Sometimes, true love just falls from the sky!

Deponia, a gorgeous adventure game that feels like a cartoon based on works of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99 until Thursday, September 13 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Rufus would have been a nice guy, really. That is, if he wasn't such a self-important, all-knowing jerk. But hey! Living your whole life in the middle of a junkyard can do that to you. Why does he live in a junkyard, you might ask. Well, it's not like he had much choice. The whole surface of the planet Deponia is covered with a thick layer of trash. That's why our ambitious protagonist always dreamed of getting into one of the upper spheres, where the privileged part of Deponia's population leads a life full of luxurious bliss, probably even unaware of the garbage piles below. But everything is about to change, as a girl named Goal suddenly falls from the cities above with a warning of impending doom.

Deponia is a top-notch point-and-click adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World. It combines the classic adventure game controls with beautiful cartoony graphics and heaps of brilliant humor. The garbage-filled planet Deponia, with all of its gadgets and gizmos, is one of the most captivating, original settings ever to be featured in a video game. With hundreds of challenging puzzles, tons of witty and skillfully enacted dialogs, and amazing cinematic cut-scenes, Deponia is a game that every adventure fan should experience.

Join Rufus and Goal on their voyage through the mystifyingly beautiful garbage-filled landscapes of Deponia, for only $14.99 in the release week!

Woot, the demo sold me on it. Can't wait to play it. Ah and it does support windowed mode and 1080p.

I hope we'll see A New Beginning here soon. The game caught my attention basically a moment it was released.

GOG.com: until Thursday, September 14
I assume that should be Thursday, September 13? Unless GOG uses it's own calendar system. If so, I want in.
So, why did GOG release it now? Nearly over a moth after every other store had it (even DRM free)? I don't care about this game in particular, but this isn't exactly how you do good business.

GOG has the best price on the web, but probably lost a good chunk of sales due to the late release. I really, really hope that was due to some licensing and not because you wanted to stretch out the releases.
Awesome adventure released on GOG....check
Incredible pricing, considering the age of the game...check
Multi-language support (a german game with actual german language...oh the heavens)....check
Already moving the game to my cart and preparing to buy while writing....check

A huge THANKS to GOG for this great release!

And here I thought my wallet would get a rest *sighs*
mmm... looks good! :D

deshadow52: Can't go wrong with an indie adventure game as far as I am concerned, and it is relatively new too.

The thing that surprised me the most is the size, I mean 3 gigs? that has to be the biggest file size for any adventure game I ever seen.
oh come on! what about Phantasmagoria and it's 7 (or 8) CDs? :) or Fahrenheit? or Myst 4? there are tons actually...
Hmm did I praise GOG too early now...

How do you actually install the non-english versions of Deponia ? There is only one installer and it'll install the english version of the game. I can't seem to find an option within the game to swith languages either.

Is it just me ? Am I missing something here ?
hmm, I love the "fallen" lady from the artworks... she has no nose but she's so beautiful...

There should be an "Options" button in the lower left corner of the installer window, is it not there?

Bloodygoodgames: And yet adults like comic books. How strange :)
Don't generalize it like that. There's many different visual styles in cartoons and comics and you really can't compare this one to, say, the more realistic look of classic US comics. I for example love some US franchises by DC and Marvel but really can't stand the look of most mangas. Even in Daedelic's adventure games there's been some styles that I like and some I don't. This one is among the latter.

Yes it's there alright, though it only gives me the option to change the path as there are no different components to install besides "Deponia" which is checked and seems to refer to the english version of the game...hmm

I don't have Deponia so I can't check for myself but for example in case of Alan Wake there was an external setup which could be run from the start menu. Maybe look if there's something like this for Deponia?
