the endless ocean of emptiness and oblivion. This broken realm houses many aspiring despots, hell-bent on uniting the floating shards of land under their own rule. There was, however, no single monarch who could achieve that feat since the time of the cataclysm. That won't stop you from trying, of course. Is it because you're even more hungry for power and wealth then your opponents? Or maybe you see a higher purpose in domination over Eador? Maybe you believe, that the world united under the rule of one strong leader will finally begin to heal? As one of the Masters, you're free to exercise your will however you see fit. But know this: history will judge you.

Eador: Genesis delivers a turn-based strategy experience inspired by the classics of the genre. It's a multi-layered game, equally stressing the importance of your kingdom's development and management, and your tactical battlefield abilities. There's also a strongly accented RPG element, that goes so well with the imaginatively crafted fantasy setting of the game. With over 170 structures to build, 80 magic spells to master, and 70 kinds of units to lead into the battle, each with its own goals and defining characteristic--this title will keep you busy for many long evenings.

Looking for a well-polished turn-based strategy game that's immersive, enthralling, and deep? Get Eador: Genesis, for only $4.79! That's 20% off until the promo ends on Tuesday, December 11, at 10:59AM GMT.

delphinium125: Been watching the sequels progress for quite a while and was excited to try the older game. First impressions its great!! Lots of stuff to do and so much gameplay. I can see myself playing this for a long time

Whiteblade999: Game looks pretty good, but I'm curious about the units. Can you stack the units like in HoMM and King's Bounty? I hated that in those games and prefer buying individual units or squads and not just piling up everything.
avatar
delphinium125: The units are all individual rather than stacked units. You can have up to probably 15-20 units in a fully upgraded heroes army I think
Thank you kind sir! I'll have to get it down the road after I get tired of Fallen Enchantress.

mistermumbles: Note of caution: If your PC has an integrated graphics chip you may want to stay clear from this game for now.

Like some others I'm greeted with a black/static menu screen on startup. Every time this has happened to me in the past with other GOG titles it was due to my Intel HD 3000. Luckily I was able to circumvent the issue with those other games, but in this case the supposed windowed mode does jack all.

It's a real shame since I really wanted to play this game.

SLP2000: I just updated drivers to my Intel HD graphic card and it worked.
That fixed it for me as well, as well as some outstanding issues with other GOG titles. I'd highly recommend anyone with an Intel HD chip to go to Intel's website and download the latest Oct revision.
I'm always on the look out for new TBS games. I'll for sure pick this up when I get a little extra.
This is game is fun, but I seem to be utterly bad at it.

Mage & 4 Spearmen against Spiders
Hero boast about: Oh, we are going to win without any casualties.

Mage get poisoned and dies in Round 3, spearmen fail to do anything useful and are killed immediately afterwards.

Okay, maybe it was bad luck - next combat:
Mage & 3 Slingers & 1 Healer against 1 Dryad and 3 Elf.
Hero boast about again: Haha - The enemy is doomed!!!

The three Elves shot first, killing the healer and a slinger. Dryad casting healing spells to counter Magic Missle by my mage. Failed again...

Now the best:
Difficulty: Beginner and my Mage is level 4

Thus far I was able to beat, mhhm, a yes, some Goblins and uhm one Orc I think...

[Edit]
Finished the "Tutorial" World now.
There is a ridiculous unit tier cap in place. You can only build barracks for tier 1 units.
My most basic summoning spells where stronger than the units I was able to recruit. The monsters obviously didn't suffer from that unit cap so they prove challenging for a tutorial level.

That sounds like mission impossible, don't think I had this issue in original version. Mebbe translation strings for estimation are off?..

I think I'm going to pick this game up, as it sounds a lot like life: It can be a lot of fun, but you are best served if you don't take anything you hear too seriously!

It reads like a good game, and I don't mind if a game is hard, as long as it comes from the game and not some idiotic UI and control scheme.

Or mebbe Hero got hit head once too often.

Anyway, I think the Tutorial Level is best played as a Fighter, especially as heroes don't carry over to the next shard. A pity but well...

I am a TBS sucker too. Luckily for us this year (and next one too) is full of good surprises!!

Khadgar42: Well it bothers me if those limits are connected to the winning condition or giving you some kind of unbalanced bonus.
If the game takes these spoils of war from me, it's not a good game in my eyes.
Its not just one game, its a whole row of successful games in the past 20 years, the five star general series, Panzer General, Fantasy General and so on, which Fantasy Wars,Panzer Corps and Elven Legacy are remakes of. And you do get a bonus from clearing the whole map instead of going from the gold reward, more XP for your units. And this is a choice you should have to make, is it more useful to go for more XP or go for the gold reward? Often it is more useful to go with bronze and make the units better, especially in the early missions.
Anyway, for really good players it is most of the time possible to wipe the whole map and get gold on hard. It is a sign of the times that difficult games get branded as bad by many people who dont have the time to master them.
One reason I loved HoMM:3 was the adjustable difficulty. I learned the game on "knight" difficulty, and then once I knew what I was doing I played on harder and harder levels until "King" difficulty is often where I let it ride. Pleasantly mastering the game was a fun ride.

Does this have easier modes in which to learn the ropes?

Best thing imo about HoMM3 difficulty was just how good the AI was, not just hard but smart.
The game's sound doesn't work for me at all, unfortunately. Apart from that it seems pretty decent though.

my sound is stuttering so much and the game is so laggy it's unplayable... anyone has this too on Win XP?

EDIT: and yes, I did turn off everything in the background :(

Anyone have an english guide or tips for this game? I must say that for a tutorial level I am getting pwned and that could either be a good or a bad sign.

Heck my troops are vanquished by a couple of giant slugs and there are a lot of cool units!!

Please vote for the remake on steam greenlight so it would be available for purchase and I hope that they will release the remake here so it would be DRM free

Really great game that no one should miss especially at that price!!

Well, I think it's because when some people find a game difficult (Fantasy Wars, Elven Legacy, King's Bounty on Impossible with no loss) it makes them frustrated and upset that you have to save/load and think about your every single decision and movement every single turn and nowadays not many people are patient, so they say the game sucks. IMO I think I'm a bit masochistic as I like those games and they are very rare nowadays - while 10-15 years ago that was the norm (even History Line, Battle Isle, Panzer General series, Master of Magic were all difficult games). It's good when game stimulates you to look for a better solution, to think twice and to think hard and then to adapt and challenge yourself and never give up.
