Beneath you floats magnificent, untamed Gallius IV, a terran world newly discovered in this disputed part of the galaxy. Your colony ship is ready, equipped with all the basics you need to settle this planet. The select group of colonists orbiting with you are prepared both to build a strong colony and to defend it to the last stone. Other ships are also scanning the planet's surface, choosing the landing site for their colony. All past allegiances have been cast aside in the fever for this world. So begins Deadlock: Planetary Conquest, an intense turn-based strategic simulation. Seven races colonize a virgin planet, but only one will survive. Build your province’s structures. Conduct research to advance your race. Devise the perfect strategy of diplomacy, intimidation and warfare. Every decision you make will determine the ultimate fate of your people, your empire, and your survival.

Discovered, in the aftermath of the Gallius IV war, ancient and mysterious Shrines have revealed the location of an extinct alien home world. These Shrines unlock the most powerful technology in the Universe. Now, seven interstellar empires race across the galaxy to conquer this one planet and gain the secret power of the ancient civilization. That's the premise of Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars another exciting game of strategy, resource management and military conquest in the series. Each race fighting to dominate the planet has its own strengths and weaknesses - learn to exploit them to your advantage. Build, trade, research, attack, as you search for the ancient knowledge that will grant you ultimate control over the entire Universe.

Don't miss your chance to get the complete Deadlock series with 33% off discount. Deadlock: Planetary Conquest and Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars can be yours for only $7.98. Better hurry, because the offer lasts only until Tuesday, February 4, at 10:59AM GMT.

Rodor: Yes-yes-yes!!! Do GOG gods accept human sacrifices? If it would help to see Armada 2526 here - I'm ready for it!
Depends on the human :P
A new release on top of the impending sale? Well played, GOG! The price is very tempting too. I'm yet another person who never heard of these before, and I'm glad I'm not alone in that, as I usually pride myself on my knowledge of space games.

Time to lighten the wallet in advance of the Time Machine's arrival.
I had a feeling there would be a release today before the start of the Time Machine sale. Cool!
DEADLOCK!

I remember these games. When Deadlock first came out, I thought it looked interesting but didn't have the money. Later, I had the money, but nobody seemed to be playing Deadlock, so I held off. Later, when the second game came out, I wanted to get the first game before playing the sequel but didn't find it anywhere. Still later, I heard that both games were supposed to be rather good and wanted to pick them both up, but I couldn't find them anywhere for sale.

And now, here they are! D

Good job, GOG!

For those who have never heard of this game, here is a Let's Play of it.

Like those who have come before me, I too have not heard of this title. But I can never get enough of good turn based strategy games of which these seem to be. But only wishlisted for now until a better sale can come along. Stupidly or perhaps sensibly (depending on the day) trying to maintain a budget :). Hopefully only have to wait a few months for that.
Look forward to reading the eventual reviews.

F4LL0UT: Very nice. I never got to play them but I remember hearing a lot about them back in the day.
Yes, you've heard about it here for example (see following posts as well) and you've said 'Whatever it is, I want it. :D" so you are obliged to get those games now ;)

And BTW I still think that s23021536's drawing rocks!
Heck yes! I wondered for quite some time why these weren't here.

EDIT: I do continue to worry about other publishers here, though. Can we please see the next Hitman game?

Is this by any chance similar to Alpha Centauri?
I can't believe it. I previously went through the trouble of installing a virtual machine on Windows 7 with Win98 or something just so I could play this again.

I LOVE YOU GOG

Siegor: Is this by any chance similar to Alpha Centauri?
I think the background is at the very least as good as alpha centauri. The races are very well fleshed out and voiced and themed.
The game itself is way more strategic and not much tactical (as the gamecard says) because you (can) give 'guidelines' to your fighting units and not orders.
The logistics aspect of the game is really clear and practical (which never was the case in any civ) and is fundamental to have an optimized industry (which is what you want while waging war on every known planet). This game is more fast paced than civ.

Edit : the voices are not technically that good, but they .... carry (?) I think.

Good memory is not THAT creepy, you know ;) And it's extra helpful in science ;)

Nah, I also frequently freak out people with random and irrelevant stuff from ages ago. Sadly my memory does not apply to useful stuff at all.
