A Triumphant Return of Wonderful Storytelling

Dreamfall, the sequel to The Longest Journey, is a beautiful third-person adventure game for only $14.99 on GOG.com.

The Longest Journey, with its epic story and fantastically portrayed world and characters, was easily one of the best adventure games ever made. Dreamfall, a long-awaited sequel, never fails to deliver a similarly fantastic experience. Taking you a journey through another 13 chapters across the twinned worlds of Stark and Arcadia. However, Dreamfall breaks the expectations with brilliant visual style, breathtaking soundtrack, great voice acting, and challenging game mechanics that require you to think outside the box to complete difficult--but not frustrating--challenges and puzzles. The game offers much less 'action' than most of today's games, but satisfies with mature and intelligent dialogues, gripping story, and and characters who elicit authentic emotions to fascinate and engage any adventure connoisseur.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey follows three adventurers: Zoë Castillo, a 20-year-old resident of Casablanca in 2219, April Ryan, the main protagonist in the original game (and now the Rebel leader), and Kian Alvane, an Azadi soldier and skilled swordsman in two parallel worlds: the technologically advanced Stark and magical Arcadia. An international conspiracy to introduce lucid dream-inducing technology that could be potentially used to brainwash and control the whole population of Stark needs to be stopped, and it falls upon Zoë, April, and Kian to wright the world’s wrongs.

Dreamfall is a multi-threaded, believable, and engaging adventure with amazing presentation and unique attention to details, and is available now on GOG.com for only $14.99 with wallpapers, avatars, the soundtrack, and 30 gorgeous pieces of digital art.

Onkel_Donald: Personally I'm absolutely willing to pay more for drm-free releases of good games with multiple language support and great goodies as a soundtrack. :)

summitus: Yup thats your perogative ;) , and depending on the title I probably would too :)
I second that. ^_^

Definitely would be willing to pay more for a DRM-free, legit version of the game, especially if it's from GoG. Then again, I'm somewhat addicted to the great service GoG has provided along with a mostly-non trolling community. ^_^
While its cheaper than from other places, it's still too expensive for a 2006 game IMO.

Yes gog's community is to say the least ... "unique" :-)

Pheace: It goes on sale regularly though. Heck, look at the latest Xmas sale. The Dreamfall + Longest Journey package was on sale for $6.24. Even Dreamfall alone won't touch that price on GOG any time soon probably.

For full price you're right, GOG has an advantage. But for 5 year+ old games, full price is mostly just what determines it's sales price, not the price people tend to buy at.
That's what I hope from the new GOG: With a higher price point, they should have a higher discount sale too. 60% off, max, doesn't cut it anymore.
No Polish version, meh. :(

gameon: This is definitely on my wishlist. But i haven't played the first dreamfall yet. Are they both good?
First one's better; second one plays better if you've played the first one, because characters from the first appear in it. First one is also cheaper; so...

("Better" is subjective, of course, but the first one has a 91 on Metacritic, while the second one has a 75, so it's not just me who thinks so).

According to my wife: "They're all good. I think you will love it."

She knows I like the Kings Quest series, but well, Dreamfall is somewhat different.

summitus: I have'nt bought a used game for along time now , 95% of my game purchases are Digital Downloads now , even on Ps3 and Xbox .

ne_zavarj: I choosed digital because there aren't any retail stores nearby . I don't want to travel more than 100 kilometers just to purchase a boxed copy .
can't you have the box delivered to you?

The original game (The Longest Journey) is definitely the better of the two. But I enjoyed Dreamfall a lot. It was let down by the bad 3D interface and some awful action sequences, but the story was fantastic.

The story is what is key about these games. Realistically, you would be pretty lost if you haven't played The Longest Journey first. The story is long, emotional and fairly complex, among the best ever presented in gaming.
wow, haha, what a pleasant surprise to see this here

I remember buying this game cheap back in 2007 with the artbook and soundtrack but the game would not run on my system due to the DRM it had in it, that moment was when I truly learned what was DRM and why I need to fight against it

Needless to say...this game was the one that started it all

Will pick this one up for sure someday
Think I picked up both of these from a Steam sale for really cheap while back.

edit.
Heia Norge!

keeveek: Fifteen?

Pass.

edit: ok, it's cheaper than initial price on steam. But who buys oldies on their initial prices on steam? You need to make bigger discount for such prices, gog.

Bought it in retail for 3 bucks.
I bought it retail for $40 (complete with Starforce before I knew better) and it was worth every penny.

And for crying out loud people, PLEASE stop complaining about the price. This is a very good price point compared to competitors AND for what you get. The only way you can ge the soundtrack anymore is by purchasing the GotY edition which is still running for 26+ dollars on Amazon (and is almost out of stock for good). The soundtrack is no longer available separately, and the Steam price point (which is more expensive I might add) does not include the soundtrack. No matter how you cut it, you get more bang for your buck. All this bellyaching every time a title over $9.99 is released on GOG is giving me a headache folks. If you don't like it here, then don't buy it here. End of story. Wait until a Steam sale or whatever. some of us, however, appreciate the fact that GOG finally has this game, and we especially appreciate finally having a DRM free version. No matter what their price point, Steam is *not* DRM free.

Been on my mental wishlist, sadly despite my anti DRM stance I gave in this week and bought a blu-ray player (Personal video recorder / media device) and a hell of a lot of DRM encumbered Blu-ray titles around about 40 so my bank balance is looking awful. I'll have to buy this game later when I have the money.

Anyone else anoyed by Blu-ray double packs that come with a digital copy that has to be enabled in iTunes and is DRM encumbered.
I loved The Longest Journey, despite its occasional bit of ridiculous puzzle logic. I'd love to play more games in same world and with the same characters... but I've heard that this doesn't really have a proper ending. I don't think I could do that to myself... I'd just feel so empty at the end.

If they make a thrid that wraps things up, I'll pick this up in an instant though.

I just saying, that the majority of potential buyers here won't buy it for $15 now. I don't know what's the purpose of those releases as long as GOG.com didn't change their sales/promos policy.
