A delightful mixture of tower defense and RPG.

Defender's Quest, a highly addictive mixture of tower defense and role-playing game set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is now available 33% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.99 until Tuesday, November 6, at 10:59 AM GMT.

The Kingdom of Ash was not a nice place to live. The mysterious Plague decimated the citizens and the war seemed to have no end. The court librarian Azra, however, led a peaceful life buried in her books and shielded from all grisly matters by the castle walls. Then all of a sudden--she was ill. As all of the Plague victims she was tossed into The Pit by the royal watchmen. Never she would suspect the horrors that awaited her in this underworld of villainy, necromancy, and greed. But she survived, mysteriously cured of her illness. Now, with newly-gained mystical powers and a party of allies, she has to follow her destiny.

In the times where tower defense games are a dime a dozen, Defender's Quest really stands out from the crowd. This game is to tower defense games as Puzzle Quest is to the match three genre. The RPG elements make it immensely enjoyable and add layers upon layers of strategic planning, character development, and intriguing storyline. These are no simple towers defending the battlefield in this one. These are characters you'll grow invested in. There are multitude of settings that let you control every aspect of their behavior in battle. Should the archer target the weakest enemy, or should she spam her arrows randomly causing damage to the whole horde of your foes? Should your berserker develop his ability to attack three monsters with one blow or concentrate on his HP regeneration ability? A seemingly simple strategic decision could easily turn the tide of a battle!

Gather a party, master your skills, crush monsters, hoard loot, and survive the onslaught while you set out on the Defender's Quest, for only $9.99.

Vitek: It is first tower defense game released here, so we shouldn't be oversaturated with TD's as some claim to be.
What's with the price, though? Why is it 10 bucks on developers site and 15 here (without sale)?
GOG gets a percentage of the money. But on their own site, they get the lot.
This game is lovely, I played it a while back (before the big update), and I enjoyed it a lot. Try out the demo, it's more than the sum of its parts.

Trilarion: Can Indies make other games too?
I quote you from incredipedes release thread:

Modern Indie games are kind of always the same: plattform or puzzle or casual action.
So, great news, you already know an answer to your own question: according to you, there's at least three other genres that indies can make!

Anyway congrats on the release Lars. Hope the game does well.
Just udpated our site's pages to reflect that there is a sale going on :)
Was looking at some screenshots here on GoG, and I saw the test account had like several thousand K of scraps. I am wondering if I can keep replaying challenges to accumulate scrap to 'farm' scrap and xp basically.

Yup you can.
Nice pickup, GOG.
Lars personally reset my old download links. Very cool.

Pick the game up people. It's really good.

Yes, I am complaining now already the second time - that might sound pathethic, but I have the feeling Indies are restricted to a few genres. And I find these genres boring or a bit oversaturated at the moment. I would love to see Indies making other kind of games and coming here with them. Before you ask which ones: Strategy, Simulation, RPGs.

Alternatively I would love to see how good the Indies sell (here and elsewhere). Maybe I don't really find them interesting but many others do.
@Mirkat:

In options->accessibility, you can even adjust your multiplier for XP / Gold rewards, in case you feel the normal pace is too low (or too high!)

Don't knock it till you try it bro. For all the saturation of tower defense games, this one is really good.

Well wishlisting doesn't hurt. :)

I can recommend playing the demo if you are unsure about it. Its really long for a demo, about 20% of the whole game! You can play it online here: http://www.defendersquest.com/play_demo.html
Way too expensive for me, especially since you can play it for free up to level something or other. And huge spoiler... each level is more of the same. If you are a huge fan of TDs and must have them all I suppose, otherwise its not all that different. You upgrade "characters" instead of "towers". Not to sound totally negative, it is fun, but not anywhere near that price.
