I do usually follow Gamespot and read the same review which sunk this ship for me. That's fine too. I haven't even gotten around to Pirates! yet which by all accounts is a far superior game. When I'm in the mood to be a pirate, I will play that one.

I could see giving this a whirl if you have already played Pirates! and perhaps other similar games and want a pirate fix. It's cheap entertainment if not stellar. Not everything can be amazing. I guess just okay is okay if you've already played the genre leaders.

Now we just need Eidos' Cutthroats, and we have all the swashbucklin' we ever need. I'll keep my eye on this one for the winter sale though.

Corsairs Gold.....Pirates Gold.

Can someone please tell me if this is just a blatant ripoff of Sid Meier's game or is it actually worth a look?

I remember reading about it in Russian gaming Mags and playing it at a friends place, definitely wishlisted

No, as far as I remember you could only choose if you were fighting for the French or the English, I don't think you even get a character in the game although it is possible that the leader in the boarding/land battles is your character.

Thanks a bit of a pity i enjoy games where you create a character one of these people that spends hours in skyrim character creator.

For me a game is old if it has passed its 2 or 3 year anniversary, after that it's just a grade of how old it is.

This game looks fun, I like the fights on boats according to YouTube gameplay videos. I'm not sure about a purchase though.

Tell that to the people who have complained before about amount of oldish or if said game wasnt enough oldish.
If a game is old or not is a matter of personal opinion.
But i dont care any more, il just let the complain train run its course and im in it myself for the ride.
