If there's a thing more fearsome than a dragon, it's a dragon with a jetpack!

Divinity: Dragon Commander, multi-layered real-time strategy game with a fantastic setting, epic scale, amazing gameplay depth, and many original ideas, is available on GOG.com, for $39.99. You can also get the extensive Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition for a little more, that is $44.99.

What is Divinity: Dragon Commander? Let us put an image in your head. A giant army rushes into battle. First, the scouts, agile and fast, with their bows always ready. Then the cavalry, blazing on their relentless mounts. Then, the heavy infantry--warriors of all the shapes, sizes, and races with their plate armors sounding with every step like the bells of doom. Right behind them, the battle beasts--horrors bred with one purpose only: destruction. Some of them pulling the ballistas, trebuchets, and other siege machines. Above them, a variety of zeppelins and flying machines ready to spread death from above. And then, suddenly, a great shadow falling over the battlefield. A gigantic winged dragon swooping down at lightning speed, propelled by a jetpack, breathing fire and roaring fiercely. An image sure to strike fear in the hearts of the enemies. You, however, have nothing to fear. This is your army, and you are the Dragon, its commander and Emperor. Can you see it now? Can you grasp the scale of the game? Maybe it's better that you saw it with your own eyes.

Divinity: Dragon Commander realease trailer

Divinity: Dragon Commander allows the player to experience war from many unique perspectives, thus breathing new life to real-time strategy genre. The idea to put the gamer in the role of a Dragon commanding its people (and elves, and dwarves, and undead, and--well, creatures) into battle and even taking part in the combat directly is original enough to make the game phenomenally involving. The people who gave you the acclaimed Divinity RPG series decided however, to add a couple more layers to the gameplay. In the game, you'll get to make diplomatic decisions, manage your empire in an epic world-map mode, and even utilize elements of trading card game mechanics. All that and more, coupled with excellent visuals, peculiar humor, and many available scenarios (single-player and multi-player alike), gives the game a potential to become the next big step in the evolution of RTS genre.

Sink your claws into the biggest chunk of full-blooded fantasy real-time strategy out there, with Divinity: Dragon Commander, for only $39.99 on GOG.com! Please note, that if you decide to upgrade your game to the Imperial Edition, you can do so by acquiring the Imperial Edition Upgrade DLC for only $9.99. You can also start with Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition for $44.99, and if you were one of the pre-ordering customers, you already have it.

TheEnigmaticT: Incidentally, I just got off the phone with Larian and they said that they will be issuing all KS backers a fix for updating Dragon Commander Standard edition to the Imperial Edition. It will purportedly be in place within the hour.

sebarnolds: What about the extras that are available in the Imperial Edition (behind the scenes, soundtrack...) ?

Also, the fix is available in the Larian Vault, I received a mail about it a few minutes ago (but I don't need it as I correctly received a Imperial Edition on GOG).
Apparently it has everything apart from MP3 and behind the scenes video.

Between this and game breaking bugs I can't I'm very happy.

What I see is a download for the game addon and a download for the video. :-/
Looks like an amazing game. During all the time it was on pre-sale I did not bother to click on it, I just assumed it was yet another fantasy RPG.

The price seems nice for that game, I remember paying more for Commodore 64 games without even factoring in inflation. With that said, I won't buy it at full price because it is fantasy and I have quite a big backlog.

Fever_Discordia: Emporer: Rise of the Middle Kingdom (City Builder series) though
I think we can both repeat that name in every second post and that will make it true :D
Thanks GOG.
Love Larian Studios.
Will pick this up asap.
Seeing a majority of female characters in some variation on chain bikini standing next to "men in burkas" is hardly persuading me to purchase. Aside from that, the gameplay - watchable in gamecard's video - looks interesting.

Demo could have changed my opinion but it doesn't exist, so I'll wait and see.

EDIT: And I'm glad Larian released it here. Rich and diverse GOG collection is always welcome.

Well, the addon download from the Vault is a downloader which is requesting 7,438.8MB of disc space: considerably more than just the Imperial DLC according to its gamecard, but less than the full download size for DC. So I'm guessing it might include the soundtrack, etc.--I just don't have the spare bandwidth to find out at present.

Actually the theme of sexism comes up very early in the game when two female generals join your ranks, and one of them isn't all that pleased about how things are run in your ship. From what I've played so far Larian have managed to make these themes both entertaining and actually giving you many points of view for every issue and maybe even some new insights for you.

I haven't gotten to the point where princesses come into question, but i'm actually fairly confident Larian good enough writing to back up even such chlichéd token characters.

Also so far the game's been a lot of fun, though I wonder just how many different subjects there are you can make decisions on, I hope they don't run out of halfway through a game, because so far i'm having a blast with them.

WBGhiro: ...
But why putting these scantily clad characters - as usual only female to not make male gamers threatened by gayness or something - into the game to make a point? I'm old enough and fed up by these repetitive "Bayonneta is oh so empowering" arguments to pay for it without solid reason. Especially when there are games that don't do this.

Like I said. This discourages me from considering the purchase for now. I will wait what kind of reaction it gets first.

VanishedOne: Cheers. It seems that they've made the upgrade available as a Larian Vault voucher: not as neat as a GOG code would have been, since it spreads the game across two download sites, but at least I have it now.
That sucks. :(
I'd rather have it all in one place...

Yup. That indeed sucks. Given that there is an upgrade available on GOG, I don't see why they couldn't just have given us a code for that.

So instead of having the game on a service we don't use, we get 'half' of a game on a service we don't use. I'd rather have just gone with Steam, if I'd known, to be honest.

I wonder why instead of just putting up a GOG code, they put an installer.
Guess I'll just wait and see first before redeeming my codes.
I hope the installer is just a quick fix and GOG can provide the codes for the DLC later
My KS code to redeem is also the standard version and not the Imperial version. :(
