Finally, a zombie game that depends on your brainzzzz.

Dead State, a zombie survival RPG with tactical turn-based combat, non-linear gameplay, and many locations to explore across undead-ridden Texas, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com.

Dead State is a survival RPG with non-linear exploration of more than 100 unique locations, 50,000+ lines of branching dialogue with a host of rich, complex characters. It's set in central Texas at the collapse of civilization: as society crumbles, the player must defend their shelter from threats while keeping themselves and their allies fed, equipped, and content. Inspired by classic strategy RPGs like Fallout, X-COM, and Suikoden, Dead State emphasizes clever turn-based combat, complex character interactions, and base building against a background of humans fighting tooth and nail to survive in the face of horror and despair.

Want to see Dead State in action? Join Rurikhan, as he takes on the undead enemy this Sunday, 7PM GMT (11AM PST / 2PM EST), on Twitch.tv/GOGcom. Remember to follow our channel, so you don't miss our future broadcasts!

BadDecissions: I was a backer, but had no idea that this was coming out today; I think my email account must be shunting Kickstarter emails into my spam folder.

Anyway, I wish I wasn't so incredibly busy right now, but hopefully I'll find the time to try this out.
Check messages on your Kickstarter account. My key was there.
LOL the game is out for 2 hours and "Freeden" posted a review.
Seriously, no Freeden, you didn't play the real game. The real game is out for two ours. No, Freeden, you didn't play this through in 2 hours. Seriously GOG, why is posting reviews no unbiased person could have played through so far is even allowed? At least make a cool-down for a day or something.

Maybe he played it first through Early Access.

...which is NOT the released version of the game. I find it misleading to not read reviews of people actually playing the SAME game as I will buy.

Does anyone know what game engine Dead State uses?

I am not sure but I last heard it used the Torque engine but that was a long time back during the development cycle :)

Scarily quick response as always. Thank you :)

Torque rings a bell. It was used in SPAZ, if I remember correctly...

---Just checked; SPAZ and Frozen Synapse both used Torque! That's a good endorsement, especially because I really didn't want to see another Unity game. I'm tired of having to turn off shadows just to stop my video card from sounding like a rocket!

No key here yet. Argh!
Its Torque if you go to their forum you'll see they are at Iron Tower which are the folks making Age of Decadence so they used the work/familiarity with that for Dead State. (I'm probably horribly wrong but I'm sure someone will correct me if so)

Oh and if you missed the opportunity to get a GOG key you can't go wrong with asking.

Got my KS key redeemed and game downloading as we speak. The antecipation is almost indescribable, just like before opening a christmas present.
No launch discount?
This looks pretty awesome, is it really like Xcom?
I will end up with this one...may wait for the first patch or two... so many other games to work on... :)

Niggles: No launch discount?
I guess the main reason why we us GOG users treated to so many launch discounts is that most of the games have usually been around for a while by the time they are released here.

Since this is a Day 1 release, I'm not surprised that there is no launch discount. Other platforms don't have a launch discount either - at least we get fair pricing!

Cyraxpt: Oh wow, i almost missed it with the sales going on, really nice that it was released here, going for my wishlist. This is such an amazing year for PC players, Divinity Original Sin, Wasteland 2, Legend of Grimrock 2, Endless Legend, Dead State, etc... Terrible year for wallets though....
One of those games doesn't appeal to every audience. Endless Legend is a Steam only affair. I'm not complaining though, I love my Age of Wonders 3 :)

Some games will explicitly say they'll have a launch discount. Comsonautica devs are expecting their game to come here and it will have a discount on release.
