Your planetary dominion begins here.

Deadlock: Planetary Conquest and Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars, two excellent Sci-Fi turn-based strategy games that will allow you to explore the planet, expand your influence, exploit the resources under your control, and exterminate the foes of your empire, are available for $5.99 each, on GOG.com. This week only, you'll receive a 33% off discount when getting both of them. That's only $7.98 for the set of two!

Beneath you floats magnificent, untamed Gallius IV, a terran world newly discovered in this disputed part of the galaxy. Your colony ship is ready, equipped with all the basics you need to settle this planet. The select group of colonists orbiting with you are prepared both to build a strong colony and to defend it to the last stone. Other ships are also scanning the planet's surface, choosing the landing site for their colony. All past allegiances have been cast aside in the fever for this world. So begins Deadlock: Planetary Conquest, an intense turn-based strategic simulation. Seven races colonize a virgin planet, but only one will survive. Build your province’s structures. Conduct research to advance your race. Devise the perfect strategy of diplomacy, intimidation and warfare. Every decision you make will determine the ultimate fate of your people, your empire, and your survival.

Discovered, in the aftermath of the Gallius IV war, ancient and mysterious Shrines have revealed the location of an extinct alien home world. These Shrines unlock the most powerful technology in the Universe. Now, seven interstellar empires race across the galaxy to conquer this one planet and gain the secret power of the ancient civilization. That's the premise of Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars another exciting game of strategy, resource management and military conquest in the series. Each race fighting to dominate the planet has its own strengths and weaknesses - learn to exploit them to your advantage. Build, trade, research, attack, as you search for the ancient knowledge that will grant you ultimate control over the entire Universe.

Don't miss your chance to get the complete Deadlock series with 33% off discount. Deadlock: Planetary Conquest and Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars can be yours for only $7.98. Better hurry, because the offer lasts only until Tuesday, February 4, at 10:59AM GMT.

Ghorpm: Good memory is not THAT creepy, you know ;) And it's extra helpful in science ;)

F4LL0UT: Nah, I also frequently freak out people with random and irrelevant stuff from ages ago. Sadly my memory does not apply to useful stuff at all.
I have this luck that my memory is much, much better at serious stuff and remembering completely irrelevant things is just a side effect.

But this time I know exactly why I remembered is so clearly - I had been thinking so hard about that picture and I had been so upset that it just stayed in my memory. It usually works like that with non-important stuff - the more emotions the higher probability that I will remember it for a long time.
Holy freaking hell, I never would have dreamed it!!!!!

I played the demo for ages when I was a kid. This is getting a priority slot in my backlog!

Never heard of these...but TBS is something I seldom go by without purchasing.

So, take my money, GOG.
I just noticed that while the first game can be played on XP, Vista, 7, and 8, the sequel can only be played on XP, Vista and 7...so no 8 :(

If anyone's experimented and found a somewhat easy workaround for the sequel on Windows 8, let me know, as that's what I'm currently running off of.

Mine is very similar. I can remember some useful things, but I have an excellent auditory memory. Unfortunately, being able to recite TV commercials from 20 years ago, or duplicating the exact vocal inflections of a movie line or whatever don't pay very well.

Rodor: Yes-yes-yes!!! Do GOG gods accept human sacrifices? If it would help to see Armada 2526 here - I'm ready for it!

JudasIscariot: Depends on the human :P
Or, is the Windows 8 version coming for the sequel sooner than later? Maybe you couldn't get it out today but maybe later?

If you're referring to Deadlock II, then I am sorry but Windows 8 does not like the game at this time :(
Well done, you guys. This release just came out of nowhere and I couldn't be more excited!

I went to post a message to you thinking it would link to my past comment about Deadlock II, but yes that is what I was curious about.

I really want these, but I can't play the sequel. That just hurts...
Oh joy! Deadlock was the first game I bought when I built my first PC back in the mid 90's. Thanks GOG!

I know it hurts but, hopefully, we'll be able to get it to work. Maybe.
We have an exoskeleton. You have skiiiin.
These games look awesome! Even though I have bought most games with a discount of 50% or higher (since 50% became the lowest normal discount) I'm very tempted to buy these right away. Deadlock 2 looks like the one with the best gameplay and best esthetics, but the Windows 3.1\Windows 95 look of the first one made me nostalgic! Maybe I will play that one first an then learn and appreciate the upgraded Deadlock 2. Even though DOS games dominated in those days, there were some cool games using the Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 interfaces. Mordor and MindMaze at least, I'm sure there were some more.

There is always the possibility to install Windows XP (if you have a currently unused copy lying around ) on another partition and make a dual-boot system. But you should read up on it first. There could also be a problem with installing an older Windows OS after you have installed an newer one (instead of the other way around).
WIndows XP still works with current hardware and gives you less hiccups with some old games than the newer Windows versions do. You could also install Virtual Box which is free. The you could install Windows XP or an older OS and see if the game in question worked under the virtual system. (This is far from guaranteed, as many games don't work or have problems running on virtual systems.)

Congratulations with your first post and welcome to the classy, classic, community!
This release promo is just too tempting to pass up for some good ole TBS.

Once I'm through with Blackguards I might need a change of pace.
